Understanding how to approach deep tissue work is important. Just dropping an a elbow into a spot without first assessing the clients concerns, palpating the area and warming up the tissue(s), can actually do more harm than good.

The benefits of deep tissue work are amazing and can be long lasting, however how you get there is key for your clients well being and for not causing harm.

Our breath is one of the most basic functions of the body - providing oxygen to the body, and clearing the body or a foggy head, and helps strengthen muscles, reduces stress and anxiety, reduces pain, high-blood pressure and can even aid in digestion - just to name a few things.

So you can see how our breath can impact our health!

It’s one reason why I incorporate breath work in my sessions.

Come experience the difference you can “breathe!”

The diaphragm is greatly impacted by flexed posture. From forward head (text neck), to kyphosis and scoliosis. These and other postural issues can lead to weaknesses of the diaphragm and restrict the efficiency of our breathing.

Here we are doing a diaphragm release focussing on the lateral lines, using breath work and varying movement enhancers to release fascial restrictions, break pain patterns and help restore normalized breathing.

Whether we are talking about ‘solid material’ as fascia, muscles, other tissues that make up our skin, bones, internal organs, or the nervous system.

It is ALL connected and related to our breath.

Our breath influences everything from cognition, mood, attention span, body awareness, our emotions, “fight or flight” responses, sleep patterns, digestion and more.

Learning to utilize our breath has profound implications for our health and well being, fitness and recovery.

So many of my clients express that they just want to be “healed” of their pain and conditions.

Some come in expecting instant relief and never return because of unrealistic expectations. Some are so weary of being neglected in traditional models of medicine. And some just haven’t been touched in a way that is validating, and addresses their concerns.

I don’t know of any miracle workers and do not claim to be one. However I can say that my clients do get substantial relief and have an improvement in their quality of life.

And sometimes the healing is just having quality touch.

Come see how Myoskeletal Alignment and Assisted Fascial Stretching can help you on your healing journey.

Most of my clients state that getting stretched gives them longer lasting results for relaxation than traditional massage.

With a traditional massage it’s more about just laying on the table while someone works the muscles fibers that get stuck due to stress and work and oftentimes provides only temporary relief.

Stretching on the other hand requires a bit more participation of the recipient. However with your engagement and working with your therapist, the gains in mobility, flexibility and deeper tissue tension release can be longer lasting and ultimately more relaxing.

Come feel the difference today of what assisted stretching can do for you.

Kinetic Chain.

I often get asked “What is it?” and “Can you explain it more.”

So here goes - my simple illustrations and explanation of the Kinetic Chain.

Let’s first look at the word “kinetic” which refers to movement, and the energy that transfers within differing and yet interconnected and interrelated parts to create movement. This is the study of kinesiology - the study of how the body moves with its lever systems of muscles, fascia and the skeletal systems.

The word “chain” means a series of interconnected pieces or parts that allow for support, flexibility, movement, stability, strength, tension and power.

So by definition the “kinetic chain” in reference to the human body basically is referring to all the parts: skeletal, muscle, fascial, nerves, and more, that pertain to our ability to create and utilize energy for the best possible quality of movement incorporating all the best of the above definitions.

So if one part is not working properly, or is out of alignment, or has poor nerve input, or is under too much tension, or lacks strength, etc., - it impacts the entire movement, or kinetics, of the body both from the ground up (foot to head) as well as from the top down (head to toe)!

We start by doing movement assessments to identify areas of restriction, pain, dysfunction and then apply techniques of assisted fascial stretching and myoskeletal alignment techniques to restore posture at the skeletal level, and this in turn helps to restore “balance” to the other body systems so they can move and utilize energy efficiently, thus normalizing flexibility and range of motion so there is less tension on ALL systems as well as the nervous system - thus reducing pain.

There is obviously more details that go into this, but hopefully this simple description will give you a better understanding of the “Kinetic Chain” and how the body is connected and that it’s ALL connected.

We beed to be connected.

We are designed to be in community and relationships.

There are times for being in solitude for personal time, but we also need connection with others. For support, inspiration, laughs, healing, and so much more.

I am thankful in having a place where my clients feel safe and we can connect in so many different ways.

Find your connection.

Be in community.

A lot of my clients are not always treated with respect in their daily lives for a myriad of reasons and circumstances.

I have done my best to create a warm and welcoming space for everyone - where you are valued and loved.

As someone who was shunned by family, friends and colleagues I know what its like not to feel connected or in community and to feel alone.

I made a commitment to be better: than my past, my experiences, my circumstances and to treat people better than I have been at times.

No matter how you identify- you are welcome 🙏 in my studio.
