Appreciate the Kindness!
Our Nurses and the OMG Team are here for You!
Last week, Blake Tarana, owner of the local Tim Hortons, presented our maternity & delivery department with a check for over $5,000. The proceeds were raised throughout the Smile Cookie campaign that ran from April 29 – May 5 at our three local Tim Hortons’ locations. Thank you for Blake for his continued support of our hospital as well as the community for their purchases of this year’s smile cookies.
Enjoy the Day!
Happy Father’s Day for all of You Dads out there!

Hot flashes may be impacted by acute changes in physical activity, temperature, and humidity, according to a recent study published in Menopause, the journal of The Menopause Society.
Takeaways:
Acute increases in physical activity significantly raise the risk of experiencing both objective and subjective hot flashes, particularly during waking and sleeping periods.
Higher ambient temperatures are associated with a greater likelihood of subjective hot flashes but not objective ones.
Changes in humidity do not appear to influence the risk of hot flashes.
The study used sternal skin conductance and wrist-worn accelerometers to objectively and subjectively monitor hot flashes and physical activity in real-world settings.
To mitigate nighttime hot flashes, behavioral measures such as using lighter blankets and fans may be beneficial.
Approximately 80% of postmenopausal women experience hot flashes, defined as sudden heat dissipation leading to increased heat transfer and sweating. However, there is still little information about the underlying sources behind these events despite multiple related studies.

Happy Mother’s Day!
Takeaways from a Recent Article regarding Exercise in Pregnancy…..Sweat it Out!!!!!
Engaging in regular exercise during pregnancy is not only safe but highly recommended. It offers numerous benefits for both the mother and the baby, including reducing the risk of gestational diabetes, hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, and preterm birth, as well as improving psychological health and delivery-related outcomes.
Rihanna's performance at the 2023 Super Bowl halftime show, while visibly pregnant, led to a significant increase in interest in pregnant workouts, as evidenced by a 5000% surge in Google searches for "pregnant workouts." This highlights a growing trend and interest in maintaining an active lifestyle during pregnancy.
Despite common practice, activity restriction, particularly bed rest, does not prevent adverse obstetrical outcomes and may even increase the risk of preterm birth. It can lead to physical and psychosocial risks for both the mother and the baby, including cardiorespiratory deconditioning, muscle atrophy, inadequate weight gain, and maternal stress.
The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) recommends that pregnant women engage in at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic physical activity, strength training, pelvic floor training, and gentle stretching spread over 3 to 4 days per week. However, individualized assessments should be made for patients with medical or obstetric complications.
Walking, stationary cycling, dancing, resistance training, stretching, and water aerobics are considered safe and beneficial exercises during pregnancy. Activities with a high risk of abdominal trauma or imbalance, such as collision sports or horseback riding, should be avoided. Modifications may be necessary to accommodate the physiological changes of pregnancy.
Sent by a long standing patient in our practice. It is so nice to be appreciated.
God Bless!

This is a bit long…but this is my last post, for our practice.
I want to take this moment to give thanks to the most inspirational woman in my life.
Shabana Chauhdry has been the Practice Manager of Women’s Health of WNY since its inception. She has been the crux, glue, support, and my everything. She sacrificed so much because of me. Through the highs and lows, running around at crazy hours, juggling our family, staff, patients, my life would be nothing with you. Shabana, you have kept me grounded, energized, sane, focused and most importantly, humble.
How have you been able to deal with me for 30 years? That is no easy feat.
People have congratulated me so many times about going to the Olean Medical Group. You not coming with us is the most difficult thing for me. It will never be the same. My emotions are hard to decipher right now.
Words can not describe my love, respect, gratitude, and sorrow.
How will our next chapter go? Only Allah knows. I do know that You are going to be sorely missed by me more than even I can imagine.

leaps fences, penetrates walls, to arrive at its destination full of hope.” —Maya Angelou

Posted by a friend of mine….
Did you know that a Cesarean section is the only surgery that opens seven layers of tissue and the mother is expected to be standing approximately six hours later as she takes on another little person?
If you are a mother who gave birth via Cesarean section you are stronger than you think. Be proud !!! ❤️
All Mothers are Amazing, irrespective of how You delivered.
Kind of a Rant…
Our staff and myself take pride in our work. We do our best to treat all of our patients with kindness, respect, and dignity.
