Target's car seat trade-in program starts soon Target is bringing back its popular car seat trade-in program.

Please note: Our online zoom parenting class time will change starting on Thursday, September 19th. From that day on, class will begin at 1:00pm. If you would like to sign up for the zoom class, please call our office at 309-689-0200.

The University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria is hosting a community baby shower for new and expectant parents and parents of children ages 1-5 years to provide education and resources. This event will be held on September 21, 2024 from 11:00 AM-2:00 PM at The Neighborhood House at 1020 S Matthew St. in Peoria. Resources for education, information and services include (but not limited to): pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding/lactation support, child safety, vaccination (during pregnancy and for babies/children), STI testing, free supplies (diapers, clothes, and other baby/childcare needs), and raffles for miscellaneous childcare items. We are so thankful for the Eagle Scouts who worked so hard to collect donations for our center! So many diapers!!! We are truly grateful for their support. Diapers are a major need year-round at our center. If you would like to donate diapers, our greatest need is always larger sizes of 4, 5, 6, & 7. We also always need Pull-ups in sizes 3t/4t, 4t/5t, & 5t/6t.

One of the resources we provide our clients is diapers and pull-ups. We are very low on pull ups at the moment, specifically in sizes 4t/5t and 5t/6t. We need both boys' and girls' pull ups. We accept donations Monday through Friday, 9am-4:30pm.

We met another little cutie today! Mom & baby are doing great.

We have a beautiful conference table that is simply too big for our space. It is only 2 years old and in excellent condition. We are asking $300.

We are so grateful for the generous donation from the El Paso Knights of Columbus! They collected clothing, diapers, baby gates, and more to go into our Crib Club. Our clients will love shopping for these items with coupons they earn by attending our parenting classes.

Did you know that every time a child visits Women's Care Center they can take a book home with them? We love to promote family literacy & we love to see the smiles on their faces as they choose a special book to take with them. If you want to help us in our effort to give books to kids, will you drop off a new book or two to add to our library?

At this time, we are unable to accept any further donations of USED items. We are simply out of storage at the moment, so we ask that you consider taking any gently used items to Helping Hands Resale Shop in Peoria. Proceeds from their shop are donated to various non-profit organizations, including Women's Care Center. Their drop off hours are: Tuesday - Saturday, 10am-5pm. We will still accept brand new items for our Crib Club! We always need larger size diapers & Pull-ups, wipes, and new clothing up to size 4T.

Please consider helping Sophia's Angels Kitchen with a donation to help repair the vandalism done to their property. They fed so many hungry people.

It's been a tough few days at Sophia's Kitchen. Windows and doors have been broken by a vandal over several days. This troubled person has been arrested, thanks to the quick actions of our great police force. We pray our legal system will be able to give justice.
In the meantime, we are left cleaning up broken glass, and spending endless dollars. Even with insurance, because these happened as separate incidents and we need to work with a deductible, we'll need to cover thousands of dollars in unexpected costs.
We're reviewing our security equipment and upgrading where it is needed.
Our guests have been so upset over these horrible actions. They have told us repeatedly how much we are valued and loved. They ask if this will close the kitchen. That answer is NO. We know who has done this, and he is the one who needs to answer for his actions. No one else should suffer because of his misdeeds.

Join us for Parenting Classes this week! In addition to learning about parenting, clients get to be part of a community of parents who can help & nurture each other. Another great benefit of attending is that we give 20 diapers each week and 2 coupons for Crib Club! We have great teachers and helpful curriculum that focuses on parenting kids from birth to age 5. Women's Care Center exists to provide free, confidential counseling, support, and education for pregnant women. We provide free medical-grade pregnancy testing, limited non-diagnostic ultrasounds during the 1st trimester, birth prep classes for 1st time parents, and parenting classes that focus on raising and caring for children from birth to age 5. Walk-ins are always welcome for pregnancy testing! All of our services are FREE and CONFIDENTIAL!

Meeting our clients' babies is one of our favorite things. We were so excited to meet this precious bundle of joy!

Volunteering can be a form of self-care. It is an excellent way to give back to your community and make time for causes you're passionate about, whether it's working in a community garden, walking dogs at a nearby shelter or helping neighbors clean up your local park.

When a woman begins to feel consistent and regular contractions that don't go away after resting or hydrating, then she's likely beginning true labor. The contractions will follow a predictible pattern and become progressively stronger and last longer. They may start out feeling like menstrual cramps or a low backache.

At some point, a woman may notice fluid leaking. It might be a trickle or a gush. This means the amniotic sac has ruptured and labor is coming. Once the water breaks, it's time to call your medical provider!
