It’s today! Before we’ll consider putting our restaurant into a complex, we always have one question…. “Will you have a dog friendly patio space?” Because let’s be real. Dogs make you happy, tacos make you happy. Dogs and tacos together are pure bliss. 🤗 So grab your doggo and head up to or ! (This cutie spotted this weekend patiently waiting on some tacos)

Good morning! We recently returned from some time we took for ourselves to relax, unplug and spend some time with our kids. We visited the gorgeous mountains and glacier lakes of British Columbia. Isn’t it beautiful? If you’ve inquired about catering, truck shifts or anything else in our absence, I’m trying to get to those messages today. Thank you for your patience!

When you eat at a food truck in the heat of the summer, remember, whatever the temperature outside, it’s at least ten degrees warmer inside! There are fryers and grills and microwaves and all sorts of appliances that bring the heat! It’s cool to show grace and love (and tips) for those working so hard in the heat for you. We’ve got one more weekend of food truckin’ then we’ll take off for July and August. It’s just too hot. 🥵

You may have noticed our social posts have been sparce lately. As an elder millennial, I’ve actually spent the better part of my life without the existence of social media. It can be overwhelming and nasty, and often serves as a place to vent for those didn’t grow up in a time when face to face conversation was the normal way we communicated with each other. (In fact it seems that every generation is starting to forget how to communicate issues face to face, but I digress.) Sometimes… often, I want to shut it all down, but then there’s the business. How can one possibly run a successful business in this day and age without social media?

If you’ve ever ran a business account or have followed dreams of becoming a social media influencer, you know the drill.

“You have to be consistent. You can only post at certain times. You need to post X amount of times on this platform per week and X amount of times on that one. Your photos all need to be aesthetically pleasing. Make sure you use the right hashtags. Tag the businesses you are collaborating with. Don’t forget how important it is to create reels every week!”

Y’all it is absolutely draining and it leads to burnout for me very quickly.

We got into this business because we love the hospitality aspect of it. We love to cook and throw parties. We love to come up with creative new dishes. We actually enjoy running and growing our business. We love our employees and like working hard to create a space where we can all have fun and thrive while still taking care of business.

We don’t love doing all of that and then spending hours a week wracking our brains to figure out what we need to post and yelling at our teenagers to “come help me figure out how to do this thing on TikTok!”

And I know there are people out there who love social media and people who make a living out of helping others run their social media accounts and I think that’s awesome. We’ve even done that in the past, but in the process, I felt that we lost our voice. Our account wasn’t really showing who we are and that’s important to us. So for the time being, I’m going to pivot. I’ll post about fun and not so fun things going on with our restaurant and our people. If I feel like pushing a post through at midnight on a Saturday, (gasp, the horror!) I’ll do that. If I take a great pic of something and there’s a blurry finger in the corner, ya might see that one cross your feed! Maybe I’ll hashtag, maybe I won’t. If I don’t post a single thing for a week or two, I’m not going to beat myself up about it.

I would love to post interesting stories about some of our guests so send me a PM if you’d like to tell us a fun FT story! All I know is that attempting to do all the “right” things is starting to suck the joy out of running this business. I’m ok with getting messy and getting real. I just have to get back to the fun parts. And I like posting the fun parts. Really showing everyone who we are, and not worrying at all about how many people my posts are bringing in to our place.

Pictured: This morning, taking the first bites of our new empanada inspired by a random early morning airport conversation over Bloody Mary’s with a woman who spent half an hour talking to us about the wonders of Colorado Chili Verde. We came home and had fun in the kitchen trying out our own pork chili verde empanada. We’ll put it on the menu this afternoon and leave it for a bit if you guys like it!
