🌀 Ormond Beach Storm Alert: Tracking Idalia 🌀

As Idalia makes its way towards Florida's west coast, we at the City of Ormond Beach are closely monitoring its path. Anticipated peak weather conditions for our area: Late Tuesday into Wednesday.

🔹 City Operating Hours:
City services remain operational on Tuesday. Updates on facility operations will be relayed after we track storm progress.
🔹 Sandbag Pickup:
Get prepared! Self-serve sand pile and fillable sandbags are set up at the Nova Community Center (440 N Nova Rd) with staff on site until sundown today and starting at 8am tomorrow morning until sundown.
Monday - Saturday: 9am - 9pm
Sunday: 1pm - 5:30pm
🔹 Shelter Information:
Starting 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 29, shelters will open at:
- Volusia County Fairgrounds, 3150 E. New York Ave., DeLand (general population & pets)
- Hester Building, Volusia County Fairgrounds (for those without permanent housing)
- Florida Department of Health, 1845 Holsonback Drive, Daytona Beach (special needs shelter)
🔹 Beach Closures:
Starting Tuesday afternoon, our beaches will close for vehicular traffic.
🔹 Waste Management:
Trash services will operate as usual tomorrow. For now, yard waste pickups remain unchanged. In case of storm-related vegetative debris, place it un-bagged and separate at the curb.
🔹 Voluntary Evacuation Notice:
A voluntary evacuation recommendation kicks in at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 29. Those in RVs, mobile homes, or flood-prone zones should consider relocating to safer areas. Public shelters stand as a final option.

⚠️ Special Note for Beachfront Residents:
If you experienced significant coastal erosion during Hurricane Ian or Nicole and haven't taken protective actions, it's strongly recommended you find a safe shelter.

Our office was spared from damage and will open as usual on Monday, October 3rd. We will be reaching out to reschedule any appointments that were cancelled due to the storm and power loss.

As the path has changed and the hurricane will persist in Daytona through Friday, all appointments on Friday, September 30th will also be telehealth. Stay safe!
