It’s the smallest things that show you care. Sometimes being a firefighter doesn’t mean rushing to car accidents, saving lives, or running into burning buildings. Sometimes it just means caring for other people in the simplest of ways. Firefighters out collecting for the are there for the kids with muscular dystrophy, but they are also always there to lend a helping hand… even if it simply means holding an umbrella. ☔️ ❤️🚒

Yesterday, I was elected as District Vice President for the 5th District of the IAFF! I am honored, proud, and grateful for the support I received over the last 8 months. Thank you to DVP Emeritus Tom Thornberg for his leadership and mentorship over the last 12 years! This district would not be where we are without him. Thank you to Jerry Biggart for a spirited campaign and for your kind words on the Convention floor to the body.

I formally take office in October, and we will hit the ground running to keep our District united, rising, and thriving!

🚒 HEARTFELT GRATITUDE FROM A GRATEFUL CITIZEN 🚑

Last week, we were honored to receive a visit from a courageous survivor who wanted to personally thank our incredible crew for saving his life after a devastating vehicle accident in April 2024.

His vehicle collided with a large cement power pole, deploying the airbags and causing severe damage. He sustained serious injuries and was trapped inside the wreckage. Thanks to our fire crew's swift and skilled response, he was safely extricated from the passenger side and handed over to our rescue team for further stabilization. He was then airlifted as a trauma alert to a local trauma hospital.

We’re also glad to report that his loyal canine companion, who was in the vehicle during the crash, was safely removed and kept secure throughout the ordeal.

As you can see from the photo, he’s recovering well and is in good spirits. This visit reminds us why we do what we do. Thank you for your kind words and for taking the time to stop by. We’re proud to have been there for you in your time of need. 💪🐾

Look at that! For the first time in HFD history, an active fire chief is at the International Association of Fire Fighters convention with HPFFA leadership. Chief Munoz is showing with his actions and words that he's a new kind of leader for HFD. Offer a thank you for the partnership and open communication the next time you see him.

As a Telecommunicator, you’ll play a vital role in our community by answering emergency and non-emergency calls for Hillsborough County Fire Rescue. You’ll be the first point of contact, gathering crucial information and coordinating rapid, efficient responses to fire and emergency medical situations.

This critical work is performed in our state-of-the-art public safety communications center. While previous dispatch experience is not required, candidates must pass a basic skills examination assessing fundamental dispatch abilities. Applicants must also have a high school diploma or GED and a valid Driver’s License.

PROMOTION ANNOUNCEMENT 🚨| Please join us in congratulating Brittany Kelly on her promotion to the rank of Engineer.

Engineer Kelly was born and raised in Central Florida, where her passion for public safety runs deep. She continues a proud family tradition of service, with her father serving as the Chief of Ocoee Fire Department. Her grandfather was a police officer, and her great-grandfather was a firefighter.

Brittany began her career in the EMS field, becoming an EMT in 2015 and a paramedic in 2016, earning both certifications from Valencia College. Her first role as a paramedic was with Universal Studios Health Services and she later joined the fire service in July 2017.

In November 2020, Brittany joined Winter Park Fire Department, where she has primarily served on Rescue 61 A-shift. Her commitment and skill were quickly recognized, leading her to become a preceptor and assist with the Department's hiring process.

Her positive attitude and dedication have been key to her success. Brittany's career continues to reflect her strong work ethic and dedication to public safety.
