Last night, we celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Lafayette County Law Enforcement Officers Association. We are thankful for all the association has done for our law enforcement agencies and the community. We continue to look forward to the future.

SCAM CALLS ASKING FOR MONEY
PLEASE remember that our office will NEVER call asking for any form of payment for any reason. Scammers are on the rise and very clever! They have spoofed our phone number, using our employee names and even put you call through to another person to make the call seem legit. Warn your neighbors and friends who don't have social media! If you have questions or get a call that you are unsure about, call our office at 662-234-6421.

We want to thank the State Youth Congress Convention as well as Second Baptist Church for having the Oxford MS Police Department and us this morning to talk to the youth about the dangers of drugs, the importance of staying out of the prison system, and letting us demonstrate how our K-9 units work.

Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department
The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department, led by Sheriff Joey East, is a law enforcement agency serving Lafayette County, Mississippi. Founded in 1836, the department is responsible for protecting Lafayette County residents, law enforcement, administration of the Lafayette County Jail and keeping the peace.
To ensure the safety of Lafayette County residents, Sheriff’s deputies patrol the county daily. The department also oversees a Special Response Team (S.R.T) and the Lafayette County Dive Team. The S.R.T. is a tactical team of experienced deputies trained to respond in high-risk situations. In 2015 the Sheriff’s Department founded the Lafayette County Dive Team. This team is made up of 11 deputies who are specially trained to perform search and rescue missions in large bodies of water. The Lafayette County Dive Team often assists surrounding counties as it is the only team like it in the area.
