The LaSalle County Health Department, Healthier LaSalle County, and OSF HealthCare are requesting help from the local community to determine and prioritize health needs. As schools return to session, remember to stop for school buses. When a school bus is traveling on a two-lane roadway and is stopped to pick up or drop off students, the vehicles in all lanes of traffic must stop. Vehicles should stop at least 20 feet before reaching the school bus to allow students to cross the roadway safely.

This week we're celebrating and thanking our teachers for their hard work and dedication to education!

The Streator Family YMCA unveiled new equipment Saturday designed to engage youth in interactive health and fitness activities. The equipment was funded in part by a grant the ROE #35 received from the Illinois State Board of Education. We're glad to see the funds are going to benefit so many kids in the Streator area!

Public Schools Week is an annual celebration uniting schools, families, communities, and all of us to strengthen collaborations and highlight strategies for ongoing improvement. In today’s fast-paced world, public schools are enhancing both their academic and extracurricular offerings, catering to the diverse and evolving needs of students, and integrating technology and innovations to elevate the learning process.

The School Resource Officer is unique within the law enforcement profession. These officers fill a three-part role, serving as informal mentors or counselors, law educators and law enforcement officers to support the students and communities they serve.

Thank you to Ransom Grade School students for the bracelets that were delivered to our office in memory of Jacob Faltin-Medina. Ransom Grade School, LEASE, Tonica Grade School, and Lostant Grade School are celebrating Mental Health Week in Jacob's memory. Jacob was a school pyschologist who served these schools.
