We're a nonprofit foster home based rescue, focused on major medical cases, seniors, and neonates in OKC. It is our goal to save the un-savable.
Mutt Misfits exists to help unwanted animals in situations that could lead to harm or euthanasia in. We primarily focus on animals with major medical illnesses, injuries, or advanced age that are often overlooked. By partnering with shelters and the public, we promote responsible pet ownership, spay and neuter, and the adoption of special needs pets. We are a foster-based rescue and rely on donati

$5 Friday - Help Tank our hospice Lab
This is Tank! He's 12 years young and first came to us with a huge tumor on his belly. It's been removed and all healed up for a while, but this guy is now in liver failure. 😢 He is one of our hospice fosters and will spend as many happy, good days as he has left with us. He takes medications and has specialty food to manage his condition, which adds up, and we could use your help to make sure he gets as many good days as possible in his golden years! 🙏🌞

Buster B’Good McFluff things!
Buster's health is continuing to get better and better! Here is what his foster family shared for his most recent update:
Fluffy dog is really showing his personality now. Picking him up still requires his distinct permission or it’s not going to happen. Outside of that, it’s hard to believe this guy is over eight years old. He will play fetch with a tennis ball until your arm gives out. It’s his favorite thing. He’s almost done with meds, gets a check up this week, and then we’ll see what next steps are. He’s sweet and funny, loves treats, knows commands like go to bed (kennel), sit, where’s your ball?, and we’re working on drop it but he’s still a little protective of his favorite toy. He’s going to make a great best friend for someone! 🥰🐶
Meet Honey! She is just over a year old, around 50 lbs, and a German Shorthair Pointer/Pittie mix who can't wait to meet her forever family! 🏠
Her name suits her well as she is super sweet and loves to cuddle. She can be slow to warm up to new people but loves her people so much! Honey is a big fan of her chew toys and loves a good squeaky toy! She enjoys playing with dog friends too! 🏉🐶
Honey is kennel and house trained. She is good with other dogs and has been exposed to different breed and sizes. As always, slow introductions are best! We're unsure how she is with cats. She has been around older children and would probably be okay with younger ones as she's not prone to biting or scratching when she plays. 👩👧👧☺️
She is very food motivated which should make training go great! She loves treats and is learning her basic commands. She and her siblings do best eating separately from each other.
Sweet Honey would make a great addition to any dog-loving family who will give her the patience she needs to adjust to a new home and routine and we can't wait to find the one that's meant for her!

Foster homes needed 🙏🏠
We don't have a physical facility and rely on foster families to provide the safe, loving homes our pets need as they get the care they need or wait to be adopted. Without foster families, none of this life-saving work would be possible. ❤
We currently have dogs in boarding that need foster homes. Boarding is a last resort, costly, and never an ideal situation for a doggo. Boarding doesn't mean bad dogs! These dogs are only in boarding as they didn't have a foster family that could take over their care. 😢
Consider being a foster hero for one of these dogs! Fostering is so rewarding! We cover all vet care, food, and any needed supplies. 🦴 🥎

🌟Adopt Kelly 🌟
How is this sweetheart still hunting for his forever home? Meet Kelly! He is a 5 month old little house panther ready to find his forever family!
Kelly is sweet, playful, cuddly - all the things to love about kittens! He is good with other cats and kittens and loves to play with his litter mates and foster siblings. He is good with dogs, big and small, but of course would do best in a home with dogs that are respectful of their feline friends. Kelly doesn't currently live with children but would be great in a home with kids that know how to play with and be nice to their kitty friends. He is litterbox trained and also does well in a carrier when needed.
He is a charmer, a cuddler, and an absolute joy to have around. Kelly will make a great addition to any cat-loving family!

🌟Adopt Ty🌟
Meet Tiberius Riker, Ty for short. He is 4 years old and 55 lbs and looking for his forever family.
Ty was originally with our rescue as a puppy and was adopted. Sometime later his adopter moved across the country with Ty (he went by a different name then) and sadly ended up with a new person in the home who was abusive and cruel to Ty for years. Thankfully his adopter reached out to return him to us and he has been in an incredible foster home, getting the time, patience, and love he needed to heal and recover. He's come leaps and bounds and is ready for the next big step in his journey.
Ty is a goofy, silly, sweet, and chill guy. He LOVES going on his walk in the morning. Ty actually needs a morning walk to relieve himself. He will go in the backyard but isn’t very keen on it. He walks beautifully on a leash/harness. As a side note, a harness is required for Ty. Part of his abuse was being yanked and pulled by his neck using a lead. He’s fully crate trained and house trained.
Ty isn’t the kind of dog who will play with toys or chase other dogs. He much prefers to lay next to you on the couch and watch Law and Order and Chopped. He really likes Chopped! If the couch is full, he’ll just plop down under your feet. He wants to be close to his person. He barks when he gets excited for his walk or
when he wants a snack (he loves carrots and apples the best). Otherwise, he’s super quiet. He loves getting belly rubs. He tolerates being brushed. He hates having his toenails trimmed.
Ty came to us experiencing TERRIBLE allergies (with awful symptoms) and it took a bit to determine he has a chicken and fish allergy. He eats a specialty food now (Zignature Kangaroo) and gets Cytopoint allergy shots and is now itch and symptom free!
The ideal person/family for Ty would be someone who works from home or is home often during the day. He was kept in a crate for 10-12 hours per day in his previous life and we don’t want him to go back to that way of living. His adopter needs to be able to financially afford his specialty food and his allergy shots. Those are non-negotiable. His adopter needs to commit to taking Ty on a walk every morning. Ideally, he would go to a home with another dog to keep him company but he would be just fine as an only dog. Because of Ty’s abuse, he can’t go to a home with small children. If there are children in the home, he would need children over the age of 10, who can respect his boundaries.
Tiberius deserves the absolute best home where he can be spoiled, loved and treated with gentleness and kindness. For the rest of his life.
If you feel that you can give Ty the home life he deserves, apply to meet / adopt at www.muttmisfits.org/adoption-application

🌟Adopt Ruby 🌟
She is a 2 year old, 12 lb cockapoo with special needs that is ready to find her forever family!
This sweet little thing has a little bit of a special condition that presents a lot like megaesophagus. To manage this she eats in her chair and spends time upright after meals, and can't have any liquids. She takes requires daily medications (cost $150/month). However, her special needs don’t slow her down, and quite simply, all she wants is someone to snuggle with her and let her sleep in their bed.
She is her foster mom’s little shadow, following her everywhere, looking to catch a little cuddle any chance she gets. Ruby lives with other dogs and cats and does great with everyone. She really doesn’t need another dog to live a happy and full life. Due to her not being able to have treats, crumbs, snacks, or water, it would be best if she went to a home with children old enough to understand these boundaries.
Ruby is an absolute doll and deserves to find a family that appreciates her needs as much as we do! You can send inquiries to our director of adoptions at [email protected] or apply to meet / adopt at www.muttmisfits.org/adoption-application

🌟$5 Friday - Help a rescue dog TODAY 🌟
This Friday, consider donating, even just $5, to help a rescue pet like senior Buster B'Good McFluff get the care they need. Buster came to us from our local shelter with a URI that turned into pneumonia and sepsis and required days of hospitalization. He's doing so much better now but his care and costs are still ongoing, just like the many other rescue pets in our care.
This week we need to spend over $400 on rabies vaccines and microchips (we're all out). Our boarding cost is $765/week. And these are a just a few of the expenses we have to keep our rescue running and pets cared for.
Every single dollar helps! 💵No donation is too small! Can't donate? Please share! 💌 We are 100% donation funded and our rescue work is only possible through our followers' and community's support. ❤

This handsome shepherd mix boy is 4 years old, around 40 lbs. He is great with kids and does best with dogs that aren't all up in his business. Needing a little extra s***k in your life? A friend to help you find that pep in your step? Kat is your lady! This larger than life little spitfire is finally ready to find her forever home.
Kat is around 5 months old and weighs about 9 lbs. She is likely a chihuahua mix and will still be a smaller girl when full grown.
Kat is a typical chihuahua puppy - full of life, goes zero to 100 in 3.5 seconds, and has zero concept of rest. She loves all dogs, big and small, and tends to believe even the cats are her best friends (must be the name)! She has been in foster care since she was 2 weeks old so she's very people oriented. She has never met a stranger and will thrive as a social butterfly and someone wing-woman.
Kat is all things puppy. She does great in a kennel, but is struggling to grasp the concept of potty training. She hasn’t been on a leash much, because when you only weigh 9 pounds, who has time for walking – carrying is her preferred mode of transportation! She will need another fur sibling to pal around with, having grown up from a bottle baby to now with constant doggy companionship. However, she will need an understanding fur sibling because Kat has absolutely no concept of others not being friends. Kat should do well with kids of any age, but adopters need to understand she’s still very young and learning life/boundaries and will crawl on little ones. Her forever home will also need to have a securely fenced yard, as she is very small and can squeeze through tiny spaces.
If you are looking for a new best friend, that is the happiest wild child, Kat may be your perfect match! Apply to meet / adopt at www.muttmisfits.org/adoption-application
Kat is spayed, up to date on all age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, heart-worm negative, and micro-chipped!

Rieka got her happy ever after!
Just over a year ago, Rieka found herself at OKC Animal Welfare as a stray with a suspected broken front leg. We brought her into our rescue program to get her the urgent care she needed. After multiple visits and testing, we found out she wasn't dealing with a broken leg at all. She had cancer. 😭
Rieka underwent a leg amputation and has been carefully monitored over the last year for any cancer returning.
We are thrilled to report that she has been in remission and has found her forever family! Rieka was adopted! Just look at her smile! 😍🏠
THIS! Stories like hers are what your donations and support make possible. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. A big thank you also to foster families that give pets like Rieka the love and care they need when they need it the most. We couldn't do this without you! ❤🥹

Goggles update 🌈
Goggles was taken to Neel Veterinary Hospital last night for emergency care after a coyote attack. Early this morning Goggles went into respiratory distress and was moved to an oxygen tent. Shortly after, his condition took an even worse turn and he we began to lose him. After multiple CPR attempts, we said goodbye to this big, sweet boy. 💔
Run happy and pain-free, Goggles. There are so many friends waiting to meet you and show you the way. 🌈 🐾
Thank you so much to everyone who donated and shared, our Misfit army, to make sure that Goggles got the emergency care and chance he deserves. We are forever grateful for your outpouring of love and support. 🙏🥲
Thank you to the veterinary team at Neel's for always loving each pet like their own and giving him everything possible. ❤🩺
HELP NEEDED 🚨 ‼️
Holiday weekends always bring challenges and when we are already financially strapped, accidents carry a whole new meaning.
Goggles has been in foster care with us for 2 years. Unfortunately, today he was attacked by a coyote at his foster home and is currently at the ER receiving treatment. This is an emergency we were not prepared for and we come here to humbly ask for your help, our Misfit Army.

Found tied to a car bumper two months ago, this girl’s story will break your heart 😩💔.
When rescues are asked to help with animals, they have no way to know what the animal has been through or what they may need to go through. A gracious small rural rescue agreed to take her into their program 🙏.
Upon intake she was 45 pounds, and it quickly became apparent something wasn’t right as she kept losing weight and was unable to keep food down. She is only 37 pounds, about 15 pounds underweight 😟.
⏩ Fast forward to late last week when Mutts was contacted because it was suspected she had megaesophagus, something we are no stranger to. X-rays were performed at our vet and severe megaesophagus was confirmed.
Help us welcome ✨Poppy✨
She is severely underweight and dealt a hand she didn’t deserve, but this is when her luck changes. She is being fed a slurry upright in her chair and taking three meds twice a day. Right now our approach is to manage her correctly and see how she does.
👂To be completely transparent, if she continues to struggle and her quality of life just isn’t there, we will make a difficult decision, but we are nowhere near that decision at this time.
Poppy deserves a chance - her eyes tell a story that breaks our hearts - and as long as she wants to try, we are going to try right alongside her 🫶🏻🙏

S’mores update
First thing first- Thank you to everyone who donated and shared to help cover this guy’s surgery. 🙌🏼
S’mores is recovering well from his tail amputation. He was clearly in a lot of pain and discomfort because his playful and energetic personality has fully blossomed! 🌸😍
Before getting the vet care he needed he was much more subdued and didn’t want to play at all. It was easy to think he may just be a really mellow guy. But he’s only around a year old and it’s showing! He is acting like a fun, young boy should and we’re so happy to see him enjoying life and feeling better. 🐾❤️
He’s always moving nowadays so he’s hard to snag a photo of but his foster mom caught him during a brief play break. He’s still in the dreaded cone of shame until he heals more but he’s not letting or slow him down.
Lady Marmalade update
This little lady is setting into her foster home so well! Our heart breaks that her person is no longer here and she has clearly been missing human companionship. We've learned Marmie is quite the snuggle bug and would happily sit in your lap and follow you around all day. She likes wandering around the garden following her foster mom too. 🥰🌿
She is still getting treatment for an upper respiratory infection but is getting better and better and is on the first stage of her heartworm treatment. ❤️🩹
Thank you to everyone who donated to help Marmie get the vet care she desperately needed. Her little life is better because of you! 🫶🥹
This handsome chunk is still looking for a special forever home 🩵
Meet DeVito! He is a 9 month old, 30 lb, happy, sweet Bully boy with special needs. He has a condition called hydrocephalus and will require a very special home.
Due to his condition, DeVito has little to no vision in his right eye and little to no hearing on the right side and possibly left. DeVito needs a very structured home that thrives on daily routine and not swaying in that routine from day to day. With that said, DeVito takes several meds each day – an anti-seizure med, a steroid, and two meds to help with fluid production and retention, costing approximately $150 a month. These meds must be given at the prescribed time and a dose cannot be missed, ever. 💊⏰
DeVito has a lot of love to give in a very special way, but adopters need to fully consider all of his needs. Additionally, he is not potty trained and may never be; most likely at a minimum he will always have accidents. DeVito’s perfect home cannot have stairs and if there are fur siblings, they need to be very understanding because DeVito doesn’t understand social cues from other animals. Due to his needs for routine and structure, DeVito will do best in a home without small children.
You can read his full bio here! https://www.petfinder.com/dog/devito-71133661/ok/oklahoma-city/mutt-misfits-society-ok459/

Foster or forever home needed for our Angel girl 🩷
Angel is 1.5 yrs old, 45 lbs. She is such a great girl who is stuck in boarding and needs a foster home with a family to love on while she waits to be adopted.
She is a sweetie and loves to be around people and has a smile for everyone she meets! She has done well with older kids and would be best with older children simply because she is a playful girl and may knock smaller kids down accidentally. She enjoys snuggling up on the couch with you or simply laying by your feet and taking a nap. ❤
🐶Angel is great with other dogs and loves to play with dog friends. She recently made friends with a 25 lb doggo about her age and they had a great time together! She does find very small dogs and cats pretty interesting and would love to play with them but they don't tend to love her back and she doesn't understand that they aren't really big enough to play with her, so she would be best in a home without very small dogs or cats. 🐱
💦Angel LOVES to play in the water and would make a great lake buddy! She enjoys playing outside, playing with other dogs, and especially playing with toys of all kinds! She also likes to play fetch! She knows sit and walks well on a loose leash. She also takes treats very nicely. She is starting work on "down" and "off". She does jump sometimes when excited but is a smart girl and a quick learner. She is a good car rider. Angel is crate trained and loves a blanket in her kennel. She likes to sleep on a dog bed at night by your bed. She is has done well learning house training. 🏠
Like any dog in a boarding or shelter environment, she'll need a few days to decompress and settle into a new place. She has so much to offer and just needs a person or family to give her the time she deserves to blossom into an incredible family member!

Buster B'Good update
This guy is continuing to improve in his foster home since getting to leave the hospital. He spent several days hospitalized for pneumonia, his infection so bad he was septic, but he's doing better and better every day! He's still on antibiotics and we're keeping a close eye on him but we're so glad to see his progress. 🙌❤️🩹
Buster is around 8 years old and such a sweet guy. He craves human interaction and loves to be pet. He's not the biggest fan of being picked up but he clearly craves human companionship. He was found as a stray and did have a microchip but the people it was still registered to said they had rehomed him years ago and didn't have contact info for his family. He sadly never had a family come forward when he was serving his stray hold in the shelter. 😢
He's getting all the love and attention he craves and deserves in his foster home. Nothing but good days ahead, Buster! ☀️🐶
