City Cuts Covid -19 Rules and Regulations

In order to create a safe environment for our Staff and Clients, City Cuts will follow Strict Rules for re-opening as of May 1st under the following guidelines.

1. Upon entry, everyone will be required to wear disposable gloves. Your temperature may also be checked, if it’s 99.2 or higher you will not be allow to enter and will be asked to reschedule.

2. All clients will be required to wear a mask upon entering the Shop.

3. One client per Stylist/Barber at a time. If you’re not being serviced, please wait in your car until your stylist/barber is available.

4. NO CHILDREN ALLOWED UNLESS BEING SERVICED. Same rules apply for children. If your child is under the age of 8 , you may accommodate your child. Only one child per adult.

5. NO EXTRA people allowed in the salon. Come alone to your appointment, unless you are a special needs client and require assistance.

6. The staff at City Cuts will work in shifts. There’s 11 of us total, no more than 5 people will
work at a time and 5 clients at a time in order to practice social distancing as well as we can. See your barber/stylist for scheduling. Only 10 people in the shop at a time.

7. All Stying,Barber, waiting area chairs, Shampoo chairs, and work stations will be sanitized in between each client, also door handles and faucets. The restrooms will BE CLOSED. The shop will also be deep cleaned before re-opening and cleaned at the end of the work day.

8. All Stylist and Barbers will be required to wear disposable gloves and mask during services. We can’t use hot tools with plastic gloves on, but we will wash our hands before we curl your hair.

9. ALL CLIENTS will need to be shampoo prior to service; Please add an additional $5 (if this isn’t usually included in your service). Also, No curling iron only services will be available at the present time.

10. We will disinfect regularly through out the day by wiping down all areas including door k***s and handles. We will use disinfectant and sanitation products approved by the Oklahoma State Board of Cosmetology and Barbering or EPA-Registered and labeled as bacterial, viricidal, and fungicidal to clean tools and implements used. Always remember safety first!

This policy will be in place until this pandemic is over.

Have you ever had staticky hair and wondered why or how to get rid of it? Well here’s the answer to that question, dehydration. Usually more so during the winter time it’s caused by a lack of moisture in the air. Going outside from windy and cold conditions then coming inside to dry heat doesn’t help us much. Here’s the remedy...

1. ALWAYS use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner! ALWAYS

2. Spray a little hairspray on your hair and rub with your hands NOT a plastic comb, that will cause more static.

3. MY OLD TIME FAVORITE..,, Rub your hair with a dryer sheet! Works every time! 😉

Please understand that everyone does not have the same texture of hair, and everyone does not have the same amount of time or patience to put into styling their hair everyday. We take pride in educating our clients about choosing the right style that fits their lifestyle, their personal style, and that’s best for their texture and length of their hair. Happy Hair Tip Tuesday! A bit of advice... Stop saying one style is better than the other. People say wigs are better than sewins or that having leave out will break your hair off. It’s all about the maintenance of the hair AFTER you leave the salon. Example, if you wear a silk press it will LAST longer depending on your activity level. If you workout and sweat, you don’t wrap your hair, depending on your hormone levels, the climate you live in etc all that should be taken into consideration when you say “it didn’t last”. Wigs are great but can rub your edges out over a period of time. Sewins are great if you protect your leave out. Frontals are NOT for everyone, they don’t last and slide a lot. If you are not educated on the maintenance that’s required rest assure that it’s very temporary and recommend for celebrities that can AFFORD the maintenance. Remember Lace is very temporary. Most installs are done with glue so if you have oily skin or workout, or party a lot you’ll be back in the salon in two days saying it didn’t last. My advice...always educate yourself first before trying a style to make sure it works for you. is key

HAIR TIP TUESDAY... Late night edtion

1. A perm is NOT a relaxer

2. A Relaxer relaxes your curl pattern.

3. A perm Curls your hair, therefore it’s called a permanent wave.

4. You use “perm rods” to achieve your curl pattern during a permanent wave service that’s why they’re Called “Perm Rods”

5. A relaxer should NOT make your hair bone straight and remove all the elasticity. Some texture should be left in your hair to help maintain healthy Integrity!

6. Each Service is a chemical mixture and should be done by a licensed educated stylist.

Happy Hair Tip Tuesday! 💇🏽‍♀️ Many natural clients choose to co-wash instead of actually shampooing their hair. Please ignore what your favorite 🙄“YouTubeNaturalista” is telling you. You NEED to shampoo your hair. When you co-wash your hair all the time it’s just like putting on lotion everyday without bathing 🧼! All that does is causes build-up on your hair and leaves it dull and dry and hard to style. Co-washing is great to do maybe two days or so before you actually shampoo your hair especially if you have hot flashes or if you workout, but don’t rely on that as your method for cleansing your hair. You can not cleanse your hair with conditioner, it is not designed for that. I hope this helps someone ♥️♥️

Happy Hair Tip Tuesday! Lets talk about Hair Shedding... First Shedding is normal, it’s something that healthy hair does naturally. When you have excessive shedding then you should be concerned. If you don’t brush or comb through your hair everyday then you decide to comb it, it will seem like There’s a lot of hair coming out but really it’s just the hair that would have shedded on a daily basis. Hormonal changes, stress and Medications can cause excessive shedding, more than likely there’s an internal problem. You can not treat Hair Shedding with hair grease (my people 🤦🏽‍♀️) or oils it’s not gonna stop the Shedding. I really hope this helps someone, remember after wearing braids and weaves that it will appear that you’re losing more hair, that’s because the hair that sheds daily has nowhere to fall.

It’s a wave 🌊 This is a very low maintenance style. I recommend it for busy people or for those who workout a lot. Happy Tuesday ♥️🌊♥️🌊♥️🌊😍

Happy Hair Tip Tuesday! I have gotten so many questions about children’s hair care. The question I’ve gotten the most is, “why is my child’s hair so dry and why does her hair texture seem to be changing. Well, a child will not display it’s true texture until around ages 3 or 4. If the child’s hair seems to feel dry and brittle, and if you’re trying to solve the problem with “hair grease” that won’t help. Remember dry means you need moisture just as plants do from the inside out. No matter the age, make sure your child is well hydrated and using moisturizing water based products, then use a natural oil to lock in that moisture like a jojoba oil or an avocado oil. Less heat is always a plus so try twisting or braiding the hair. Apply a coconut oil and use gel with Aloe Vera for added moisture. I hope this helps!

Hair Tip!! I hate to be the bearer of bad news but unfortunately thinning edges can come from many things; Braids, tying up your hair at night, hair weaves done incorrectly or a technique that you saw somewhere (YouTube) that’s not good for your hair type, chemicals, and the one no one wants to hear.... hormonal imbalances and GENETICS. I use a vitamin E oil on my clients with that issue, just a small amount and I suggest that they do the same at home, vitamin E is an antioxidant and is great for your hair and also your skin, you can also use a stimulant like peppermint oil, mix it together apply it a few times a week add a hair and skin vitamin for even better results. Choose hairstyles that doesn’t pull on your edges and if you relax your hair apply to your edges last WITHOUT extra smoothing... I hope this helps ♥️💇🏽‍♀️💆🏽‍♂️
