Just a heads up! More construction is coming

**UPDATE** To help enhance and encourage new businesses in the downtown area, the Village recently purchased the properties at 6 and 12 W. Van Buren. Since the properties are zoned commercial, the Village will be pursuing options for commercial development including restaurant, retail, office and other similar uses consistent with development in downtown Oswego. The properties were zoned for commercial use more than 29 years ago, with the last known record from 1974.

The Village will demolish the Village-owned houses at 6 and 12 W. Van Buren St. next week. The work will take place from Monday, Oct. 30 through Friday, Nov. 3.

The sidewalk on the west side of Madison St., the sidewalk and parking spaces in front of 6 and 12 Van Buren, and the alley west of the houses will be closed. The new parking spaces on the north side of Van Buren will also be inaccessible during the demolition work.

On Friday, July 14, the Village’s contractor will replace the traffic signal controller at the intersection of Route 31 and 34 by Village Hall. Work will start at 9 a.m. and is scheduled to be completed by 2 p.m. During this timeframe, the traffic signal will be taken out of service and the intersection will be controlled by stop signs.

On Monday, July 17, weather permitting, the Village’s contractor will install new traffic signal heads to the poles at Washington and Harrison streets. Eastbound Washington will be reduced to one lane from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

There may be traffic delays due to this scheduled work. Please use caution in this area whether you are driving, biking or walking.

Most supplies that I use on a regular basis have doubled, if not tripled in price within the last year. As of February 1st, you will notice a slight price increase. Why do these happy people have chicken wings on their heads? We’re celebrating the arrival of Anchor Bar, home of the original Buffalo chicken wing, at the former Famous Dave’s location! This new dining spot with roots in Buffalo, NY will offer an extensive menu, full bar, family-friendly dining area and outdoor patio seating. Did we mention there will be more than 40 TVs? We’re looking forward to trying all of Anchor Bar’s original signature wings and sauces, not to mention pizza, burgers and their specialty Beef on Weck sandwiches. Dairy Barn to open on Oswego’s Main Street next week Dairy Barn, Oswego's newest ice cream shop and restaurant, will open its doors Tuesday, March 8 on Main Street in the village's downtown.
