Beginning with a light discussion of the elements, doshas and qualities, we will investigate how the correlating prana and gunas feel in the body. After a yummy meditation, we will delve into breathwork and asana, and learn how to pacify this stabilizing combination of earth and water.

Born and raised in a little town in between Buffalo and Niagara Falls, NY, I enjoyed a simple childhood camping, swimming and racing home before the streetlights came on. I was in my 40’s before I finally attended a yoga class at my local gym to improve my flexibility. A few months later, I graduated to hot yoga, and it was game on for me ever since.
A year later we moved from Western New York to the D.C. Metro area where there was no shortage of yoga studios. I found an amazing studio near our home and practiced often. Although I couldn’t put my finger on just one thing, the healing I started to experience through the practice was something I knew I needed to share. After I completed my 200-hour YTT, I attended an Ayurveda workshop and instantly knew that was something I wanted more and more of. I bought a few books because unfortunately, I didn’t find any local workshops or trainings.
During my 300-hour AYTT, I met Donna and a whole new chapter of life opened. Ayurveda made so much sense to me, and to layer it with teaching yoga is not only an honor, but a lot of fun! I geek out often about how Ayurveda is something we can do right now to move towards balance. And it works. Yes, there is much to know, but the concept is simple, and the beauty is that it lands differently for all of us. The world of healing that awaits us through Ayurveda, together with the curiosity of yoga is boundless – and a gift beyond measure.

Katelyn Sonnier is an Ayurveda Specialist, Integrative Nutritionist, Intuitive Healer, and Yoga Instructor. She has been practicing yoga and implementing Ayurveda into her own life for the past 15 years.
Through the path of Yoga and dealing with her own health challenges, Katelyn found the ancient science of Ayurveda to be invaluable in healing. After experiencing firsthand how an Ayurvedic lifestyle can enhance one’s life, Katelyn felt called to study Ayurveda so she could reconceptualize this ancient knowledge for a modern audience. Katelyn completed a M.S in Ayurvedic and Integrative Medicine from the Maharishi International University.
Katelyn uses the science of Ayurveda, pranayama, and yoga asana, to create a well aligned experience for her students on the mat. She also works one on one with clients to help them develop a healthy relationship with and understanding of their body, mind, and soul, through food, herbal remedies, and lifestyle practices. Her mission is to nourish people back to wellness to create a more harmonious world.

Ayurveda views health as a delicate balance between the body, mind, and spirit. Central to this holistic approach is the understanding of the six fundamental tastes that govern our dietary choices, overall well-being, and the harmony of our internal systems.
In this enlightening lecture, we will explore the unique characteristics, effects, and benefits of each taste. Participants will gain a profound insight into how these tastes influence our physical and mental constitution, providing a roadmap to optimal health.
Kyle Roberts is a licensed acupuncture physician, ayurvedist and educator. He bridges various healing modalities through a dynamic style that utilizes Chinese medicine with components of Kyle’s efforts are spent integrating these classical healing methods with modern practicality for individual health concerns.
Kyle is a graduate of Dragon Rises College of Oriental Medicine in Gainesville, Florida and the Ayurvedic Institute in Albuquerque, New Mexico. As an educator, Kyle has taught throughout the United States, Europe, Canada, and Central America on the vast principles of traditional healing. He has also participated with various indigenous groups in South America exploring different plant medicine practices.
In addition to his formal medical training, Kyle has also studied (vedic astrology), various methods of , and herbalism. As a student of nature, Kyle views that the sciences of self-healing and self-discovery are of deep importance for optimal cultivation of wellbeing.
Currently, Kyle lives in Florida operating an acupuncture clinic and teaches as much as possible.
Breath-Work: Prana and Dosha Control
For thousands of years yogis have experimented with unique breathing techniques, called pranayamas, to reach higher states of consciousness and wellbeing. It is considered that an empowered breath is essential to healthy life and an important component for developing your yoga practice. This workshop will explore foundational breath-work practice through safe but effective techniques which all levels are welcome to attend.
OJAS - In Ayurveda, ojas is our radiance and vigor. It influences everything from our immunity, digestion, physical strength, and the
health of our skin to our spiritual inclination, sleep, and mood. This workshop will outline what ojas is, how it can be optimally developed and what factors deplete it.
