Tis the season! Few things are better than crawling under some blankets and onto a heated massage table, especially this time of year. You can purchase your gift cards in minutes from your phone, wherever you’re at! Link in bio ❄️⭐️🎁

Cupping therapy can be used in many ways to achieve different therapeutic goals. My intent is always focused on freeing fascial restrictions in the body that may be preventing proper movement. More often than not, people are living in pain but have become so comfortable with being in pain that it doesn’t even register that being pain free is an actual option. Through physical therapy, massage therapy and chiropractic care, we can help you achieve a natural and pain free lifestyle again.

I’m excited and grateful that my clients have nominated me for “Best Massage Therapist” in KC Magazine this year. Just being nominated is an amazing feeling, but let’s bring home a win this time! 🙏🏽❤️ link in bio 🗳

Hydration. Why is it important and tips to make it more exciting? - Written by Terry Solis, LMT, Dr. Patrick Chandler, DPT November 20, 2020

I’m Terry Solis, owner of Tri Health and Massage and I am happy to announce that I will be working with my friend and colleague, Dr. Patrick Chandler who practices physical therapy here in Overland Park, KS.

We are excited to announce that we are melding our minds to bring our clients/ patients relatable and valuable health and wellness content to help you address acute/ chronic pain and how to alleviate it yourself or between therapeutic sessions with us. Our goal is simple, to reach people in a greater capacity than we already are. Neither massage therapy nor physical therapy are the cure all, we seek to collaborate and help each other grow as professionals and provide you useful content at the same time. This is the first of many Friday posts from us, so keep an eye out!

P.S. all constructive feedback is welcome and appreciated.

Sometimes we wait until the last minute, and that’s ok because you can always get your loved one (or yourself) an electronic gift card in seconds. Do the right thing, give the gift of massage ❤️

Everyone loves a good ol latté pic, especially on snowy days like today. As most of us are aware, coffee can help keep our bodies regular, which is very important not only for digestive purposes (the physical), but also for our mental and emotional health. A happy guy = a happy mind, body and soul 🧘🏽‍♂️

My passion moves beyond the treatment room. Movement is fundamental, so if you’re gonna do it, you better be doing it right. Don’t let your ego restrict you, stop and break it down, then string it all together once you’ve drilled in the correct movement patterns.

Timeline photos 02/08/2020

As a massage therapist, I don’t not heal people, but rather I help to facilitate the bodies natural healing process through therapeutic touch. I used my education, experience and different tools to help provide the best possible outcome for my clients, myself and my business. Never stop pushing to be better, to feel better, and to live better ❤️

Habitual unilateral movement patters can cause just as much harm as random accident injuries. We have to remember that generally, our body is always looking for a way to balance us out, and sometimes that “balance” is bad posture all to keep us upright instead of on the floor. If you’re used to doing something on one side of your body, try doing it on the other side for a week like brushing your teeth so you can realize how much these little movements actually affect us.

An athlete is described as someone who works out a minimum of 3 days a week with a minimum duration of one hour per time, which means more of you are athletes than you’d think 🤗 this also means that on top of working full time jobs and for many, running a house hold with little one bouncing off the walls, you’re putting your bodies through a lot of physical, mental and emotional stress. That’s where I come in, don’t forget to put yourself first, even if only for an hour, I’ll help bring balance to your chaos ❤️

Exciting new changes are coming to help provide the best services possible all of my amazing clients! Starting now, for every new client you send in, they will receive $10 off their first visit and after their appointment, a $10 credit will also go onto your account! All they have to do is mention your name. Don’t hesitate, send in all your friends and family and save!

Happy Monday! This is a message to all my clients and future clients. I am excited to announce that after 3 years of doing what I love, I am finally giving myself a raise! All of my current prices will be increasing by just $5, which might not seem like a lot right now, but it is ultimately going to help me be able to invest more money back into my business and right back to my clients! For clarification, my prices are now $85 for an hour and $115 for a 90 minute massage. There are certain persons who receive a special discount if you're apart of Kansas Athletic Club or if you followed me from one of my other spa's, in which case you will still get your discount, but the price will still increase by $5. The price increase for all current clients will not go into effect until the first of the year, however, for all new clients and any clients who haven't been in within the last 6 months, the price increase is already active. With this I will soon be adding new services, more aroma therapy options, hot towel treatments and so on. With my business, one of my big time goals is to open a brick and mortar of my own and while I work to help make peoples lives better, you all are also helping me to extend that reach as far as I can and I am forever thankful. More info to come shortly, but if anyone has any questions, comments or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out! I love you all!

There are times where I question the efficacy of the work that I do. “Is this really helping them?” “Do they really feel better when they leave?” “Am I good enough to really help those who’re in pain?” I don’t believe these are bad questions, I honestly believe they help keep us practitioners humble. That being said, every so often, I get a client that really benefits for the work that I do, and it validates everything. I’m honored to be able to help people wether it be a little or a lot.

Whether I’m competing or supporting, I’m always working to try and make others feel and move better. And yes, we were wearing matching tanks, why else do a partner completion? 😁🥰

When someone steps into my room, they enter a space of love and acceptance. I seek to provide a safe space for everyone who enters because while massage is mostly a physical experience, it is also affecting a persons mental and emotion state of being. Once you allow yourself to be in a space purely surrounded by love, then you can truly start to release some of your mental and emotional blockages.

Not all of our pictures can be award winning, especially when we wait to do our mobility until the owls come out to play 🤷🏽‍♀️ anyways, here’s a great quad stretch to do next time you’re chilling at home next to your dog kennel. I call this one the “death drop stretch” after the amazing queens who made the death drop an iconic drag queen move. As always, be sure to foam roll slowly and with intention before you stretch to get the most benefit out of your daily mobility! 🤸🏽‍♂️💃🏻

Tired of stretching alone, but don’t know any other way? Grab a partner and try this out!

First, slowly foam roll your hamstrings, scanning for any tender spots and resting on them to help them release, then:

PNF Stretching:
-Hamstrings-
(Partner 1) lie flat on the floor and point your toes toward the ceiling. With your leg completely extended, bring one leg up as far as it can go, feeling for a stretch through the hamstring. (Partner 2) meet the athletes leg at its end range of motion and create a sturdy resistance and assist in keeping the leg straight. (P1) pushing against P2's resistance, with a minimal amount of strength, attempt to drive your heel back down to the floor (the intention is simply to engage the hamstrings, not knock over your partner). Engage for 6 seconds, then relax and bring your leg closer to your body. Repeat 2 more times on the same side, then switch legs.

Happy Friday!!! 🤸🏽‍♂️🤸🏽‍♂️🤸🏽‍♂️ @ CrossFit 913

Impossible knots between the shoulder blades? Of course, getting a massage will do wonders, but here’s some at home work you can do between appointments! Get your lacrosse ball, place it between your shoulder blade and spine and lie on the floor or press against a wall. Slowly move down the edge of your scapula while avoiding running over bone, searching for tender spots and resting on them to help them release. After about a minute of this work, stretch! Place one hand at a time behind your opposite knee to create an anchor, then round your upper back and push up towards the ceiling. Your should feel a great stretch between your shoulder blades! Hold this stretch for 1-2 minutes each side! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 @ CrossFit 913

Teres Major can often be overlooked because it does the same job as it’s BIG brother, Latissimus Dorsi. Mobility is very important in this region because tightness and trigger points can restrict movement and cause anterior shoulder pain that will ruin your day. Find a lacrosse ball, lay on your side with your arm extended, place the ball on the backside of your armpit where the muscle tissue is and let it sink into the tissue until it releases. Lastly, get a good stretch by getting into child’s pose and walking your hands out to either side! 2-3 minutes on each stretch and you’re good to go!

Time to hit you with some late night mobility tips. Mid-traps can cause a lot of issues such as headaches, neck and shoulder pain, and even pain associated with your eyes 👀 but outside of seeing a professional, there are still things you can do! First, get a lacrosse ball, place it between you and a wall, then use your thumb to apply counter pressure and find hidden trigger points! Super easy and really effective! As always, make sure you stretch after each self soft tissue mobilization to get the greatest benefit!

Flexibility Friday 🤸🏽‍♂️ let’s talk about assistance tools! These here are yoga wheels, they can be used in a multitude of ways to help you make your yoga/ stretching experience easier or harder. Yoga blocks, bands and even PVC pipes can also be used to help you get into a better position that your body wants to keep you out of. There is nothing wrong or embarrassing about having to use assistance tools, they were developed to help you PROGRESS through a movement until you can do them without. Love your body go where it is at today!

Something that I’ve started saying to my clients, especially the ones that workout on a consistent basis; “if you’re willing to make the effort to workout regularly, then you should willing to take care of your body by doing mobility and stretching.” People have the resolve to get up early and build strength, find the resolve to preserve that strength and work on mobility. Make time, not excuses.

Timeline photos 01/27/2019

Being aware of how your body moves or doesn’t move is crucial for self development. Sure, a professional can look at you and say, “your shoulders are protracted and your neck is slightly translated to the right, your hips are anteriorly rotated and hiked up on one side” but what does that mean to you if you can’t recognize and feel it for yourself? Use those who move well as a template and work on your limitations so that you can move properly to live a healthier life.

Mind, Body, and Soul

To me, massage therapy is one of the best ways to connect to other people that come from all walks of life. The consensus with all of my clients seems to be that they all have specific therapeutic needs, whether its a better sense of mind, body, soul or a combination of all three. Life affects everyone differently, physically, mentally and emotionally and I strive to bring a balance within all of my clients. My educational background is focused on the human body and how it works. I am a licensed massage therapist, corrective exercise specialist, certified kinesiology taping specialist, and a Crossfit Level 1 Trainer. Commonly, I help clients that have specific mechanical issues within their bodies, so listening and customizing the session to every individual is very important. That being said, my favorite type of massage is one where I've helped my client through their mechanical ailments, and we can connect in a deeper and more relaxing setting. The ultimate goal with everyone I see is to get them to a deep state of relaxation and sense of peace.
