Join The Desire Foundation Inc. for a day of fun and excitement at the Parramore Kids Field Day! Bring your family and friends to enjoy a variety of games and complimentary food/refreshments.

This community event is open to all ages and geared towards kids of District 5. It will take place Saturday, July 27, 2024 from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. located at Interstruct, 814 W. Church Street, Orlando, FL 32805. There will be an 8 a.m. shuttle pick up.

Light Orlando is looking for 2,000 volunteers on August 24 to pack 1,000,000 meals to be distributed to charities that assist families in our community that struggle with food insecurity.

The tax โ€œholiday,โ€ which runs from July 1 to July 31, will allow shoppers to avoid paying sales taxes on a wide range of recreational items and activities throughout July. It was part of a tax package (HB 7073) that the Legislature passed in March and Gov. Ron DeSantis signed in May.

Congratulations to the graduates from the pre-apprenticeship Graduation. Commissioner and I were able to share a few encouraging words with the graduates. Thank you to for sponsoring this class.

This is a Construction Pre-Apprenticeship program put on in partnership with Parramore Kidz Zone, Mercy Drive Kidz Zone, and the City of Orlando Youth Employment. There were 19 amazing students who graduated and 8 of which are from PKZ and MDKZ.

We broke ground on the courtyard, part of the FORDify the Arts campaign. This will help ensure that the historic Rogers-Kiene Building on Magnolia Avenue in Downtown Orlando continues to be an important resource for our community.

Itโ€™s also a testament of the impact of the late Ford Kiene, a long-time supporter of Orlandoโ€™s arts scene who donated the building to the city prior to his passing a few years ago.

Last night, I joined the McFall Neighborhood Associationโ€™s meeting with the Orlando Police Department to encourage residents to join a Neighborhood Watch Group! This program empowers neighbors to get to know each other and provides training on reducing opportunities for crime to occur.
