Today we went on a Wendy Walker Excussion to Swarthout Canyon to enjoy the beautiful scenery, it is so beautiful there especially this time of year. We went to Lost Lake and several other wonderful places. Wendy was incredibly informative like usual. Unfortunately, there was trash. We hauled a mattress up from the side of the hill. On my way home I stopped and cleaned up some trash dumped along Swarthout Canyon Rd. Then on the way to the dump, I picked up a large mattress dumped on Phelan Rd, very close to the transfer station, and some other trash dumped across the street.

Trash is everywhere.

For a really good laugh.

I shot this some time ago and forgot about it. When we were out in Adelanto doing the clean up for the Inland Equity Community Land Trust. I was out there doing some additional work when a tire got away from me, and the chase was on!

The video starts when the tire had already rolled about 500-600 feet, and it had no intention of stopping. Pesky damn insubordinate tires, they are a menace!

I was triumphant!

Sorry troops, I have been really busy this last week and I have not had a chance to post anything about our recent clean up project. Last weekend, Saturday, May 18th, we did a clean up project in Lucerne/Apple Valley with our newly formed Lucerne group headed up and hosted by our newest board member Nevill Slade. We had over 25 people show up and filled two 40 yard dumpsters, we do not have weights yet. It was a beautiful day and we covered a very large area. Then after lunch at Nevell's, he took us all on a short hike in Juniper Flats, it was incredibly beautiful and yes, we managed to liberate one tire along the way. 😁

We had a very good day yesterday. We partnered with Restore Unity and Keller Williams Realty Oak Hills for the Red Day of Service. The group of about 35 split into two teams and we went to 8 senior citizens homes and cleaned up their yards. I don't have a total weight but our group along weighed in at 3,900 of yard waste and trash.

Lunch was donated buy Knock Out Pizza in Hesperis, THANKS KNOCK OUT!

We look forward to working with this group on a regular basis. many exciting things happening with our organization, stay tuned!

The Wrightwood Blues Society has generously offered a free ticket to the Aretha Franklin Tribute Show on June 8th to anyone willing to volunteer with a truck to pull one of our trailers to tomorrow's clean up! Thanks Wrightwood Blues!

I will add that if you like blues and a whole smorgasbord of excellent live music, you should join the Writhwood Blues Society.

So no one can volunteer to pull a trailer for tomorrow's clean-up?

04/24/2024

Does anybody know of a place where we can get this tire plugged?

04/24/2024

Need a volunteer with a truck to tow one of our trailers out to Palmdale on Saturday. One of our regular volunteers truck is down.

Today's Mojave River Walk with the Victor Valley Community College group The Yuccas Club was a screaming success. We had 18 people show up. Lunch was donated by Pizza Guys of Victorville, thanks pizza dudes! It was a great group to work with and we hope we have that opportunity again some time.

04/22/2024

Happy Earth Day Troopers!

We will be out at Victor Valley College cleaning up the Mojave River Walk area with the school. If your not doing anything...

The Silo clean up in Llano went very well. We had 12 people show up and we got it completely done. 7,500 pounds. Unfortunately we were unable to finish cleaning off the graffiti in the silo, but we live to fight another day!

There are so many magical places in our beautiful desert, and this is one of them. It is an amazing place that needs to be protected.

Thanks to the Element Society for coming out, Positional Projects, Blight Sites, The Yale Club, Chuck, of course, Big Al's Pizza for donating lunch, and everyone else. Also thanks to the Antelope Valley Illegal Dumping Task Force for providing dump vouchers even though we went over 1,500 pounds and had to pay for it.

Yet another day out on Mojave Rd in Adelanto! Three times a charm, I think we finally got it. We could not have done it without a generous donation of the pictured roll off compliments of Laura and Leo of Xpress Junk Removal and Hauling. Thanks guys!

04/18/2024

Yolette, one of the NEA board members and I went back out to Mojave Rd in Adelanto to try to finish up the road before the big event this Saturday for the Inland Equity Community Land Trust. We filled the trailer, again, but we were not successful in getting it all. There is still some big stuff out there. I am going back out of Friday if anyone cares to join me, I sure could use a couple sets of extra hands.

04/17/2024

Don't forget this Saturday at he Silo in Llano! 165th and Ave W, 9AM to 1PM!

Often times we have to clean up trash on the side of the road, much of which is intentional. Sometimes that trash, especially along Phelan road, is unintentional, yet preventable, by covering your load on the way to the dump.

It was reported to us that this truck was going down Phelan road with trash flying out of the bed causing other drivers to swerve. Not only do we have to clean it up, but it also invites a avalanche of liability if it causes an accident and we don't want anyone to get hurt.

The moral to this story, please cover your trash load!

All across the desert - partnerships are essential for tackling ! is working with the fine folks at ! Consider supporting this collaboration - we love Wendy & Wendal at the antelope valley conservancy and we rarely clean without our friends at high desert keepers! 🧽🌵♻️💕💚
