One of the largest community theatres in Florida, OCT has been entertaining and educating since 1950.
MACABARET starts Monday!!! đ Teens, join us if you dare for this Halloween-themed youth cabaret, the highlight of frightfully delightful fall fun at OCT for many years. Back from the dead, it now rises from the grave to thrill and chill a whole new generation. đť And it's not too late for YOU to join the cast.
Led by the fearless Jason Bartosic and Jessica Mongerio, our teen cast will perform gleefully ghoulish, fearfully funny songs, scenes, and monologues, while audiences get in the spirit for the spookiest of holidays with coffee and sweet fall treats. Masks and puppets will assist in terrorizing all victims.
Rehearsals are Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 5-7 p.m., September 30 â October 18 at Academy West at Mary Sue Rich Community Center at Reed Place (1821 NW 21st Avenue). For tech and performances, we will return to our old haunts of OCT, where tech will be held October 21-24, 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Performances are October 25-27 (times TBA) in Studio A at OCT.
Tuition is $175 for this performance class. Register ASAP at ocalacivictheatre.com!
Candlelight is back to light up the night this Saturday at OCT! đĽ Performed by the Listeso String Quartet in the gentle glow of candlelight, music will fill the darkness in two magical hour-long experiences on Saturday, September 28. VIVALDI'S FOUR SEASONS is at 6 p.m., followed by '80S ROCK ANTHEMS at 8:30 p.m. Enjoy a special summer night with either concert -- or both!
đĽ THINGS TO KNOW: Doors open 45 minutes prior to the start time. Late entry is not permitted. Guests must be ages 8+. Anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

We had a blast at our THEATRIX: On-Camera Acting Workshop with Wendy Makenna this Saturday morning! It was an up-close-and-personal experience for our six students, and they had a great time learning from this long-beloved film, TV, and stage actress. Thank you to Wendy for sharing her talents and knowledge, and to The Appleton Museum of Art for hosting us! And to all our adult actors, join us for more amazing classes, workshops, and special opportunities like this through The Academy at Ocala Civic Theatre this season.
Auditions continue tonight for Tennessee Williams' classic drama THE GLASS MENAGERIE! Sign up now for your audition spot: [email protected]/bookings/" rel="ugc" target="_blank">https://outlook.office365.com/owa/calendar/[email protected]/bookings/
ABOUT THE SHOW: In 1930s St. Louis, faded Southern belle Amanda Wingfield lives in poverty with her two grown children. Son Tom has unwillingly supported the family since his father abandoned them. Daughter Laura, as fragile as her collection of glass animals, is crippled by shyness and a limp. He seeks escape in alcohol and movies, while she withdraws into music. But when a âgentleman callerâ visits their dingy apartment, the familyâs world of illusions is shattered. Tender and tragic, this ethereal memory play is a classic of American theatre.

What a wonderful time we had at CINDERELLA'S HAPPILY EVER AFTER TEA PARTY on Saturday, with yet another sold-out crowd! Many of our guests came elegantly attired in their royal finery, from our littlest princesses in ballgowns and tiaras to their grandparents in evening wear. Cinderella and the Prince posed for photos by the enchanted coach, then the fairy godmother played games with our guests and taught them how to use their magic wands. And the delicious sparkly cupcakes were a sweet feast! Thank you to all who joined us for this storybook special event. đŤâđ§â¨đŠˇ (And if you were there and shared photos on social media, tag us in your posts!)
Do you have a collection of glass figurines? OCT would love to borrow them for our production of THE GLASS MENAGERIE, live on stage November 7-24. A pivotal plot point of this classic drama is Laura's curio cabinet full of her glass animal figurines, including her beloved unicorn, as fragile and ethereal as she is. đŚ
We have a four-shelf curio cabinet to fill for the set. The figurines need to be glass, not porcelain; clear, though either colorful or colorless is fine; and in animal shapes. So if you've ever thought it would be cool to see something of yours make a cameo appearance on the OCT stage, now is your chance! They will be kept safely in the curio cabinet and returned to you good as new after the show ends.
If you're interested in sharing your treasures with us, please contact OCT Staff & Production Coordinator Courtney Curtis at [email protected] or (352) 236-2274, ext. 113. Thank you!
One last "crowns off" to the cast, crew, creative team, and orchestra of CINDERELLA! It takes a whole kingdom to bring to life such a larger-than-life musical. Thank you to ALL who helped make the magic! â¨
Tonight! Come dazzle us with your dramatic talents. đŚ
