Happy Monday!✨ In honor of Ramadan traditions we are hosting a potluck event on Monday, April 11th at UCF Global for UCF students exclusively! You’ll get to share a space, share a meal, and share a company! It’s going to start at 7:50pm, the time for Iftar, also known as futoor, that is the evening meal with which Muslims end their daily Ramadan fast at sunset. They break their fast at the time of the call to prayer for the evening prayer.

We encourage you to bring some food that represents your culture or represents something you love. 🥧🍜🥟We will have Ramadan music and you’ll get to socialize with people from a lot of countries and learn more about Ramadan and Islam. ☪️

And we’ll have some goodie bags!

Join us for the Kuwait National and Liberation Day celebration! The Liberation day marks the day when Kuwait was freed from Iraqi occupation in 1991 and is solemnized officially on February 25. The National day is honored on February 26! But we will celebrate the National and Liberation day a little earlier - February 23! We will have music, pizza, and cupcakes! And would love to see you all there!

Happy Monday, Knights! Valentine’s Day is approaching quickly and we would love you to join us for our themed movie night! 💝🍿🎬

We will need your help in choosing the movie though! Soon we will be posting the options in our stories and you will be able to vote for the one you would like to see!

“Hi! My name is Irina. I’m an international student from Russia majoring in Hospitality Management with the track in Lodging Operations. Currently I serve as a social media coordinator for the International Student Association.”

✨What are your hobbies? “I love playing basketball and swimming. And I’m passionate about travelling, especially love spontaneous trips with me friends! Even for my internships I choose to work out of state, so I can combine learning with traveling. And I’m also learning Spanish!”

💥Fun fact about yourself? “I used to be a big coffee lover. After having a cup or three of ☕️everyday, I got so tired of it that I just stopped drinking it. But surprisingly, I still do love the aroma of coffee, so sometimes I just brew it to have it on my table and enjoy the scent.”

🎓Plans after graduation? “After graduation I’m planning to work in a hotel in Orlando for 2-3 years and then move to a northern state like NY, and continue advancing my career in the hospitality industry.”

🤔Why ISA? “I think most of the ISA officers chose to apply for an executive board member for the same reason: to help create a great time for other international students (and locals as well) and connect with them because we are international students ourselves, and we totally understand how difficult it can be to adjust to a new culture and education system. Besides being of service for other students, I wanted to gain a leadership experience working as an executive board member for ISA.”

“My name is Phuoc Thai. I am a Psychology major from Vietnam. I am one of the social media coordinators in ISA.”

✨What’s your hobby? “I love music and arts. In my leisure time, I like to play my guitar and come up with some musical verses or create artwork. My goal in the future is to use my artistic skills to help people.”

💥Fun fact about yourself? “My favorite singer is Taylor Swift.”

🎓Plans after graduation? “After graduation I’m looking to have some clinical experience while applying to graduate school in clinical psychology.”

🤔Why ISA? “I joined the ISA executive board because I have always appreciated this organization for having so many opportunities for international students like me to connect with other students and make friends which partly eases the adjustment process in the US. I became an officer hoping to see the same impact I can make for them.”

✨What’s your hobby? “Spend free time watching basketball, movies, Seinfeld, and working out.”

💥Fun fact about yourself? “Played every Animal Crossing game since the first release.”

🎓Plans after graduation? “Get my masters in Kinesiology and become an instructor at a university/college.”

🤔Why ISA? “Wanted to work together with other international students to help bring cultural awareness to everyone at UCF, along with bringing international students together to create a great experience at UCF.”

✨What are your hobbies? “In my free time I love to play sports, especially tennis, and play outside or go for hikes with my dog. I also enjoy traveling and technology, which is why I chose my program.”

💥Fun fact about yourself? “A fun fact about me is that all my best friends are from different countries!”

🎓Plans after graduation? “After graduating I would love to work at an airport and also help improve the public transportation system in Costa Rica.”

🤔Why ISA? “I joined the ISA E-board because as an undergrad I got to experience what it feels like to live in a new country and start making new friends, so I want to help students at UCF have a similar experience as mine and make friends from all over the world.”

“Hi! My name is Karoline, I am an international student from Brazil studying Event Management at the UCF Rosen College of Hospitality Management. I am currently the president of ISA!

✨What are your hobbies? “Some of my hobbies are to travel and learn new languages! I love to travel to different countries and learn the cultures we have around the world, so one of my goals in the future is to get a job where I could travel while working.”

💥Fun fact about yourself? “A fun fact about myself would be that I speak 3 languages. I already speak Portuguese, English and Spanish, but my goal is to be fluent in a total of 5 languages, so I really want to learn Italian and French next!”

🎓Plans after graduation? “After graduation I hope to get a job and save some money to move to a different country, hopefully somewhere in Europe!”

🤔Why ISA? “I first joined the ISA executive board as an Event Coordinator, and for this semester I have become the President. What made me join was the opportunity that it would give me to connect with other international students and share our experiences here in the US.”

The ISA Mentorship Program is back for the Fall 2021! On our inaugural cohort consisted of students from over 20 countries represented and we are looking to grow that even more! 🤩

Our mentees really benefitted from having their peers support them in academic, professional and personal endeavors. Mentors were able to develop their leadership skills and give back to other international students.
