Shifted Arrow
🧘♀️helping caretakers & over extenders reconnect to their body & spirit ✨bring back your sparkle
Your self-care muscle needs to be exercised just like any other muscle. Use it or lose it, right?? Maybe you do well for 3-4 days of incorporating your self-care activities into you day and then get busy with work and you stop. Or maybe you tell yourself you are too busy taking care of your kids to even THINK about doing anything for yourself. I hear you!
BUT sometimes you must take a really hard look at yourself and ask, "What habits are preventing me from practicing my self-care activities?" 😮
I have had clients tell me they can't exercise for 30 minutes because they are too busy but stay up until midnight scrolling on their phone or watching tv. There are so many more examples of people not taking their self-care activities seriously. Act and prioritize adding a little self-care into your day. If a candle lights you up, then get your favorite scent and place it next to you while you work from home. You can schedule a walk into your schedule during your day for 15 minutes if your self-care is to get more movement into your day. You get the idea! Get creative and don't your habits or excuses get in the way,
Lifestyle behavioral choices are the leading cause contributor to premature death over genetics, social circumstances, environmental factors, and access to healthcare. As a certified health coach, I can help you co-create a plan to help you achieve your goals for your health and well-being. I will continue to support you throughout your journey and help address any barriers to your goals that may come up.

Self-awareness or self-study into action is self-care. The tricky part is that you MUST be willing to observe yourself. You need to come from a place of curiosity and compassion. Taking a bird's eye view and looking underneath a potential "mask" or "lens" that you wear can help you discover your ingrained patterns of thoughts and behavior. Once you uncover and see the patterns, you can start to see if they still serve you or not. You can be free to feel into the feeling and allow anything that isn't surviving you to move through and out. This gives you the freedom to be who you truly are and live your life at your most authentic, highest frequency. And there, you will become a magnet for your desires.
A complaint is a unsaid desire. 🤯 Yup, that can be a tough pill to swallow OR it can be an opportunity. What's the opportunity, you say?? Well, think of a complaint that you recently made. Was there a hidden desire underneath the complaint? For example, the complaint may be: "No one cleans up after themselves." So, the desire would be: "I want people to clean up after themselves so we have a clean home." OR the complaint may be: "I hate going to work." The desire may be: "I want a new job that values my efforts."
The opportunity here is to have some self-study or awareness when this happens next time. Can you see what the secret desire is under your complaint?

This month we explore self-care and the self-awareness to know when we are depleted with our self-care activities.Part of self-care is setting and maintaining boundaries.
Are you the type of person who can't say NO? Even when it depletes your energy? You remember that important message from the flight attendants...you need to put on your oxygen mask before you put it on your kids?? It's the same in life. You must protect your own energy so that you can thrive in life (sometimes just to survive).
Setting boundaries with work or a family member that is negative or drains you is self-care. Setting boundaries also can carve out more time in your schedule for self-care.
Tips:
💜Start small if this is a new 'muscle' for you to flex. Maybe it's saying "no" to yourself when you pick up your phone to scroll when you are bored and go for a walk instead.
➡️ "No." is a complete sentence. You don't need to explain yourself to anyone.
🌟If you need to set a boundary with someone else, practice saying your boundary to yourself in the mirror. I know it sounds silly, but it does help. Or you can practice saying it to a trusted friend to build your confidence.
I love teaching studio classes. They create community. But there are reasons why people get in to private yoga classes. Some clients want to focus on learning how to do a specific pose. Others want to work toward a specific goal like decreasing stress, improving balance, or strengthening their core after they have a baby. When you and I work together, we will discuss your "why" and personalize the "how".
Why private yoga classes?
💜personalized yoga sequences
🌟specific breathing techniques and meditations for what you need
🧘♂️one on one instruction
💫communication on how a pose feels in your body so you can adjust and modify as needed

Yes!! Having a self-care routine has been proven to:
🙂reduce & eliminate anxiety and depression
🌟reduce stress
💜increase happiness
💗build strong relationships
➡️help you adapt to changes
💫recover from setbacks
It can also help reduce heart disease, strokes, and cancer.
Take some time to think about what really feels nourishing to you and start to implement some of them into your daily life. They don't have to take up a lot of time in your day or cost any money.
Self-care is different for everyone and it can change depending on what season of your life you are in. For many people, they have no idea what helps them recharge or what would feel like self-care for them. And that's ok! If that's you, I challenge you to take 5 minutes to get quiet in your mind and body and bring your attention to this question. Give yourself some grace and compassion.
Remember this shouldn't feel like another task on your to-do list! This should be fun! Get your creative juices flowing with these questions:
What lights me up?
Where can I find bliss/joy? (beyond the materialistic things)
What helps me recharge?

Relinquishing control is hard to do BUT it's even more challenging to do in our most intimate relationships with our family and friends. Control and intimacy are opposites. The more you try to control, the less intimacy you will have in that relationship. 🫨 Many times we believe we are helping the other person, but there really is an underlying need to control.
I have really had to practice this over the past several years with my teenagers. The balance between what I think is best for them and micromanaging them so it works out like I think is should with allowing them to make their own decisions and holding space for them to make mistakes. Now, don't get me wrong, sometimes I choose control because I also know their prefrontal cortex is still developing. I know our relationships have improved when I come from a place of curiosity instead of questioning and keeping my heart open while I listen to them.
Do you see anything that connects these together? These are things that are in your direct control. You can waste a lot of your precious energy on trying to control or change another person or situation. When you release the need to control, you can focus your energy. Use your freed up energy to practice self-care so you can be a magnet for your desires. You can create more intimacy in your relationships. You can have faith that everything is working out in your best interest and in divine timing. How does that sound to you?
Focused energy is very powerful. The opposite is also true. Scattered energy is chaotic and diluted. When you stay in your own lane, you have focused energy. When you choose to try and control people and situations that aren't in your direct control, you scatter your energy. What can you gain if you reclaim all of your scattered energy by staying in your own lane?
You will have more time for:
🌟self-care to keep your unique frequency radiating out into the world
🧲becoming a magnet for your desires
💜discovering things that light you up and lead you to your purpose
I am here to coach you in relinquishing control and becoming a magnet for what you truly want in your life. Contact me by the link in my bio or schedule a clarity call to see if coaching is a right fit for you.
Woo hoo! Time to celebrate Yoga!🎊🌟
I have said this before and I am saying it again...I don't know how I stumbled onto meditation and pranayama (moving energy through your breath) but it changed my life. I had practiced the physical act of yoga for many years but I didn't know there were 7 other Limbs of Yoga! I am so thankful that yoga helped me through a rough transition period. I wanted everyone to know how yoga could help them too so I became a yoga teacher. I am so blessed to meet people through yoga whether through teaching, being in a teacher training, taking a class, or working at a studio with you.
Namaste!
Read that again. You say you want something different, but do you REALLY? Change takes discipline and it can be uncomfortable. It will challenge your nervous system because you are breaking old patterns and thoughts.
For example:
If you want to eat a healthier diet but you usually buy sweets to keep in the house, then do something differently and don't buy the sweets so they aren't in your house to eat! Or when you have the craving for sweets, go for a walk or hold a plank for as long as you can.
If you feel stressed and overwhelmed consistently with your work. Change it up! If you normally work through lunch, then change it up by mindfully eating and doing a 10 minute meditation before returning back to work. See if you are more productive, more inspired, or more focused when you return.
Phew! This is a doozy! Many times we get STUCK in our old way of thinking thanks to deep embedded patterns in our brain that come from our childhood and upbringing, culture, and social norms. The good news is you can create new neural pathways and change the story. Yay! It takes a lot of energy to cultivate the opposite to what we normally would do. Make sure you are ready for change by really taking care of yourself and sending yourself some compassion. It may not be easy to create change, but it will be worth it.
If you would like help to learn strategies for change in your life, reach out to me or schedule a clarity call for private coaching (link in bio).
Happy Father's Day to all the Dads out there! Hope you have a great day enjoying your special day.
Have you ever noticed that when you are tired or stressed that you easily become triggered? Maybe your reaction to a person or situation is totally over the top compared to what your normal reaction would be. In those times, I want you to take stock of what you have done over the past several days or week to nourish yourself. Usually, your self-care activities are low and your internal tank is on empty or running dangerously low. What can you do to get back into balance qu**ky? How can you uplevel your energy to have space to find the "pause" before you respond instead of just react? Let me know in the comments below.
I am available to teach private yoga classes in-person or virtually. Whether you want to work on something specific in your yoga practice, concentrate on a certain body part (i.e. hip release), or have a customized session to relieve stress, set up a clarity call with me. Schedule it through the link in my bio.
What specific actions do you do to fill up your own cup?? And if you don't know what REALLY nourishes you, you aren't alone! Most people don't know what lights them up and makes them feel balanced. So, I invite you to get curious. Become a researcher and try out a few things and see how it feels. Many times we want someone to tell us what you need to do instead of taking the time to experiment or listening to the little voice inside of you that is calling to you.
If you need any help with slowing down and finding more balance in your life, please contact me or set up a clarity call (link in bio) to see if my coaching services would be a good fit for you.

Just a reminder at the start of June that it is okay to give yourself a break! When you know yourself well enough to recognize that you need some tender, loving care AND you allow it to happen, you become deeply nourished and content. Self -care can mean different things at different life stages and it can be deeply personal. Some day self-care could look like declining an invitation to allow time to rest. Another day it may be going on a hike in nature. The trick is to recognize when you are depleted with your self-care.
