PAFD's very own Captain Hayes demonstrated high-rise procedures with our new probationary fire fighters during the in-house academy. The recruits, who previously spent 22 weeks in a joint fire academy, will now have a month long in-house to learn the “Palo Alto way” and cover EMS policies and procedures. We want to make sure our new fire fighters receive as much of the best training possible so that they can be ready for whatever, whenever, for everyone.

The Palo Alto Fire Department recently taught vehicle extrication at the Joint Fire Academy. The skills the recruits gain in the academy will stay with them through their 30+ year careers.
Yesterday at approximately 6:30 pm, B66/E61/E63/M61/M64/T66 got rang down for reports of a multi vehicle collision with a yellow car being fully involved. E63 was first due, Firefighter DeCaires stretched the front bumper line and made quick work of the involved car. We are happy to report that all occupants self extricated and did not suffer from any burns. M64 transported one of the occupants code 2 for your typical vehicle accident complaints, the pt remains stable. Stay alert out there all!
