This year’s East Valley Dance Project is off and running! Ninety-nine incredible students from Coachella Valley and Desert Mirage High Schools attended the audition and those selected will perform on the McCallum stage as part of Palm Desert Choreography Festival on November 10. Thank you to our Education Ambassadors who came out to serve on the audition panel and our Project partners Backhausdance, Desert Mirage and Coachella Valley High Schools.
The Festival - a dynamic live platform for dancemakers and dancers to showcase their work - is a powerful vehicle for McCallum to engage audiences and youth around dance in the Coachella Valley. Celebrating dance as an art form, this unique event delivers an exciting variety of new work created by inventive choreographers and performed by extraordinary dancers.

Benny Benack III, the Emmy-nominated trumpeter and charismatic crooner, has been busy recording his first-ever live album, which was captured during two sold-out nights at the iconic Blue Llama Jazz Club. Advanced copies of the album will be available on tour. He’s also performed at prestigious venues like Jazz at Lincoln Center in NYC, and international spots from Vegas to Oslo. In his downtime, Benny is eagerly awaiting the start of football season, cheering on his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers!
Stella Cole, the sensational vocalist and social media star, has had an incredible summer filled with travel and music. She recently performed at the Nice Jazz Festival, took time to swim in the Mediterranean, and enjoyed Lake Como! In even bigger news, Stella’s highly anticipated debut album just dropped on August 30th and is now available on all streaming platforms!
Jabu Graybeal, the phenomenal tap sensation, has been keeping busy as well, continuing to build his impressive career. He’s toured with Postmodern Jukebox and appeared in the Apple TV film Spirited with Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds.
