Hello family. I've tried to write this post numerous times, but I'm finding it difficult to even find the right words to express what I want to tell you. So here it goes. In April, we received notice from St. Julian Winery that they planned to demolish our plaza to use the land for additional parking. To say that I was devastated would be an understatement. I immediately started looking for a new space and have spent the last three months searching day and night for a new location that fits our needs. I was so fortunate 21 years ago when a space in the plaza opened up. It had everything we needed! Three phase power, ten tons of air-conditioning to cool my beds and a spacious, centrally located plaza. I never anticipated that it would be such a tall order to find another location with the specs that I need for my business, but unfortunately, it has been a real challenge. Many seem to believe that I can just load my beds, move them to a new location, plug them in, and we'll be operational again, I wish it was that easy guys. Even with three-phase power at my current location, I incurred an additional expense of $22,000 for electrical work to get everything wired in and connected, and it's hard to imagine what the costs would be today. Unfortunately, my search for a new location that meets even half of my requirements has been unsuccessful. I have always been very honest with you all and I feel like I need to express how I am really feeling. I am angry and hurt. This is more than just a business to me. You are all my FAMILY! My children grew up here. YOUR children grew up here! I didn't know one person in Paw Paw when I opened back in 2003. This community welcomed me with open arms, and we built this place TOGETHER! I am incredibly GRATEFUL for each and every one of you! I think that is what is bothering me the most. Even though this situation is completely out of my control, I still feel like I am letting you all down by closing Industry. I have spent many nights crying myself to sleep. and days filled with so much anxiety I could barely speak. This place is EVERYTHING to me. I have received proposals to initiate a petition to halt the Winery's actions, yet the reality is that St. Julian owns this property and has the right to use it as they see fit, regardless of its impact. Additionally, I'm so grateful for the suggestion to organize a fundraiser for the build-out if I found a new home for Industry. However, I have never accepted charity and I don't intend to begin now, but the kindness behind the gesture is truly appreciated! We've survived so much together and the thought of not being with you every day, scares me to death! Spending day after day with you for nearly twenty-two years has been EVERYTHING to me. Even if you just stopped in for a hug, needed someone to talk to, or needed a laugh, we were always here for each other! This is all happening so quickly, and it's been a real struggle, but I am thankful that I've maintained my sobriety through it all. There have been some very dark days where my mind wants to revert back to old patterns and it scares the hell out of me, because over the past seven years, I have managed to rebuild my whole life. One without alcohol or other substances to deal with my problems. I refuse to lose my family along with my business over a drink. The support I've received from all of you throughout my recovery will always be remembered! I don't know where to go from here or what my life will look like when I leave here, just know how much I love you ALL and I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart! The plaza will not be demolished for another eight months. I decided not to sign the proposed "new" lease, primarily because if I found a new place to move to, I didn't want to be tied to a lease I couldn't get out of or be responsible for two locations while setting up a new spot. The financial burden would be overwhelming. Making this decision to leave early was extremely difficult, but it's the one I have made. I won't give up though! I plan to store everything and keep searching for a new place, but I'm determined not to stay in this location. I don't like feeling distraught and angry every day, it's not healthy for me. I know you understand. I wanted to provide ample notice to all clients holding gift certificates or unused tanning sessions to come in and tan. It's important to me that you receive the full value of your purchase. If you're unable to locate your gift certificate, rest assured, all details are already stored in our system. Our final day will be August 30th. PLEASE come in for a hug and a tan! I'll be offering special tanning packages that fit our schedule as we approach closing. Expect numerous sales on Body Butters, Foaming Sugar Scrubs, Body Oils, Soaps, and everything else that I prefer not to move! Also, please keep Chelsea DeRyke in your thoughts as she searches for a new location. She has been my rock, willing to persevere as I looked for a new place. Wherever she goes, she will take a piece of my heart with her. She is one of the finest women I have ever met. She is beautiful, funny, and devoted to everyone around her, committing herself to her craft no matter what life throws her way. She ALWAYS prioritizes her clients, which is what I admire most about her. Her smile will be missed every day, not just by me, but by my entire family. We love you, Chelsea! My sister Alicia deserves a special mention as well! Two years ago, when I urgently needed a stylist, she didn't hesitate to help. Despite her already full schedule at SH Salon & Day Spa, she graciously managed numerous clients and dedicated her day off to assist every Wednesday. Her support has meant everything to me. Love you sis! Finally, thank you all for the many years you've allowed me to be a part of your lives; it has truly been an honor. Every day, I'll miss you more than you know. Instead of goodbye, I'll just say, see you later. I love you.
