Rotary at work Members of the Rotary Club of Pacifica put on their gardening gloves recently to give Grace McCarthy Overlook on Sharp Park Road a much-needed facelift by weeding, mulching and planting.

Today was “The Walk” and Rotary Club of Pacifica did 3 miles with thousands of others passionate about ending Alzheimers. So fun AND incredibly moving. The fabulous Reggie Aqui was our Emcee and Jennifer Jones joined him on stage. Even ran into Gary Chow! Thank you to ALL who contributed. It was a smashing success 💜

What a gift! Thank you to our District a governor, Laine Hendricks, for sharing her vision of the coming year in Rotary. Anne Campbell, Asst Governor, joined us as well. Governor Hendricks shared her passion for “Connecting” 🕊️ as a way to achieve peace.

Thank you, Councilmember Mary Bier and Cindy Abbott, for introducing us to the collaborative project “Art for a More Peaceful and Just Community”. This project includes a variety of art forms to address intolerance, hate, fear with the intention to foster inclusion, understanding and a peaceful approach to differences.

Many thanks to Rotary Club of Burlingame's members who joined us for breakfast this morning. Bob Doerr and Jerry Wingis presented us with their current Global Grant project to digitize the all girls' "Tribal School" in Vissannapeta, an impoverished town in East India.

Another fabulous speaker for Rotary Club of Pacifica! Thank you to our own member, John Nibbelin, who is San Mateo County’s Board of Supervisors’ County Attorney. In addition to representing the Board of Supervisors, John also represents the County Executive Officer and advises the Superior Court. FASCINATING talk - thank you John D. Nibbelin!

Our club was so honored to have Justin Lee present to us his efforts at Rise Against Against Hunger. This organization works with volunteers to package dry food that will last for two years to feed the hungry across the globe. They also provide emergency food relief and strive to elevate women and youth farm workers. Great Organization!

It was our pleasure to have Pete Shoemaker as our guest speaker. Pete spoke about Solar and Electric Vehicles. He informed us that this industry will evolve in the next couple of years to be much more affordable. Very informative information. Thanks Pete!

Our wonderful speaker Rich Jasso provided us with an update on the Pacifica Vietnam War Memorial that he and four others have been working on for the past two years. This memorial is specifically dedicated to those Pacificans that fought in the war and never made it home. Regardless if you agree with the war or not those Pacificans should never be forgotten. Thank you to the community members that donated time and money to make this happen. The revealing will be held this November 11th. Stay tuned for more information as the date approaches.
