Barbara Jordan was the first Southern African American woman to be elected to the United States House of Representatives. She is known for her opening statements to the House Judiciary Committee hearings during the impeachment process of Richard Nixon. She was also the first African American to deliver the keynote address at the Democratic National Convention. On this day in Black American History, the NAACP is formed by a bi-racial group of concerned citizens in response to the rampant violence created by racially-motivated hate crimes throughout the country. The NAACP would go on to become one of the largest and widely-recognized civil rights organizations in the country.

FYI: Restricted Parking This Weekend

The annual Cruisin' Reunion event in downtown Ontario will result in road closures and restricted access to Law Library parking September 15-17.

Visitors wishing to park in our lot this weekend will need to have a printed Library Visitors Pass in hand as well as present a photo ID. (See comments for PDF of this year's Library Visitors Pass.)
