Hurricane Update.
Our office will be closed on Wednesday 8/30/23. We also will not service our school and daycare clients. Please be safe.

We were honored to receive recognition for the work we do with Orange County Headstart. This program is a blessing for so many of our youth.

Office Closing

Due to Hurricane Ian, Therapy Essentials will be closing early on Wednesday (12:30 PM) and closed on Thursday (September 29.)

We have called all patients to confirm appointments and to make schedule changes if necessary.

The spectrum is wide and diverse. We don’t treat the diagnosis, we treat the child.

Pragmatic language development is very important. Children can have a high vocabulary, produce long sentences, and know all their colors and shapes. If they don’t know how and when to use those skills then their ability to communicate effectively/efficiently is negatively affected.

Language development is enhanced when we give children choices and do much more than request for kids to “do” or “say something.”

Read, read, read. If your child does not have the tolerance to sit for a whole book then choose a small (3-4 page) book to read. You can also use a longer book and just say a line or 2 about each page instead of reading every word until their tolerance increases.

Words present differently. Communication is the goal.
