Don’t miss out on becoming the HR ninja your company needs!
Definitely not Starbucks….
Turn on the news at any time and you'll hear about another company conducting layoffs.
It's happening more often.
It's disruptive.
It's gut-wrenching.
It just sucks.
Still the questions remains: IS there a foolproof way to safeguard yourself from a layoff?
Simple answer: No, there's no foolproof way; The risk will always be there.
However, Ricky Baez says although you can't protect yourself 100% of the time, you can dramatically reduce your chances of being on the "list" by doing one thing:
Build a powerful personal brand that adds value to the business. In other words: "Become something they can't live without!"
In today's ever-changing job market, making your impression felt within an organization goes beyond just fulfilling your daily responsibilities. It's about creating a personal brand that adds undeniable value to the business.
Here’s how you can cultivate a brand that makes you indispensable:
-Be Proactive: Don’t wait for problems to find you—seek out challenges and provide solutions. Show initiative by identifying areas where you can contribute beyond your job description.
-Master Your Craft: Be the expert in your field. Continuously improve your skills and stay on top of industry trends. A well-informed employee is an invaluable asset.
-Demonstrate Flexibility: In times of change, adaptability is key. Show that you can pivot quickly and embrace new challenges, whether it’s taking on new tasks or mastering new technologies.
- Build Relationships: Your network within the organization is just as important as your work. Foster strong relationships with colleagues and leadership alike. People who feel connected to you are more likely to advocate for your place on the team (Ricky Baez will argue this one should be the first one!)
-Showcase Your Wins: Don’t be afraid to highlight your successes! Share your achievements and how they’ve moved the needle towards business goals. It reminds leadership of the value you bring to the table.
Remember, layoffs are often beyond your control, but building a strong personal brand that aligns with your company’s goals can significantly impact how you’re viewed when tough decisions are made.
Be proactive.
Be irreplaceable.
Be the person your organization can't imagine losing.

Last night was LIT🔥🔥🔥
Had an awesome time yesterday speaking at the Women in Roofing Networking event!
This is happening today!
You know your greatest assets are your employees right?
Right?
Of course you knew that!
You also know that by prioritizing their growth, well-being, and engagement, you're not only fostering a positive workplace culture but also driving your business forward.
You know all of this.
You also know that investing in your employees matters:
-Enhanced Productivity: Engaged employees are more motivated and perform better.
-Reduced Turnover: When employees feel valued, they're more likely to stay.
-Innovation and Growth: Investing in training and development sparks creativity and new ideas.
-Strong Employer Brand: A reputation for valuing employees attracts top talent.
Like I always say:
"If you take care of what's important to your employees, the "right" employees will take care of what's important to you."
Invest in your people. It's the only way to turn your workplace into a productivity powerhouse!
But you knew that already 😉
😂
Who really IS ready anyway?
Checked up on one of my employees today. He seems to have some kind of a breathing problem so he’s about to go on FMLA.
Sneak peek into a recruiting meeting:

Employers spend millions of dollars a year advertising open positions, countless payroll hours sourcing and interviewing candidates, only for the ball to be dropped during training.
It's a waste of time and money.
It doesn't have to be.
Ricky Baez explains 😁
Andrew Carnegie is 100% spot on: In order for an employee to move up in any organization, they have to be willing to put in the work.
As a leader, you need to ensure your employees have the tools they need to perform that work successfully. But how to you define "success?"
Everyone defines success differently. Your employee's definition of success could be a promotion, whereas your definition could be hitting the sales goals by the end of the quarter. The key to achieving both definitions is to align your employee's goals to the business. The best way to align strategies is to invest in meaningful "one-on-ones."
What's that? You're already having one-on-ones with your employees? Good! But are they meaningful? Are they impactful?
Here is a good playbook for your one-on-one meetings that go above and beyond the "How you doing?" conversation.
When meeting with your employees focus on the following:
-Be Authentic in Personalized Feedback: Tailored advice helps employees understand their strengths and areas for improvement, making their trip up the career ladder faster and more efficient.
-Understanding Aspirations: These meetings provide insights into the personal aspirations of employees, aligning their goals with the organization's objectives. Remember - Don't push an employee into a different position just because have the skillset to perform. They have to "want" to be in that position for them to succeed. Don't push, guide. Huge difference 😀
-Building Trust and Loyalty: Regular, authentic interactions foster a sense of loyalty and trust, which are foundational for mutual respect and collaboration.
Remember folks: Leadership is about influence, not authority. It's about guiding employees to see the heights they can reach and empowering them to take the steps necessary to succeed.
You want your employees to succeed?
Don't 👏 skip👏one👏on👏ones👏!
Last week Ricky Baez was the keynote speaker at the Palm Beach County SHRM 2024 Annual Conference! He spoke about the importance of Empathy and Compassion being the foundation of any thriving workforce.
In today’s fast-paced and turbulent times (now more than ever) business leaders need to set the example. Their roles transcends beyond just managing teams. They need to lead the charge to ensure employees have a safe and "fulfilling experience" at work.
Business leaders need to be the architects of workplace culture and employee well-being. Compassion in leadership not only fosters an inclusive and supportive atmosphere but also boosts productivity and loyalty among employees. When leaders show genuine care and concern, it empowers employees to perform their best, knowing they are valued beyond their output. You want to reduce turnover? This is where you start to make an impact!
You don't need a week's worth of classes or webinars to get things going.
Start small.
Start with:
-Listen Actively: Show genuine interest in the issues and concerns of your team.
-Be Empathetic: Understand and share the feelings of another to create stronger relational bonds.
-Act Thoughtfully: Make decisions that consider the well-being of employees, not just the bottom line.
Leaders who make the "human connection" a priority are seen as mentors and team advocates; not just "bosses."
You don't have to be perfect at it, you just have to start.
is out there spreading joy:)
Four years ago thousands of High School graduates were getting their minds ready for college in the Fall. The thing is, this wasn't any "ordinary Fall" as they were the first people to start college during a pandemic.
Most of those students graduated last month and are embarking in their chosen career path. Lets give them some kind of "normalcy." What piece of advice can you share with them that was impactful to you when you were first starting out in your career?

Yes recruiters - we hear you!
Although this scenario plays out nationwide, you can drastically reduce its impact by clearly communicating the recruiting process from beginning to end, including the financial impact every step along the way.
Don't have the budget to pay for top talent?
Articulate the time investment required to bring someone in at a lower skill set and train them up. Translate that "time" into dollars (Production loss due to training, salaires involved in training, etc) and compare that number to the number needed to bring in top talent.
Once you "translate" an HR issue to dollars and cents it makes it easier for stakeholders to support your initiative:)
