Sgrafitto fun.

Classic birthday cake, vanilla and chocolate marble cake with raspberry filling and a creamy lemon frosting.

Sgraffito (except the last one) these will be fired and then dipped in clear glaze for the second firing. As is always the case with glazing, I’m in for some Russian Roulette style results.

Every kitty deserves a royal cat bed. My kiddo and I made this out of cardboard and scrap leftover curtain fabric, a hot glue gun, and some trim. I think the queen likes her new bo***ir.

I made a tart. Blind baked pastry shell, topped with a layer of cooked almond frangipani (Julia Child’s recipe) with a dash of rose extract, and a layer of lemon curd made with Meyer lemons, topped off with dollops of fresh cream infused with blackberries. Pretty damn delish.

This is the first gluten free cake I’ve made that I actually loved. I decided to call it Death by Chocolate because it really is that chocolatey. Made from very simple ingredients and none of that chalky GF flour. Just pure almond meal, butter, eggs, sugar, vanilla, dark chocolate, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt. I coated it while still warm with a water ganache (yes, it’s a thing) in order to preserve some moisture as GF cakes tend to be dry. Def making this again.

I’d been wanting to make a scrap yarn hat for ages. Finally found the time to do it. I’ve seen these being sold for upwards of $80 online! Yikes! A very simple single crochet ribbed stitch switching between yarn colors randomly.

I spent all evening baking last night in preparation for Sundays sale! These will be Linzer cookie-style coffee cardamom cookies with a dark chocolate drizzle and crushed pistachios and a homemade rose jam filling. Jam filling isn’t pictured here as that’s the last step which I’ll do Sunday morning. This plus more homemade goodies are complementary for all shoppers to enjoy along with hot coffee, tea, and cocoa. Come early!! Message me for an invite!

I made some upcycled sock animals!!! Last year these were so popular, people were preordering them before the sale! And the rest sold out in the first hour of the event. So far I’ve made four, a horse, cat, baby elephant, and bunny. The elephant and bunny have removable accessories. If I can find time I’m going to try to make a couple more before Sunday. Made from all upcycled (clean and washed!) socks and upcycled pillow stuffing. The perfect eco friendly gift for the kiddo in your life! I just returned from a 5-day work trip to NY and one of the things I missed most was quality time with my 10 yo kiddo, who, like me, loves art and crafts. We promptly set out to create spooky decorations for our weekly “Sunday Funday” craft-time and here is the result. BTW the two warty squashes are home grown, having emerged as uninvited compost guests from last year’s trash.

An elegant crochet cloche with raised seam and adjustable brim, made with pure wool in a warm green. This is my own design, adding in a row of single crochet with no increase after each row of double crochet, leaving open the brim of the hat in a slit at the bottom and then emphasizing the slit with extra rows.

A birthday cake for a dear friend inspired by the flavors of the Mediterranean from a fancy schmancy restaurant that and took me to in Houston last week. Lime, bergamot, pistachios, figs, rosemary, and mascarpone cheese. I made some candied limes in my air fryer for decoration which was a fun experiment.

English style cardamom scones with fresh cream and a dollop of my small batch home made rose petal jam. (I love this piping tip!!) Served for brunch. I like well-made American scones but I’m an absolute sucker for English scones, pillowy, and not sweet, best paired with a floral jam and cream.

Mango cardamom pistachio Bundt cake adorned with mango glaze, dried rose petals from my garden, and edible gold dust, and served with mango sauce. It was SO good, my dinner guests had seconds and this morning the kids fought over it for breakfast. 🤓😅

I went a little nuts. Yes I did. 80s New Wave themed birthday cake. Carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. Glam, glitz, and 80s pizazz.
