Waiting to Oxtail , our '90s RNBrunch is this Sunday, September 8th at Red Bay HQ and, you guessed it - it's a celebration of oxtail - cue the YESSSSSSSSSSS!

We're back at Hammerling again this Saturday, August 31st from 2pm - 7pm!
And we're back with the debut of our new signature menu item: ALCAPURRIAS! Where my Boriquas at?!
Alcapurrias are a delicious, slightly sweet, savory meat (and veggie) filled plantain fritter (GF, by the way) that hail in origin from Puerto Rico but proliferate the burroughs of New York and Paseo Boriqua in Chicago. We're serving ours with our signature aged jerk sauce and if you've never had one - you gotta try ours! As is to be expected with flavor profiles by The Pleasure Principle, expect an explosively bright, savory and indulgent snacking experience. We're also bringing along some our other signature menu items so stop by for a glass of wine and bite or grab a bottle and order to-go; however you can show up, we're grateful if you do!

We're back at Hammerling this Saturday - with the summer release of our peach & nectarine cobbler hand pies and other delicious treats!
We're back at Hammerling again this Saturday, August 24th from 2pm - 8pm!
We're honoring some truly perfect midsummer produce this month; including PEACHES. We kept it simple and did as my late Grandma Doris would: made a cobbler filling and put it in our vegan puff pastry so you can enjoy a handheld peach cobbler experience! We've even made a delicious coconut whipped cream to make the experience that much yummier. They're available this Saturday at our pop-up at Hammerling and then after that until the season ends on our to-go menu!

Support your local pop-up chefs and businesses when you can. Setting up shop/a kitchen and/or prep stations in the wild is, well, WILD.
You're left to the mercy of the elements and infrastructure, all while trying to positively promote to deliver an experience you can't necessarily count on being able to deliver. But, we leap - hoping there will be a familiar or supportive face(s) to make the leap (and work) just a little easier and very much worth it.

This Juneteenth and always, LIBERATE something! Yourself, your community, your loved ones from whatever you need to free yourself(ves) from. Let that take whatever form it needs to.
My attempts at liberation come in the form of our offerings. And just so you all know, you never have to buy anything at the events we participate in to be invited. Sharing and creating space for us is the support so we hope you'll join us at our events this month:
• We're back (like we never left) at Hammerling Wines this Sunday, June 23rd from 12pm - 6pm (or sellout). The Pleasure Principle will be vending Caribbean Blue Plate Specials and Savory Pastries at Hammerling Wines for their Sip and Swap (https://www.instagram.com/p/C8YBDKByN8m/) event. Join us as we celebrate the liberation of our Q***r communities with PRIDE! And so far it looks like it's going to be GORGEOUS out so we really hope we can party with you!
• We're celebrating and supporting the liberation of SMALL BUSINESSES next Tuesday, June 25th (and always) at Low Bar's (https://www.lowbaroakland.com/) Night Market! We're delighted to number among so many fabulous local artists, makers and vendors! We'll be selling our famous TAKE & BAKE Caribbean pastries as well as our explosively delicious PEPPA SAUCES! Come whether or not you plan to purchase anything and share space with your community! We'd simply love to see your joyful faces! This event is from 6pm - 9pm.

It's amazing what great technique can do. And, I'm learning (as I hope I'll continue to do) that most technique is sheer patience. I learned this mushroom rising technique from during her time as a contestant on . I learned to add mushrooms to fat and let them be until they've browned. Don't add salt, don't jostle the pan, just wait. The complexity and depth of umami that renders is undeniable. Truly, patience is the ultimate technique.

We were so honored, so we put forth (as we always do) our best offerings.
This one was our signature dessert small bites menu offering. Mini banana bread trifles with gelee, toasted pepitas and candied pecans, and a coconut créme Chantilly. 🤤

This one was tostones with picadillo, and it is one of our new, signature small bites menu options. Our food is not tweezed or extremely picked over, but it is intentionally and lovingly made, and man is it DELICIOUS!!! 👏🏽 👏🏽 👏🏽

This one was Dirty Rice Arancini, one of our signature small bites offerings. We make our dirty rice with 80/20 ground beef, house made truffle chicken liver mousse, the NOLA trinity, and add smoked provolone, cornstarch and eggs to make a perfect small bite ( or two). Topped with meyer lemon aioli 👌🏽
