Kudos to Elizabeth Kerr
๏ปฟ(Social Work Clinician, Outpatient Social Work)
"Elizabeth helped me explore the Stanford campus and Cancer Center. She has profound knowledge of cancer centers, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, patientsโ major psycho-social issues, and SW role and support. And she is resourceful and a great team builder too. Thank you, Elizabeth, for sharing your wisdom and making me more comfortable here at Stanford during this new hire orientation and training week. "

"The K7 Nursing team is exemplary. They are knowledgeable, efficient, and hardworking. They are willing to answer my questions, be an intermediary with the Doctors, and take the time to talk with/ counsel me. It is notable that the nurses always help each other. Different nurses, nurse assistants, charge nurses came into my room to help me when my given nurse was with another patient. This is great teamwork. I have been a patient on K7 in the past, and I specifically asked for K7 on this admission. I am thankful to be here on K7 and at Stanford Health Care. I am never disappointed. This is a fine institution. Be proud to work here!"

What our patients say about us:
Endoscopy OPC Team -- Redwood City
Special Mention: Jennifer Taufui, Jojie Alino, Nick Bautista, Sheri Tan and Julia Korzun
"I write to thank you for the wonderful care you showed my dad today. For context, he has had a rough couple of years. He lost his small business in another state last year and reluctantly moved to California this year, where he has only a few social supports. His physical and mental health declined rapidly, but he repeatedly refused to see any doctors, let alone undergo an endoscopy and colonoscopy. But when he returned home today, he kept telling me about the genuine, warm care you all showed him and patience with the language barrier. He usually is reticent, so the (largely unprompted) stories from him were a nice surprise!
From the bottom of my heart, thank you. I'm even more overly grateful that today's experience likely encouraged my father to continue seeking treatment for his health issues."

Congratulations to these 52 nurse residents who are in the top 10% of all cohort 34 applicants. They bring diverse experiences to our team, like starting a new career after one as a professional ballet dancer. And they are stepping up in big ways. One has already earned the prestigious Daisy Award. That kind of compassion and commitment to excellence are reflective of the entire cohortโa group with proven resiliency and dedication. Despite COVID-19, this group of nurses has risen to the occasion to become integral members of our healthcare team.

Stephanie Legette MSN, RN, Clinical Nurse II (C1/G2S), created a Leading with Love poster board to share knowledge with her team members while also having some fun. Each day Stephanie sends out a paragraph clue of the chosen prominent figure for that day. The paragraph contains childhood information, their struggle, and their contributions to history. After the prominent figure is correctly identified, Stephanie places a picture on the daily calendar.
Leading with โค๏ธ ties in both the celebration of Black History and โs Day.
Healthcare workers have faced many challenges during this ongoing pandemic. The word โLOVEโ and how we choose to lead with our hearts on a daily basis will help us all get through it together.

After she was diagnosed with breast cancer, I decided to put off studying for the bar exam just to take care of her, and itโs been a challenge to say the least. Thank you for your encouraging words and your consistent compassion and understanding of my situation. I now have much more admiration for nurses because of nurses like you. Traditionally, SHCโs femorally-cannulated extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) patients were kept on bedrest. However, after a thorough review of the literature and consultations with similar academic medical centers, a trial of a progressive mobility pathway was initiated by the Rehabilitation Team. This pathway was based on an assessment tool called the 'hip flexion screen.' This dedicated rehabilitation team, led by Shanelle Middleton, PT, DPT, CCS and Deepali Bankar, PT, MPT, CCS worked to determine if this quality improvement project improved the safety and progressive mobility of this patient population. Shanelle and Deepali presented their outstanding project at the 10th Annual John Hopkins Critical Care Rehabilitation Conference in Baltimore, MD, and received an award for the โBest Poster Presentation!โ
Congratulations to this team of diligent physical therapists for continually innovating to improve patientsโ quality of care and wellbeing, and then for sharing this innovation with the world!

Jerald Del Pilar
Unit: J4 ICU
โI was unexpectedly admitted into ICU because of cardiac complications due to cancer. Not only was Jerald Del Pilar a fantastic medical nurse, but also a great emotional support for me. When I had to shave my hair, he played Katy Perry, helped me open up about my feelings, and then he brought me a goodie bag and a beautiful pink journal to write my daily happy moments. He also had all the nurses write beautiful notes of inspiration on a get-well card. It is a gesture that will stay with me through this journey and one I will never forget.โ
