***Just wanted to share something that Mady wrote the other night❤️

I want to be clear, this post isn’t for sympathy. My main goal for this post is to reach the people that can resonate. I apologize for the length of this writing, but it was on my heart & I wanted to share it with you all.

I am a planner. I would like to think that for the most part, I do a pretty decent job of planning & staying organized for my age. My mom would always say, “If you are on a train & you could see it running off the track ahead, you better have a plan of action for when it crashes.” That is how I was raised. To always have a plan of action or 87 of them. However, I am quickly learning that there is no “plan of action” for when the letter “s” doesn’t apply to you when referencing your living “parents”. There is no playbook with step-by-step instructions given to you on how to deal with losing one simple letter of a word. Because that letter represents the two people whom you value most in your life. When you can’t necessarily use that word in the same way you have before, it hits you differently.

Over the past month, I have attempted to come to terms with having no plan of action for losing my Dad. However, this OCD, color-coded, routine-based planner sometimes refuses to comply with those terms. Every day is different. One minute you’re completely okay & the next you’re not. I have learned that it is okay to not “sugarcoat” how you are truly feeling when people ask. Those who know me best will tell you that isn’t one of my strong suits. I have learned that even though the visitation & funeral were horrible, unfortunately, that’s not the hardest part. The hardest part is when it’s quiet. All the dust settles, the craziness slows down, reality sits in, & the letter “s” in “parents” goes away. I now have one “parent” living & one “parent” who has passed away & that is a hard pill to swallow.

Let me be clear, I am very aware that my father is in a better place. He, along with my mom, are the definition of the word courageous. For those who know exactly how I am feeling, I apologize. For those who have no idea how I am feeling, I’m jealous. One thing that I am sure of is that Sam & I struck gold when Ed and Dena Hart were chosen to be our “parents”.❤️

Day 178:
I know, I’m really bad at updating this page. Especially when things aren’t going as planned.
Ed has pneumonia again and a severe blood infection. I really thought we were turning a corner. He is having a rough time due to all the fluid retention. Please pray specifically that the cultures come back negative and the extra fluid comes off quickly so that he is more comfortable. He is back on the vent. We appreciate all your love and support. Keep sending those e-cards! Room #5614
