10u Coach Spotlight: Dash Winningham

Let’s get to know our 10u head coach Dash Winningham! Dash graduated from Trinity Catholic before being drafted by the NY Mets in 2014. He played across many different levels while in the organization. In 2017 he was the South Atlantic League All Star game MVP.

Questions with coach:

What’s your favorite thing about coaching?
Watching the players develop & achieve their goals. Baseball is a process so it’s not really about how you start, it’s how you finish. Watching them progress over the course of the season is rewarding.

What’s your favorite quote?
One of my favorite quotes is “The most important thing is to try and inspire people so that they can be great in whatever they want to do. -Kobe Bryant

What is the one thing you try to instill in each of your players?
I try to instill a competitive mindset to the team every time we step foot on the field. I want them to be passionate & have fun. It’s a game, have fun & compete to win the game.

What are some of your favorite things to do outside of baseball?
I like to travel and explore new places.

Tell us a little bit about Dash’s Dugout.
Dash’s Dugout is my indoor training facility where I offer private hitting lessons. The goal is to train the swing, approach and routine for all players.

Hey guys, welcome to my Facebook baseball/hitting training page. I am finally back in the swing of things this year trying to create a fun, learning atmosphere to all ages. I’m all about teaching the knowledge I was taught throughout my professional baseball career. Location ***Ocala FL***

I graduated from Trinity Catholic in 2014 and helped lead TC to Marion County’s first baseball state championship.

-Three time Ocala Star Banner Player Of The Year.
-2014 FACA State All Star Selection.
-2014 FACA State All Star Game MVP

-2014 8th round selection in MLB draft by the New York Mets.

-Spent my career across 4 levels in the system.

- Career numbers: (6 seasons) .244 avg, 102 doubles, 59 Homeruns, and 304 RBI’s

-2017 South Atlantic League All Star selection/ All Star Game MVP

- 6 year professional experience

My focus during these training lessons include:
• The importance on a daily routine.
• Pre Pitch Routine
• Pre At Bat Routine
• Hitting mechanics
• A selective/ aggressive approach to each at bat and swing.
• Visualization and self talk.
• Challenge them with the responsibilities of becoming the best hitter they can be once they step into the box. Understand that it’s a process and focus on that more than results.
