Cadet Alyssa Sanchez, a senior at UCF and platoon leader assigned to B Company, UCF , has been selected as the General George C. Marshal Award recipient for the 2021-2022 school year.
A Criminal Justice major from Miami, FL, CDT Sanchez’s great-grandfather served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars, respectively. CDT Sanchez has separated herself from her peers on multiple occasions. Upon commissioning as a Second Lieutenant this coming May, CDT Sanchez will serve as an Armor officer on active duty. CDT Sanchez’s immediate goals following completion of her Armor training are to graduate from U.S. Army Ranger School and successfully lead an Armor platoon.
The George C. Marshal Award, named after the former Army Chief of Staff, Secretary of State, and Secretary of Defense, is awarded every year to the Cadet who most epitomizes the career of the late four-star General. CDT Sanchez’s academics, fitness, and leadership acumen made her the clear choice to be this year’s GCM Award recipient.

Cadets from the UCF Army ROTC program recently traveled to the Home of the Infantry, Fort Benning, GA, for their semi-annual Field Training Exercise (FTX). UCF Cadets were hosted by members of the United States Army’s elite Special Operations light-infantry raid force, the 75th Ranger Regiment.
Upon arrival to FBGA, Cadets participated in a meet-and-greet with NCOs and Officers from 3rd Ranger Battalion, the Ranger Special Troops Battalion (RSTB), the Regimental Military Intelligence Battalion (RMIB), and Regimental HQ (RHQ). Cadets were afforded a rare opportunity to interact with Army Rangers across a wide range of branches; to include, but not limited to Infantry, Signal, and the recently established Cyber branch.
