The City of Tenino-Government had a ceremony to mark it becoming a Gold Star City in support of Gold Star Families who lost loved ones in service to our country. Tenino is the first known city in the State and Country that has this designation, to our knowledge.
VFW Post 5878 hosted a ceremony at the Tenino Veterans Memorial and afterwards a proclamation was read by Tenino Mayor, Dave Watterson, at a Tenino City Council meeting. The VFW presented the city with three signs to be posted at entry points into the town.
A local gold star mother and spouse were in attendance. Jerry Fugich, Chair of the Veterans Legislative Coalition, was also in attendance.
Meet Sam Mitchell from the Washington Employment Security Department (ESD) and listen in as he shares how this year’s Serving Those Who Served Conference is providing a platform for ESD to continue serving veterans and their families.
Sam also shares how his agency utilized the conference to host a Jobs for Veteran Services Grant (JVSG) meeting for ESD leaders.
We are so fortunate to have ESD partner for this year’s conference and are continuing to bridge the gap of cross- sharing available services and resources, so no matter which agency’s door a veteran or their family may walk through, they will receive all available resources.
