April is Autism month!
Listen! To the autistic voice!
Autism is a developmental disability that affects the way people experience the world. This may include differences in processing senses, thinking, physically moving, communicating, socializing and going about daily living.
Here’s what autism isn’t, - something to be scared of or pity.
Community has to embrace them.
Just because they cannot read your mind, or you cannot read their mind!
We cannot write them off!
They are just people who are wired differently! They have feelings, emotions and understanding like U and me, but they are different!
We have to help them in their daily life, in their school, in their workplace.
Schools and colleges have to make accommodations for them.
Community at large has to make accommodation for them.
Early acceptance of autism improves their lives!
Diagnosis is clinical and does not need- elaborate, hard to get, fancy tests like ADOS etc.
Acceptance needs awareness!
Look around you!
Help them! Embrace them.

Good good news for all adults patients who are overweight or obese with risk of developing diabetes in the future!
Treatment of people with obesity but without diabetes with the glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) agonist semaglutide (Wegovy) —
reduces the risk of developing Diabetes by 50% in recent studies.
This probably will turn out to be “greatest scientific discovery “of our times.
We have to fight this obesity epidemic and it’s associated complications.
COVID Incubation Periods Have Fallen Over Time (Alpha to Omicron)
According to JAMA, ( Journal of AMA), a world wide study showed that the Covid19 incubation period has reduced from 6.7- 7 days to 3.5 days. Its important for Case tracing and planning for prevention, it helps reduce pressure on the health care system.
Two weeks ago, the CDC released guidance that said close contacts of COVID-19 patients no longer need to quarantine. Instead, they should wear a high-quality mask for 10 days and get tested 5 days after exposure. Infected people should isolate for at least 5 days after a positive test.
