We’ve been busy! Just a quick stop by to share, to help….

Yesterday we had a new business client who lost out on a large deduction because they do their own accounting during the year. There’s no going back after December 31.
Right along with this we had an individual taxpayer who came up with owing hundred's by doing his own return online... We prepared it as a check, he actually has thousand's in refunds.
Both of these occurrences happen far too frequently. Use an accountant, there is a reason we have a college degree and go tax school every year. 🤓📝📚💰

Line 37, your AGI.

It's the last line on the first page of your Form-1040, and it's the most important line on your tax return. If you are retired, it is even more important than for most other taxpayers.

Taxable income used to be the biggest line of importance but in recent years, Line 37 has come to play a major role in reducing your tax burden.

When AGI reaches a specific level, tax benefits are reduced, and additional taxes and surtaxes are imposed.

AGI can be manipulated in a number of ways, and different methods can produce different results for different situations. It's important to know how to work this critical line to achieve the most optimal outcome.

The IRS sent out letters to you beginning January 19th, 2022, these letters detail important information for your tax calculations.

The two letters sent out were:

1. Letter 6475: This details your Stimulus Payments throughout 2021.

2. Letter 6419: You will only have received this letter if you have children that you claim on your taxes. This details the total amount of advance Child Tax Credit payments that were paid to you throughout 2021.

Hopefully you hung on to those letters or have already filed your return with them, because if you file your taxes without the letter(s), your tax refund may possibly go under a manual review. In this event, your refund will be delayed. So, please make sure to file with the letter(s)!

New Tax Laws Explained:

Employee Retention Credit!

If your company lost revenue because of COVID-19, you could get up to $26,000 per employee back from the U.S. government.

If your business closed down or lost more than 20% of revenue due to COVID-19, and you kept your employees on payroll you may be eligible!

The credit is equal to 50% of the qualified wages you paid to employees after March 12th, 2020, to December 31st, 2020, and 70% of qualified wages for your 2021 payroll.

If you incorporated after February 15th, 2020, you may be eligible for up to $50,000 in payroll credits per quarter in Q3/Q4.

You can still apply even if you took out a PPP loan subject to additional wages and keeping employees on payroll. Other stipulations apply.

Stephanie is our Head Accountant, Business Consultant, Income Tax Preparer & Consultant, Income Tax Planner. She has been an essential part of our company for the last 19 years! When did you decide that you wanted to be an accountant, and why?
-> "From little on I knew I wanted to work in the world of problem solving and reconciliation! A check register was one of my favorite things to play with as a 6 year old! My first accounting class was my sophomore year in high school. I knew from that moment forward this profession was for me. I enjoy numbers, I enjoy the black & white, and my brain naturally is very talented in this area. I will say I always knew I could not be stuck in a cubicle or stuck only doing one piece of the accounting puzzle. I knew I needed to work with small businesses who are passionate about what they do and I needed the variety of the entire accounting profession."

Accountants get a serious rep for being boring, robotic people, is that true?
-> "Absolutely not! For the last two decades I've been raving about how we are not your typical accountants! We are full of wisdom and all the knowledge our clients need but we are also Vibrant, Caring, Fun! I take pride in what we have built. We offer a vibrant, caring and fun yet grounded, sound and stable foundation for our clients. We laugh, we deeply problem solve, we sit with our clients through emotion, through tears, through successes and fears. We are ready to serve through it all! We strive to bring balance, vibrancy, and joy to every client encounter.

What do you like most about being an Accountant?
-> "I absolutely love working with business owners who are sharing their passion! To assist others in reaching success and having continued success in their area of passion and expertise it truly an honor. I enjoy guiding, serving and partnering with my clients to create success. I also love the season of working with individual tax clients. So much connection, so many life stories, all beautiful and deserving of my full attention."

What's next for Darabosh Tax & Accounting? Any big plans?
