On Feb. 15, the Avenidas Chinese Community Center celebrated Lunar New Year – with lions and dragons, dancers and drummers!
Check out the lion dancers, performances, interactive booths, cultural exchange, and all the joy from the day! Special thanks to Local News for Chinese for their coverage of the event and City of Palo Alto - Public Agency Vice Mayor Ed Lauing and Council Member Lydia Kou for their support. A big shout out to our staff, Board members, ACCC volunteers, performers, and most of all, the 160 attendees of this magical culture experience who joined us, both in-person and online.

Thank you, KTSF Television for this beautifully-produced coverage that captured the essence of our bilingual program, highlighting the educational aspects, friendships, and the cultural significance of learning Cantonese.
We were especially touched by the inclusion of Mandarin speaking and non-Chinese speaking senior participants. This approach reflects the warm spirit of our program at ACCC, which is to foster understanding and appreciation for Cantonese and Chinese culture among everyone in our community.

Happy Moon Festival!

The Moon Festival, also known as the Mid-Autumn Festival, is a time-honored occasion celebrated by numerous Asian cultures, including Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, and Japanese communities. The festival typically falls on the fifteenth day of the eighth lunar month, when the moon is at its fullest and brightest. The 2023 Moon Festival falls on September 29, where participants can embrace the spirit of the circle -- circles of love, family, and gratitude as we are bathed by the brightness of the full moon.

中秋節快樂!

月亮節，也稱為中秋節，許多亞洲國家和地區包括中國、越南、韓國和日本在內等都有慶祝這個具有歷史悠久的節日。這個節日是在農曆的八月十五，此時月亮最亮最圓。今年的中秋節是9月29日，人們可以沐浴在滿月的光輝之中，月圓人亦圓，擁抱家庭團圓和感恩友愛。

Ten Warning Signs of Alzheimer’s: Early Detection Matters

Presented by: Alzheimer’s Association Community Educators: Andree Guo & Ingrid Lai

If you or someone you know is experiencing memory loss or behavioral changes, it’s time to learn the facts. Early detection of Alzheimer’s disease gives you a chance to begin medication therapy, enroll in clinical studies, and plan for the future. This interactive workshop features video clips of people with Alzheimer’s disease.

This seminar will be presented in English and Mandarin.
