We are committed to helping you reach optimal health by identifying the underlying causes of disease

This Sunday the 4th is World Cancer Day - an initiative started by The Union for International Cancer Control’s (UICC) in 2000. Their mission is ‘to create a future without cancer’. How do we do that in our opinion? For starters, we need to grab our functional medicine magnifying glass and identify the TRUE root causes of cancer and address those. What are they?

1️⃣ Mitochondria dysfunction
2️⃣ Diet
3️⃣ Toxins (incl. vaccines, PFAS, glyphosate, heavy metals)
4️⃣ Stress + Traumas (incl. chronic infections, metabolic stress, mental, emotional)

The sad thing is, it shouldn’t take a mag glass to see those things. They’re pretty obvious!

To prevent cancer, 4 things we need to do are: Support our mitochondria. Improve our diets. Reduce our toxic load. And address stress and past traumas.

Yet there isn’t as much focus on these as there should be. Especially the last two.

Diet is often mentioned with cancer prevention, but with Eli Priest, FNTP, RWP, a functional nutritionist on our team, we’re looking at it from a more holistic approach than most with a major emphasis on reducing our toxic load and inflammation. It does feel like the tides are changing though. More and more people are waking up to the current wellness reality and what it’s going to take to be healthy and maintain an optimal level of health.

If the governments and organizations controlling the world REALLY want to create a future without cancer then address these root causes. Just to name a few things: Ban or put more regulations on unhealthy foods and products to reduce our toxic load. Stop pushing ‘things’ that inject toxins into our bodies, creating dysfunction, which then creates disease. Make major changes to the healthcare and insurance machine.

Until ‘they’ start doing this, us as health practitioners have a big challenge in front of us - helping people prevent cancer from developing through a functional approach, and helping people restore their health if they have or had cancer. We accept that challenge!

You’re not going to find any cookie cutters in our drawers.

We recognize that every individual is completely unique. That’s why we take soooo much time in the beginning to learn everything about you and get an accurate and complete picture of your health. It’s why we do a lot more lab analysis than most practices. It’s why your follow-up appointments are more in-depth. Taking a personalized and custom approach to helping you achieve greater health is an important foundational component of our practice.

Reflecting on 2023, we want to applaud all the like-minded people & orgs committed to providing better forms of healthcare, nutrition, therapies, health and wellness focused products, supportive research, lab testing, etc… anybody providing and/or supporting an alternative to the current mainstream systems which contribute to continued disease and suffering.

We’re committed to setting a new standard for patient care. Having a growing and powerful group of individuals and organizations also committed to making a meaningful impact on people’s health and wellness provides us strength. It makes our commitment easier to see through.

What we’re all doing isn’t easy – taking on the mainstream healthcare & food system, other ‘medical professionals’, big pharma, the government, etc... can be very stressful. It can cost a lot. But we have to do this. We know you feel the same way. Keep at it! A shift IS HAPPENING.

It’s our hope that 2024 continues this shift on even greater levels.

Skip the flu sh@t!

➡ It causes immune dysfunction
➡ It heightens your toxic load
➡ It isn’t as effective as you may think (according to the CDC numbers)

Check out this older blog article of ours - in2greatkc.com/noflushot which goes into great detail on the 3 reasons above along with A LOT more info.

Also, if you want to learn more about how it causes immune dysfunction, check out this article: in2greatkc.com/immune

As an alternative, an immune boosting solution available in our practice we highly recommend during cold/flu season is a combination of:

➡ 4 Viral Immune IVs
➡ 4 Far Infrared Red Sauna sessions
➡ 4 FLOWpresso sessions
➡ 4 Red Light Therapy sessions

Eli has UPPED her skills and knowledge again! Early this month, she passed the Clinical Mastery 12-week Restorative Wellness Solutions course. So she’s now a Master Restorative Wellness Practitioner! Over the past 2 years, she has completed 4 Restorative Wellness Courses designed to help her more effectively identify her patients’ root cause of illness and develop effective protocols to restore their health.

1️⃣ GI Healing
2️⃣ Optimizing Hormones
3️⃣ Blood Chemistry
4️⃣ Clinical Mastery

The focus of the Clinical Mastery course was:

➡ Identifying and managing genetic polymorphisms
➡ Applying deep detoxification methodology, including identifying hidden pathogens, heavy metals and mold, and how to eliminate them
➡ Successfully managing the Autoimmune Phenomenon: Driving factors, assessment, nutritional management, and beyond
➡ Supporting the Optimal Brain: Development, function, aging, trauma, and imbalances

We'll dig as deep as needed to determine your root cause. AND once we learn what that is together, we'll develop and support a personalized protocol to address it.

Happy Thanksgiving! Dark meat contains more vitamins and minerals than white meat. And when roasting the turkey, it’s often more juicy and flavorful than the breast. So why do most people reach for the white meat? Maybe that weird Aunt who was a little different who ate the dark meat (and sometimes the giblets) had it figured out. Be that weird Aunt, Uncle, or Cousin this Thanksgiving. Or have a little of both and get the nutrient benefits of each.

Yesterday we told everyone to bring some extra gratitude to Thanksgiving this year. So it’s our turn to say what we’re thankful for. And there’s a lot!

It’s been a great year so far. A year that wouldn’t be possible without our patients. We feel so much gratitude each and every day for those who continue to trust us to be a partner in their journey to greater health. We do this for you! So thank you, thank you, thank you!

We’re also thankful for the supportive local KC area community and for all the patients traveling to us from out-of-state; which increased this year.

Our minds are filled with gratitude for all the businesses and practices that share in our mission and vision of a new standard of healthcare for everyone. What we all do, going against mainstream medicine and the current healthcare system, isn’t easy. So a massive thank you goes to you.

And a final shoutout to those we’re in the trenches with - each individual that together makes us a complete and awesome care team. We are such a powerful unit. We’ve grown a lot this year. So we’re thankful for the present ‘us’, and the future ‘us’ that’s becoming a reality.

Being thankful 🙏 impacts our health in many ways - one being our hormones.

Gratitude helps reduce stress, anxiety, depression, and pain.
It helps us sleep better and impacts metabolism, immune function, aging, moods, and more.

Which in turn impacts our ability to prevent and recover from chronic illness.

So this Thanksgiving 🍗, when you’re sharing what you’re grateful for; don’t think of it as a ho hum Thanksgiving tradition; think of it as something critical to your overall health and wellbeing. Bring some extra gratitude to the dinner table this year!

Food is the foundation to living a healthy life. And healthy food can also be really yummy food. Thanksgiving is a food holiday, so our functional nutritionist, Eli Priest, wants to help you plan your food for the day.

Turkey: Roast your turkey (don’t deep fry it) in a chemical-free stainless steel or ceramic roasting pan. Stay away from non-stick pans b/c they’re loaded with PFAS (forever chemicals). Use ghee or grass-fed butter, not oil for basting.

Giblets/Neck: Don’t throw these away; use them for your turkey stock. Giblets are loaded with nutrients - such as coQ10, copper, selenium, taurine, vitamin A, vitamin B, iron, protein, and zinc.

Gravy: Make your own! Better yet, make it gluten-free. The store-bought cans/jars are not healthy options; plus that don’t taste nearly as good as homemade gravy. Many homemade recipes start with a rue that is flour based. Consider these GF flour options: AP gluten-free flour or white rice flour. You can use chickpea flour, tapioca starch, or millet flour instead.

Seasoning: This year try using some Pluck seasoning. We’d recommend their All Purpose blend. It includes Beef Organ Meat Blend along with organic herbs and spices. You can buy some from us by visiting our practice or on our site, shop.in2greatkc.com

Brussels Sprouts: Brussel sprouts too are loaded with nutrients, providing vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. They are high in sulfur and support phase II detoxification.

Cranberries: Buy organic and make your own cranberry relish instead of buying can/jar options. Replace the sugar in your relish recipe with maple syrup. Non-organic cranberries have high levels of pesticides. Cranberries contain potent phytonutrients, which are antioxidants that help prevent damage to our cells.

Pumpkin Pie/Ginger Dessert: Pumpkin is packed with nutrition and generally low on pesticides. Ginger helps with digestion.

Digestive Enzyme Supplement: These help break down food and ensure we’re absorbing as much nutrients as possible. You can buy some from us by visiting our practice.

And this year, think about trying something new. Eli’s making a squash risotto with Force of Nature Wild Boar Sausage. See the recipe in this post’s photos.

Personalized protocols for cancer patients are going to vary for each patient. Beyond the cancer we’re addressing, the optimal function of each system within the body is considered to ensure we’re strategically taking the best approach for the patient’s unique needs. But from a high-level view of what we do, a patient’s treatment will typically include these therapies:

➡ SOT (Supportive Oligonucleotide Therapy)
➡ Ozone/EBOO (which ozone will depend on various factors)
➡ Methylene Blue
➡ Red Light
➡ Targeted IVs with specific ingredients found in RGCC results that show a cytotoxic or immune modulating effects (i.e. minerals, nutrients, and more)

Along with a personalized supplement strategy

It’s Global Prebiotic Week, so how’s your gut health? It’s not the most fun topic to talk about (especially if something’s off with it), but our gut health plays a massive role in our overall health and wellbeing. It’s a foundational piece of our approach. At least 70% of immune cells are in our gut. So a healthy you, requires a healthy gut.

Prebiotics feed the good microbes in our gut. They are present in plant-based, fiber-rich foods such as:

➡️ Onions
➡️ Dandelion greens
➡️ Sunchokes
➡️ Garlic
➡️ Asparagus
➡️ Bananas
➡️ Organic barley
➡️ Organic oats

We don’t recommend eating wheat, beans, or lentils even though these are often considered prebiotic foods.

We should be getting all the prebiotics we need from eating the right foods. So our patient recommendations tied to gut health typically revolve around the food you’re eating. But there are cases where some supplementation is needed.

If you believe you’re eating well overall, especially foods rich in prebiotics but your gut is consistently not happy, then maybe something else is going on and it’s time for some lab work and functional analysis to get a full picture of what’s going on and a strategy to address it.

Dr. Priest and Eli recently visited Polyface Farm for 2 days of workshops and fun farm time. Sessions included topics about soil health & composting, raising beef and poultry, and more about regenerative farming. They also got to meet and hear from one of their idols, Joel Salatin! If you’re interested in learning more about regenerative farming, we encourage you to look him up! They said this 2 day workshop was an amazing experience - which is evident in this photo of them with Joel Salatin.

Check out Polyface Farms story here: https://polyfacefarms.com/about/ and do what you can to support regenerative farming and those who share in their mission to: ‘develop emotionally, economically, environmentally enhancing agricultural enterprises and facilitate their duplication throughout the world.’

Are we getting more calls about cancer? Yes. Are we helping more patients with cancer? Yes. Are other practices like ours helping more patients? Yes.

So what is going on? Are more people getting cancer?

That seems to be the case. Unfortunately, there aren’t any real nat’l numbers (not projections) published since 2020. And those numbers (plus future ones) are put out by gov’t or other entities we don’t trust to have our best interests in mind in the 1st place.

So… we’re left to make our own conclusions.

5 root causes:

1. Vx cause immune dysfunction

The first line of defense in the immune system should be the innate immune system (which includes barrier systems). The adaptive immune system should come into play several days after innate immunity is working. When someone gets a vx, the innate immune system and barrier systems are bypassed; triggering an adaptive response. By bypassing the first line of defense, the innate immune response, the immune system is imbalanced, causing significant immune dysfunction. The immune system isn’t able to properly handle the day-to-day insults coming at it. This leads to the immune system over responding to the wrong entities. Which can then allow cancers to grab hold or a smoldering grouping of cells to explode, and quickly become more than the already compromised immune system is able to handle.

2. Mitochondria dysfunction
3. More toxic exposure
4. Chronic infections not being addressed
5. Parasites

Read more about each of these in our latest blog article: https://in2greatkc.com/5-root-causes-behind-a-perceived-increase-in-cancer-cases/

Today is National Mammography Day, so we want to provide some alternative info from what you’re likely seeing/hearing today.

For our patients, we don’t recommend mammograms. Instead we recommend a very comprehensive RGCC blood test or thermography test. Plus an ultrasound can also be layered in.

Some stats:
➡ Mammograms have a 7-12% false-positive rate.
➡ The RGCC blood test has a 0.7% false-positive rate.
➡ After 10 yearly mammograms, the false-positive rate jumps to 50-60%. So if you start having mammograms at 40 years old (what is now being recommended by others), by age 50, you're very likely to be wrongly identified as having breast cancer.
➡ The radiation from a single 2-view digital mammogram is in your body for approx. 7 weeks.
➡ Thermography and the RGCC blood test are radiation free.
➡ Mammogram accuracy is stated as 78%-87%; with that dropping to as low as 30% for women with extremely dense breasts.
➡ The RGCC blood test has 87% accuracy.

We work with cancer patients. Not a lot of functional medicine practices do. Why (and how) do we?

1️⃣ We want to help - We see cancer cases growing and there are not enough alternative options for patients. We’re committed to making a meaningful impact on people’s lives. Cancer is the #2 cause of death in the US. Estimates put new US cases this year near 2M. So if we really do want to make an impact, we need to work with cancer patients.

2️⃣ We aren’t scared to take on the big and powerful US cancer/healthcare machine. And we’re confident enough in our knowledge and abilities.

3️⃣ Testing - We utilize a RGCC circulating tumor cells (CTC) test. The test provides a lot of data that can be overwhelming to those without the knowledge or familiarity to interpret it. Before starting to use this test, there was a lot of back-end leg work to make it happen.

4️⃣ Tools within the practice - Working with cancer patients requires in-practice access and experience with many different treatment modalities; which we have at our practice.

5️⃣ We’re eager to continue learning and growing as providers.

10/13/2023

One of our core values is to constantly be learning. It's something we're extremely committed to! Science and medicine are always evolving, so we must too always be evolving. If as a provider and practice you aren't evolving, then your ability to truly help patients diminishes.

Last month, Dr. Roethle and Eli were trained in Level 1 and 2 muscle testing during an intensive hands-on weekend workshop.

(We haven't yet mentioned this) In August, Dr. Priest completed a 21-hour next-level training related to successfully treating resistant Lyme disease and MSIDS. This adds to his already extensive knowledge and education on Lyme/MSIDS.
