Living Matters, LLC
Author of the bestselling Human Design Book – Parenting The Child You Have: Re-Imagining the Parent-Child Relationship Through the Lens of Human Design.
Exciting news: My friend Efrat Shokef's new book on parenting, which involves a near-death experience, is out today, and it's so good! I was honored to write an endorsement for her book. Go grab a copy at amazon!
I am super excited to share that ...
The Promise We Made – Three Universal Soul Promises We Made to Our Children – Near Death Experience and the Parenting Teachings it Invites, is now available on Amazon (and will soon be also in additional stores).
This book baby, has been my compass, guide, and motivation for quite a few years now… and I am honored to now, hand it to you, readers.
Readers are the ones who make a book come to life.
The sentences that meet you.
The pages left with the signs of your tears.
Your moments of laughter.
And then… those insights that become yours, and weave themselves into your own life.
The Promise We Made shares my story of the car crash, Near Death experience, and my quest for the essence of motherhood. What makes me, and all of us, our children’s parents, beyond the doing. The journey led me to three universal soul promises our children, the children of now, ask we follow, and the condition they need to flourish in their journey here on Earth, and stay true to their beautiful essence.
I hope The Promise We Made, meets those it is for in their hearts.

Do you know what to say to someone who is grieving?
Most people don't. Most of us mean well but say all kinds of inappropriate things trying to ease the other's pain.
The truth is, we can't change the pain we feel with repeated platitudes, but we can let them know we're there, that we see them, that we can't know exactly what they're experiencing, but that it's okay for them to be in their feelings.
What is something that was said to you during grief that was either helpful or unhelpful?
Go to my website in the Courses + Resources area to download free guide on what to say/not to say to someone in grief.
Have you sensed there must be a better way to handle relationships? Do you struggle with family interactions?
This essential companion to Aypril Porter’s bestselling Parenting The Child You Have: Re-Imagining the Parent-Child Relationship Through the Lens of Human Design helps you get to the root of problems which may have hindered growth in the past. Whether you have studied Human Design in depth or are just getting started, this workbook will help you better understand and connect to your and your family’s individualized charts.
As you complete the exercises you will learn how to:
☀️ Explore your relationship to your personal chart, journey inward to uncover the truth of who you are, and consider the way it aligns with how you show up in the world.
☀️ Learn Aypril’s five-step process to approaching deconditioning.
☀️ Rediscover yourself and see your family and relationships through a new lens.
☀️ Normalize the differences you see in yourself and others as you discover inherent qualities that each person possesses.
☀️Let go of limiting beliefs that are no longer serving you.
Relationships can be extremely challenging, and with Aypril’s guidance you have a user’s manual for reframing how you see those around you. Step in to a more fulfilling life as you peel back the layers of conditioning in your relationship with yourself, your children, your parents, and others as you journey through the energetic dynamics of Human Design.
How many people do you struggle to connect with in a meaningful way?
How many do you struggle to understand?
How many do you get triggered by and end up defensive and then feel regret for the way you reacted?
Learning about your Human Design and understanding how it interacts with the people you're closest to or spend the most time with can shift your relationships.
When you understand who someone inherently is, you stop expecting them to be the person you want them to be and accept them for who they truly are.
When we are able to be ourselves, and allow others to be themselves, then we are truly free.
The story you tell of your life can make all the difference.
It’s important to look at the stories we repeat each day - some of them are so ingrained in us that we don’t even think twice about the meaning they hold in our lives, and yet they keep us stuck.
We can easily fall victim to the stories we tell, and we also have the ability to change the story, shift perspective, and tell a new story.
This does not mean to gloss over the pain you’ve endured. But it can mean not allowing that pain to define you any longer than necessary.
We can accept the things that have happened, the choices we’ve made, the ways things didn’t turn out as we’d hoped and choose to be in relationship with them in a new way to empower our lives.

Your Human Design is a tool to help you remember the truth of who you are, not to limit you or keep you from the things you want to do in life.
Everything in life is really one big experiment. If it goes against your design and you want to try it, so what? Do it. See how it turns out.
If it doesn't work out as you'd hoped, you'll learn something.
The way I utilize Human Design with clients is to expand what they think is possible for themselves and to normalize the pain of their past.
To help them become the person they truly are underneath the conditioning that life told them they couldn't be their authentic selves.

There is no doubt that parenting is a roller coaster of an adventure that presents its fair share of challenges. Author Aypril Porter uses Human Design to teach readers how to navigate its twists and turns while also creating a closer, richer relationship with their children.
Learn how to understand and appreciate your child’s uniqueness, while also seeing how you differ from each other. As a result, parents can be the best version of themselves while helping children stand tall in their knowledge of who they came here to be. Porter’s gentle, supportive wisdom enables children to be seen, heard, and valued for who they truly are, allowing them to navigate the world from a deep inner wisdom.
Find more compassion for your children and all the people in your life, especially those whose habits drive you crazy!
Your children need you to see them for the unique individuals that they are.
How many of your parenting skills were inherited from your family? From your own upbringing?
And how often do you hear things coming out of your own mouth at your children that sound like your parents but you hated to hear as a kid?
We repeat the patterns we learned. It's what we know.
Society tells us how we should all be, what we should do and we have a choice.
We can subscribe to this idea and go along with it, living a life that, for most of us doesn't feel good, or we can break free, do things our own way and support one another as unique individuals.
We normalize differences.
We let our children know that we see, respect and honor them as individuals.
And we do the same for ourselves.
My book Parenting the Child You Have helps you to see your children as the unique individuals that they are, parent them as they need and parent in a way that supports you too.

PROJECTORS
We are so quick to jump into invitations because we see them with scarcity.
Learn to recognize that the right invitation will be there for you when you get clarity as an emotional authority.
I know it FEELS like if you don't jump in now, you might miss out, but trust that your absence of a yes is seductive. It makes you more desired, and if it's right, they'll come back and invite you again.
Imagine the difference between accepting an invitation at the first invite and wondering if you jumped in too soon versus waiting for a second invitation nd knowing that they went out of their way to ask you twice. How differently might those two invites feel?
Live a life of abundance you were always meant to.
Abundance is your birthright.
Drop a comment below of one way you are abundant in your life currently.
Projectors!
We have to stop feeling like victims of our designs.
Waiting for the invitation is not a detriment.
Knowing you need an invitation for the big things in life allows you to save your precious energy for the things that matter and release the rest.
Permission to stop doing s**t you don't want to do.
I get it.
It's hard to sit in silence and not step up and say, "I'll do it." when no one else wants to do things, but if you weren't recognized and invited, then it's not yours to respond to.
Do you know what recognition feels like for you? I recently replied to this question on a FB post. Here's my answer:
"To me, it feels like someone actually sees inside of me. I feel it in my heart chakra. It feels buzzy and tingly, and it makes me pause and notice it. And I sometimes want to cry with gratitude and hug them."
When you know that you are worthy just as you are and don't need fixing or proving, you learn that you can set boundaries with your heart wide open.
You know that you are worthy of love, attention, and affection, and you know others are too. You hold more compassion and allow yourself to keep your heart open when you set boundaries that protect your time and energy.
We wait for a better time.
When the kids move out.
When we retire.
When we have more money.
When we feel more settled. More secure.
When we have less to do.
Ha!
The joke is on us. There is no perfect time when you analyze it 47 ways to Sunday.
Take the leap.
Go after the life you want.
Tomorrow is not guaranteed.

As much as we dislike pain in life, in our bodies, we can learn a lot from what our bodies tell us when we slow down enough to tap into our body's innate wisdom.
That rock in your stomach can have medical reasons, sure, but it can also have emotional and spiritual reasons as well.
We can generalize what some of these sensations can mean, but honestly, I find that in coaching the hundreds of clients I have, I am always surprised at how many ways this can show up and what it can mean.
I go into each session with a deep curiosity for what you are experiencing and what it means to you. I don't assign predesigned meanings to what you feel and experience. I am not you and have not lived your life, so there is no way for me to know that, but I can guide you to access your truth and understand what it means for you.
That pain in your shoulder that won't go away or comes and goes at seemingly the most random of times can, with a little attention, be uncovered to align with something else going on in your life.
Want to learn more about this process? Book a free session to learn more.
How much of your life have you spent trying to control the outcomes?
For me? Too much.
The more out of control I have felt, the more I tried to control the things in my life that I could, right down to ridiculous things that DO NOT MATTER.
They truly don't.
What I learned and continue to learn is that when we surrender to the truth of what is, we find far more freedom and ability to change course and navigate life with more grace than when we fight it.
It feels counterintuitive to let go to feel more in control, but it's true. When you release that control and accept what is happening where you are at, then you can choose with much more clarity how you truly want to respond to what life has brought you.
No, it doesn't mean you have to like it. Or want it.
But when has denying reality ever changed it?
Want to learn how to accept the things that you struggle with the most? Let's talk. Book a free session at ayprilporter.com
Whew.
This one.
How many people do you have in your life that challenge you to your core?
How many people do you wish were different? That they would just see your side of things. Do things your way.
How many people do you feel like you provoke without even doing anything?
Some of us are designed to provoke. To correct. To put pressure on others. To inspire. To support. To influence. To lead. To sense others emotions. To sense others health. To sense into others fears.
But when you learn what your role is and how to engage with those people, you realize that some things are just the energetics of two different people coming together in a way that is provoking if you can see that as an external influence, rather than an intentional challenge between you and the other person, you can release the expectation that they or you should be different.
You learn to allow others to play their role in life without being so triggered by them.
And you learn to set boundaries around what you take in from them, how much time you spend with them, and what you allow if it's too much for you.
When you know yourself better, you learn what works for you and what doesn't.
And you learn that other people who don't have access to this knowledge are just doing the best they can with what they know.
I know I have more compassion for people in my life who have challenged me and I can show you how you can too.

Human Design is a tool to help you anchor into the truth of who you are so that when life throws you curveballs (because it will), you can lean into what you know to be true about yourself and navigate it in a way that is best for you. It enables you to recognize ancestral patterns and stop them from repeating with your children. You can live a life of freedom to be uniquely you and to teach your children to be uniquely themselves.
Stop hitting the snooze button 17 times every morning.
Go to bed tonight excited about tomorrow, and live your life with purpose.
☀️ You'll learn to set boundaries around your time, energy, and health and not get led back into the old patterns of:
☀️ Volunteering when you really don't want to.
☀️ Saying yes because someone has to do it, and no one else is stepping up.
☀️ Taking on more and more to feel valuable to others and the world.
☀️ Not letting others learn through their own process and always stepping in to rescue them.
☀️ Taking responsibility for others' actions (or lack of) and emotions.
Imagine what you'll contribute to the world when you give from a place of fulfillment, recognizing your unique gifts and offering them to the world on your terms rather than letting others take what they want.
I believe that you are enough just as you are.
"Life isn't happening to you. It's happening from within you."
Life happens.
It doesn't happen to you. It just happens.
How we interpret it defines how we experience it.
Based on our lived experiences, our reactivity from past experiences.
When we learn to respond versus react, we change how we experience life.
When we realize that the only thing we can control in life is our reaction/response to life, we put the focus where it's effective.
