Adding a little 🍓 blonde to this feed.
My toxic trait is forgetting about all the hair photos locked up in my camera roll.
So… here’s one of my favorite reddies
and also baddie 🔥🔥
.ayling is the epitome of summer.
She truly glows from the inside out.
She’s got the hair to match too ☀️
Erin upkeeps her red like a chaaaaamp.
She’s in every 8-10 weeks for a root touch up and toner aaaand doesn’t even need color depositing conditioners in between salon visits. Why not? Because she keeps her hair moisturized and protected from heat + sun.
Healthy hair will hold color 100x better.
Always. It’s science 🧪
Thinking about a color change or wondering why your color fades so fast? First, focus on the health of your hair. Need help figuring out what it needs? I’m here to help and have consultation appointments available 🫶🏻
It’s called “brown out” 🔴🟠🟤
What is it?
•It’s the specific way that red tones fade, leaving more brown in the hair than red. Sometimes even appearing darker.
Whyyy?
•Over time the neutral pigment of the natural hair works against red tones, creating a more brown hue.
•Your starting level (the lightness or darkness of your natural hair) will determine the amount of brown that can appear as your red fades.
•The tone and brightness of red that you choose + your starting level are factors of brown out as well.
What can help?
•The NUMBER ONE thing that will prevent fading (causing brownout) is healthy hair. Equal porosity throughout the hair helps color stay in place.
•No hot water. The hotter the water, the faster the fade. This is hands down a proven factor to fading, and even though it sucks it will 100% help your red remain vibrant.
•Moisture. I’ve said it, and I’ll say it forever.
Adding in moisture to your mids and ends (and not just on wash day. Every. Day.) will help so so much to create healthy hair.
Dropping a miracle worker right here:
‘s Acidic Bonding Concentrate 5-Min Liquid Mask. This guy is pure magic. use once a week only and you’ll notice sooo much less color fade. 🫶🏻
Questions about redheads? Let me know, I’m more than happy to help!

Guess what’s in?
Pretty sure you’ve seen it.
In short, it’s short.
Short hair is back with a vengeance and we’re here for it. We’re styling it a bit differently too!
Tip:
I know velcro rollers are everywhere, but imo they can be a bit tricky to master. And if time isn’t your friend, sometimes they aren’t either. Try a large barreled curling iron instead! Wrap up your hair as you would a roller and slide the barrel out, hold the hair with your hand or secure with a duckbill clip until cool.
Volume awaits 👏

Proof:
beige is n o t boring and it’s not just for walls.
…especially when featured as a bronde tone with some contrastttt. I had someone get real freaked once when I recommended a beige tone for their blonde. As a colorist I didn’t even think twice about how it sounded. Butttt yeah, when I stepped back and analyzed it I totally got the fear.
So here! Here is beautiful, rich, creamy BEIGE folks.
It exists! And if you’re wanting to tone down your blonde, it’s probably what you’re looking for 😉
g o l d e n n n n n n n.
Here’s the story: Bryton wanted to color her hair…
but she was fearful of things like damage, streakiness and contrast. And I wanted to make sure her color looked as NATURAL as possible.
B e h o l d: the power of custom hand painted balayage. Did Bryton spend Christmas break vacationing in the sun? Sadly, she didn’t, but her “sunkissed” hair makes it loook like she did. A bonus? This will grow out seamlessly with barely any maintenance.
Hand painting hair is probably my #1 favorite thing to do in the salon. I’ve been honing my skills for years, so if you’ve been wondering about it or even just have questions I’m all ears! Send over a DM or a comment and I’ll be happy to help 🫶
Happiest of Holidays! ✨🎄
Sending the warmest wishes out to you all and hoping your holiday shines as bright as this ginger babe 🫶
In remembrance of cowboy copper.
It was fun, and man was it was gorgeous but sometimes it’s a little too high maintenance.
We went back to her roots for something a little more low key but added a pop of face frame blonding to amp up her brunette ⚡️.
If anyone out there is thinking about trying copper but may be fearful of the maintenance it comes with… try out a warm-toned or copper balayage first. It’ll grow out more gently and allow you to try out the color without going full committal 🤙
✨LUMI IS BACK!✨
For those of you who may have missed my previous updates: booking is now completely open to all current clients!
For new clients: I will be taking appointments for haircuts only. Color appointments for new clients will open in January 2024!
For those of you who are wondering what the heck I’m even talking about or why my books were closed:
In early August I dislocated and fractured my ankle, underwent surgery, and while technically I’m still recovering, (don’t break your ankle guys, it’s brutal 😅) I’m fully cleared to work and am so happy and grateful to be back to doing my favorite thing!
Lastly: THE HOLIDAYS ARE UPON US 🔔🔔🔔
Y’all know what this means. It’s always crazy town in the salon this time of year so get those appointments booked!
✌️
Hey!
It’s me, Lauren.
This is my face.
Rarely shown due to introverted tendencies ✨
I’m the owner and stylist behind Luminary Hair Artistry.
Some personal information:
I’m first and foremost an avid lover of potatoes. All of them. Forever and always.
I like plants and I don’t care who knows.
I also really like dogs, but… like is a weak word.
By nature, I am a mediator. I wholly believe there is a middle ground that we as human beings can stand firmly upon.
I’m the person you ask a question to when you want an honest opinion, and
I’m the girl you go to when you need realistic options.
(This applies to life and hair 😉)
I’ve been in this industry a whole fifteen years.
It’s cliché to say, but I didn’t find it, it found me. This is a career that is ever changing and evolving. It keeps me on my toes, and that’s the beauty of it. Forever learning 📖 and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
👄🫦👄
Bronze bronde.
A perfect transition into what *should* be… what is it? Fall?
Does autumn even exist?
Texas, we are very ready. 🤞
It’s been two weeks since I broke my leg and ankle.
And I’m missing my salon home.
SO freaking much.
I’m fully aware that many wouldn’t be able to say the same and am incredibly grateful to feel this way.
There has been lots of time for self reflection and there will be lots more, but one thing I’ve learned (Covid was the OG teacher 😅) is that time flows like the ocean. Sometimes it’s rough, sometimes it is calm, but it is constant and ever flowing.
Thank you all so much for your patience and kindness while my body takes its time to heal ❤️
Updates on my return will be posted when I have more information. If you need any help finding a referral stylist in the meantime I am so happy to recommend trusted stylists that fit your needs, and please always feel free to reach out if you have any questions at all!
For those who it may concern:
This auburn hair is home grown.
What we did was enhance it with some warm sunny balayage ☀️ + a subtle toner for longevity!
Okay so I want to address the reason as to why we would “tone down” this balayage. I’ve talked to a lot of my clients this summer about toning down their blonde/bronde, and it all comes down to one reason: THE SUN. It’s intense. Especially in Houston. Especially this year 😅.
Blonde can get so brassy and so insanely bright with just one trip to the beach. Toning down at your appointment can help counteract this from happening and help keep your hair looking it’s best throughout our 5 month summer. 🌊
NEW NEWS:
As much as I’d love to completely dismiss this notification my body is telling me to accept it.
Unfortunately I have severely injured my leg and ankle and am undergoing surgery this week. Recovery is going to be a long one 🫠
I’ve reached out to those of you with appointments set for this month about my expected return. In a situation like this it’s difficult to say exactly when that will be but my hopes are for the very end of August/beginning of September.
For this reason I have temporarily turned off my online booking to ensure availability for those of you who are waiting for me to return behind the chair. In the meantime, if you need an appointment I am more than happy to send out referrals of trusted stylists that suit your needs!
Thank you all for your well wishes, patience, and support while the healing process ensues ❤️
Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns!
“Goodness gracious, great balls of FIRE.”
…is now on repeat in my head.
Ridiculous songs aside, this is one of my favorite gingers 🧡
Why?
She maintains her vibrant copper perfectly. So perfectly that we don’t always need to tone at her root touch up appointments. (If you’re a “redhead” you know this is wilddd.)
Want to know how?
-Sulfate free shampoo
-Minimal sun exposure (or UV protectant when unavoidable)
-Moisturizing products in between washes
-Anddd COOL WATER! Cool water is probably the # 1 reason her color stays vibrant.
Hot showers are awesome, it’s a fact. Butttt if you’re wondering why your color is losing its vibrancy so fast try changing it up. I swear it will make the best difference in color retention 💥
We’ve all seen it.
In the car.
In our bathrooms.
In the salon chair.
In our phone’s camera.
In that one photo our friend tagged us in…
…when we thought our hair was a completely different color than what it’s portraying itself to be.
That my friends, is what happened when I took photos of this gorgeous bright sunny blonde. ☀️
That is not what my camera captured this day.
Don’t get me wrong, this is still a beautiful color! But whether it be time of day, lighting, reflection, etc., keep in mind that a photo is just a photo. It does not always capture reality.
I hesitated to post these because they weren’t ::perfect:: in my eyes, but then I realized that no photo is ever a true representation of color. 🎨
So here’s my tip today: remember to give yourself grace and to know that a post or a photo will never signify or ever embody all that you are. 🫶
Heads up:
Low maintenance blondes
are rulingggg over this summer!
#1 tip for keeping your blonde bright and not brittle: MOISTURE 💦
This can be in the form of
Serum/oil
Leave in in conditioner
Weekly hair masks (check for protein content, there is definitely such a thing as too much!!)
Try adding an oil or serum (lightweight if you have fine hair) to your ends on the days between washes, I promise your hair will thank you 🙏
This hair is what dreams are made of.
This was a big revamp with a little hand painted balayage and all the copper tones you can imagine 🍑
A lil’ throwback from the
ginger spice collection 🪩

Vibrance 9-57 + -00
Full disclosure:
We all know what two day bun hair looks like when we take it down and brush it out. So keep that in mind when comparing these photos ❤️
That being said, we definitely were able to revamp these tresses with some depth and face framing pops of brightness 💥💥💥
Painted with the best coppers around
Fact: car lighting is the best lighting 💡
Fact: orange (copper) is my favorite shade of hair. (Pretty sure y’all figured that out 😅)
Last fact: Orange is truly my least favorite color outside of the hair world.
I don’t understand either, but facts are facts. 🧡
Baaaack to your roots 😏
This brunette bombshell wanted the freedom of her natural color back, and with it she is truly GLOWING.
I had to do the side by side for honest reference! The contrast between her skin and natural color is beautifully striking.
For you in the same boat that are wanting to go back darker know that this color will fade and may take 2-3 sessions for the previous blonde to absorb and hold on to that depth. That being said, the fade out can be beautiful and fun to live in between toners!
🤎🤎🤎
Let’s talk about ittttt.
✨Copper✨
It’s everywhere right now, buttt is it for everyone?
There’s totally a copper for everyone, but taking into account skin tone is the number one factor on pass or fail with this color.
Example: my client in this photo has an olive skin tone. I knew we couldn’t do pure copper as her base because she would feel like a cartoon character 😅. Adding brown to her formula enhanced her skin tone and instantly gave her a tanned/sunkissed glow.
Copper tones, like all reds, are pretty high maintenance if you like to keep up with the vibrancy.
This means regular toners, touch ups, and/or color depositing conditioners.
Reds are my favorite for many reasons, and I’ve spent so much time learning about them. Both natural born gingers and those who want to be seen as such 😉
If you have any questions about upkeep, tone, or are considering making the switch ❤️🧡 I’m more than happy to share my knowledge.
Feel free to send over a DM or drop me a question in the comments.
Thank you Shoutout HTX!! 🤗
I’m humbled and honored.
I’m reflecting on all the people that have helped me grow and that continue to do so.
🙏Thank you from the depths of my being.

Want to know how we got this color?? 🧐
Did she say she wanted “caramel”? Or was it “honey”?
Maybe she called it “chocolate”.
The truth is… it doesn’t matter what it’s called.
Like. At all.
What matters is what YOU see.
The key to achieving your desired color or tone is all about communication. Bring photos!
Describe what you like about them. Bring photos of what you DON’T like. I promise, it makes allll the difference.
What’s “caramel” to you can be seen as “copper” to someone else. Keep this in mind at your next appointment and try bringing examples of color you’re wanting to achieve! 🌼🌼
Welcome 2 0 2 3 🥂
This year I’m starting out with a full cup ✨
I’ve already gotten to transform some gorgeous heads of hair in some of my most favorite ways and I can’t wait to see what else this year holds for all of us 🙏
