February 1 marks the start of Black History Month. Today we pay tribute to The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats, the first book featuring an African American child to win the Caldecott Medal for excellence in children’s picture books. Did you know that The Snowy Day is the most checked out book of all time at The New York Public Library!

In response to current events, I am offering 10 FREE tele-mental health consults during the week of March 16, 2020. These video appointments are provided via my HIPAA compliant telehealth platform as an emergency RESOURCE for managing emotional health for individuals and families during the current crisis. They are not meant to take the place of ongoing mental health treatment. The consults may, however, be utilized to explore and plan for ongoing mental health treatment if necessary.

My own son works with Miss Briana and he says "It helped me a lot with my speed talking and my favorite part is the games. I think it can help other kids with social skills and problem solving". As a mom, I have seen him use his new communication and social skills strategies first hand at home and with friends. We highly recommend Cornerstone!

I highly recommend checking out all that Cornerstone Speech and Language Center has to offer. Many people don't know that SLPs offer so much more than traditional "speech therapy". My 3rd grader has learned so many strategies to help with his Executive Functioning, organization, writing and social skills. Did you know they also offer feeding therapy? For more information or to find out if they offer services for your child's particular challenge, give them a call :)

A nice breakdown off all the areas that speech language pathologists can help in. It’s a common misperception that SLPs mainly work on speech sounds but that’s only one part of what we do! Not only do we work on multiple areas of language including verbal and written expression, comprehension and higher level language skills, we also specialize in helping children and young adults in the areas of feeding, social communication and executive functioning.
