ICYMI: 🏆 OUSD hosted its second annual RoboPlay Challenge at El Modena High. Over 100 students from six schools participated in the UC Davis Center for Integrated Computing and STEM Education competition. Congratulations to all our winning students who showcased their programming and problem-solving skills in a fun, competitive environment! 🤖🎉 -STEM

Congratulations to Portola Middle School, awarded a Middle Schools Foundational Academies Grant (MSFA)! This prestigious program supports schools in establishing academies that prepare students for high-quality Career Technical Education (CTE) pathways at the local high school.

This grant will enable Portola to create a new middle school CTE Business and Finance class. This exciting coursework is being developed in partnership with the Department of Economics at California State University of Fullerton, ensuring a solid foundation for our students before they enter the CTE Business Management Pathway at Orange High School.

The California Department of Education MSFA grant program is a fantastic opportunity for Portola to equip our students with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in their chosen career paths.

The El Modena Branch Library, in partnership with Orange Unified School District, is offering free lunches for children and teens age 18 and under. Lunch at the Library runs June 10 – July 25, from 12:00 – 1:00 PM on Mondays – Thursdays. Meals are available on a first-come, first-served basis. No sign-up, application, income verification, or identification is necessary. Fun activities will also be available at 1:30 pm, including Discovery Cube’s STEAM enrichment program and Summer STEAM presented by the Orange Public Library Foundation. ICYMI: New for the 2024-25 school year, Orange Unified will offer parents and guardians a free app called Stopfinder that will allow them to have information at their fingertips regarding their child(ren)’s bus pick-up and drop-off times and locations, including customized proximity and estimated time of arrival (ETA) notifications. Orange Unified is the first district in Orange County to offer this service to parents.
