๐ Untangled Counseling is thrilled to introduce the newest team member: Jasmin Aguirre, LPC-Associate, Supervised by Shamira Ramos-Ayala, LPC-S ๐
Jasmin joins me at Untangled, bringing her passion for helping others. For the past four and a half years, she has worked with individuals of all ages as a case manager and clinical counselor at Catholics Charities Dallas, specializing in children and adolescents aged 1-17. Additionally, she has worked with adolescents and adults facing challenges like depression, substance abuse, and psychosis.
With her experience and expertise, Iโm confident she will make a significant impact on our clients' lives.
Jasmin was raised in a Hispanic household, where discussions about emotions or past traumas were notably absent. As she matured, she began questioning the silence. This curiosity fueled her journey into counseling, driven by a desire to offer support to those in need of a listening ear. Additionally, she aims to contribute to breaking down the stigma surrounding therapy within the Hispanic/Latino community. Through extensive education, hands-on experience, and personal development, sheโs honed the skills necessary to assist you on your path, whether in English or Spanish.
You can be yourself with her, as this is a judgment-free zone, and sheโs here to support you every step of the way!
Martin Luther King Jr. was a man who dedicated his life to justice, equality, and love. Dr. King envisioned a world where individuals could thrive in environments of love and understanding. His dream encourages us to grow individually and collectively.
In counseling, we support you on your journey of personal growth and self-discovery, helping you reach your fullest potential.
๐ As we commemorate Dr. King's legacy, let's recommit ourselves to positively impacting the lives of those we touch and extending our influence toward a more just and compassionate world.

๐ฑ What are Intentions?
Intentions are like the guiding principles that shape our actions and mindset. Instead of specific, rigid goals, they are broad statements that align with our values and aspirations.
๐ซ Why Choose Intentions?
1. Flexibility: Intentions provide room for adaptability, acknowledging that life is unpredictable.
2. Mindful Growth: They encourage us to be present and mindful, fostering personal development on a deeper level.
3. Positive Focus: Intentions frame our goals positively, emphasizing the qualities we want to cultivate rather than what needs fixing.
๐ How to Set Intentions:
1. Reflect: Consider your values and what matters most.
2. Phrase Positively: Frame intentions positively, focusing on what you want to invite into your life.
3. Visualize: Picture how living by these intentions will enhance your daily experiences.
Share one intention you're setting for the coming year in the comments below. Let's inspire each other to embrace intentional living and create a positive ripple effect! ๐๐
With 2023 ending, let's discuss why resolutions and those "shoulds" might hold us back. ๐ซ
Resolutions often set us up for a rigid, perfectionistic mindset, focusing on immediate changes rather than long-term growth. ๐คฏ When we set specific goals, it's easy to fall into a perfectionistic mindset. This can lead to feelings of failure if we deviate even slightly from the plan. They can be like tightrope walksโno room for wobbles, and sometimes come from a negative spaceโfeeling " insufficient,โ with a hyper-focus on what needs fixing. More often than not, this echoes external expectations. External pressures and societal expectations sometimes influence resolutions; whether it's societal standards of beauty, success, or happiness, setting goals based on what others expect can lead to dissatisfaction and a lack of authenticity in our pursuits.
Instead of resolutions, setting intentions is a refreshing way to approach the new year. ๐ฑ
Tomorrow let's dive into what intentions are and how they can transform the way we set goals and foster personal growth. Stay tuned! ๐ซ
The holiday season can be joyful for many, but it's okay if you're finding it tough. Loneliness can sneak in, and that's completely normal. Remember, you're not alone in feeling this way. ๐
โจ Tip of the Day: Practice Self-Compassionโจ
Take a moment to acknowledge your feelings without judgment. Be kind to yourself during this season. If you're struggling, here are a few suggestions:
1. Reach Out: Connect with friends, family, or someone you trust. A simple chat can make a big difference.
2. Create New Traditions: Embrace change by trying something new. It could be a solo movie night, a cozy book, or a walk in nature.
3. Self-Care Rituals: Treat yourself to activities that bring comfort. Whether it's a warm bath, a good meal, or a favorite hobby, prioritize your well-being.
Remember, your feelings are valid, and there's strength in seeking support. ๐
๐ Page Update! ๐
Iโve noticed a boost in page visits lately, and I appreciate everyone stopping by! I want to address the lack of content โ the quiet doesn't imply absence.
While expanding mental health awareness is vital, my priority is authentic connections. Behind the professional front, counselors are human, and embracing our humanity enhances, not diminishes, our expertise, fostering genuine and authentic connections with clients. These connections take precedence over social media presence.
Though the posts are spaced out, stay tuned for meaningful content. Letโs be real: Quality over quantity.

Remember, your feelings are valid, and you deserve kindness and self-compassion. ๐

๐ Finding Glimmers of Light in the Darkness ๐
Life isn't always smooth sailing, but amidst the storm, there are beautiful glimmers that can light our way. โจโจ
In our mental health journey, we often encounter triggers that shake us to our core. But let's not forget the power of glimmers, those radiant moments that uplift our spirits and help us find strength. ๐๐ช
Glimmers are the opposite of triggers. They're those little sparks of joy, hope, and resilience that remind us of our inner strength and the possibility of positive change. They can be as simple as a warm smile from a friend, a breathtaking sunset, or losing ourselves in a favorite hobby. โจ๐
๐จ
When we intentionally seek out and embrace these glimmers, we nourish our mental well-being. They provide moments of respite, allowing us to catch our breath and regain our footing. They show us that even in the darkest times, there is always a glimmer of light to hold onto. โจ๐ซ
So, let's celebrate our glimmers. Let's cherish the moments that bring us peace, inspire us, and remind us of our inner resilience. Share your own glimmers of light and encourage others to do the same. Together, we can create a network of positivity and support. ๐คโค๏ธ
Remember, your glimmers matter. They can help guide you through the toughest of times and inspire others to find their own shining moments. Keep seeking those glimmers, and let their brilliance illuminate your path towards greater well-being. โจ๐

Abandonment:
Sometimes, we might be constantly looking for evidence that our partner, or our friends will abandon us. Here is a few reasons why:
* When we are anxiously attached, we struggle to feel safe in our relationships. We might become fixated on what our partner is thinking, feeling, what they are doing, or how they may hurt us.
* Often, fear of abandonment may be an unconscious fear of emotional intimacy.
* We might fear being truly seen, or heard. This may lead to patterns of sabotage. If we fear intimacy, we engage in behaviors that block intimacy.
* When emotional intimacy is not present, we seek evidence, or constant reassurance that we are safe. The emotions, or mood of our partner might dictate our own emotional state.ย
* We feel okay, if our partner feels okay. How our partner feels about us becomes how we feel about yourself. Our well-being is dependent on the emotional state of someone else outside of ourselves.
