As I celebrate National Entrepreneur's Day, I find myself reflecting on this incredible journey that began back in 1989. Over the years, my business has been a testament to adaptation and evolution, staying relevant in a world that has transformed before my eyes.

What's truly mind-blowing is the arsenal of tools I now wield that didn't even exist when I embarked on this journey. I navigated the transition from film to digital. From social media to livestreaming and embracing the wonders of artificial intelligence – every day feels like a new adventure.

But beyond the tech marvels, what strikes me most are the unique experiences and incredible individuals that have graced my path. The decision to take the road less traveled as a career has led to connections and moments that I couldn't have imagined.

This entrepreneurial life has gifted me with the flexibility to be there for my loved ones during their hospice journeys. No traditional employer would have granted the level of personal leave I required during those times. Grateful doesn't even begin to cover it.

Today, I'm not just celebrating my journey; I'm raising a toast to my biz besties and clients on their own remarkable entrepreneurial paths. Your resilience, creativity, and determination inspire me daily.

Here's to the next chapter, the next innovation, and the next set of incredible people and experiences. Thank you for being a part of this journey.

When I left corporate America in 1989 to open my first photography studio, one of the very first things I did was get my hair braided. After I graduated from college I was afraid to wear my hair braided for fear I would suffer repercussions at work.

Wearing my hair braided as I began my entrepreurial journey was an outward declaration of my freedom from the restraints of a career working for people that looked nothing like me.

Becoming an entrepreneur meant I was free to be my most authentic self.

It pains me that over 30 years later Black women still have to think about whether or not they can or should wear their hair the way it grows from their very on scalps.

Yes progress has been made, but HOW can this still be a topic that needs an entire law written?
