New restrictions for the Law Library. Beginning March 17, the Law Library will be closed to everyone except law students who have an emergency need to enter. No staff will be present to assist students. Requests for emergency permission should be addressed to Dean Gomez.

Barbara Jordan was the first Southern African American woman to be elected to the United States House of Representatives. She is known for her opening statements to the House Judiciary Committee hearings during the impeachment process of Richard Nixon. She was also the first African American to deliver the keynote address at the Democratic National Convention. On this day in Black American History, the NAACP is formed by a bi-racial group of concerned citizens in response to the rampant violence created by racially-motivated hate crimes throughout the country. The NAACP would go on to become one of the largest and widely-recognized civil rights organizations in the country.
