PHS is happy to announce our June Superhero: Josh!

Josh was chosen by our previous Superhero, Ron. Ron stated “The person who I have chosen to be the Super Hero of the Month came to PHS and brought uplifting electric energy to our team. He has been instrumental in planning and representing our clinic at events, and collaborating with other local healthcare organizations in the community. He has been super flexible in their job duties and is always willing to help out with just about any task asked of them. He asks great questions and is eager to learn. He brings positive energy and light to our team; he is uplifting and will always lend an ear to listen. Just since coming to PHS this person has dramatically increased the clinic's social media presence, helped with planning and implementation of the "Dress to Express" closet, helped get clients who were lost to care re-engaged in care, planned the Pride Kickoff event at the Basketcase, and been to countless LGBTQ+ and community events; he even represented PHS on the news last week. I feel so thankful and so encouraged that PHS has a dynamic team of the best and brightest super stars I have ever worked with and who I have the privilege to call family. This Super Hero is no exception. This month's Super Hero is Josh Morgan!”

This years Slut walk was definitely a success! We can not thank JOLT Harm Reduction enough for inviting us to be part of this event. The testimonies and support that were shown were truly inspiring. Thank you to everyone that made this event happen.

This week's trans group will be arts and crafts in our pajamas! Pajamas are NOT a requirement! This trans group is also open to the public!

Feel free to bring an art or craft to do while we sit and socialize together but if you can't or don't want to bring anything, we will have bracelet making things! We are trying to raise funds to get our trans group on a trip to Chicago so we will be selling most of the bracelets made unless someone wants to make some for themselves!

We'll have speakers, a drag show, and music to dance to. Show your pride, dress up or come in your pajamas! JOLT fam will be there offering hugs and support, we stand in solidarity 🫶

PHS will be closed today to observe Juneteenth. We will reopen tomorrow, June 20th. Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. The holiday marks the day in 1865 when Union General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas, and announced the enforcement of the Emancipation Proclamation, which had been issued by President Abraham Lincoln on January 1, 1863. This announcement effectively freed the last remaining enslaved African Americans in the Confederacy. Juneteenth is a time for reflection, education, and celebration of African American culture and achievements, often observed with community events, parades, and cultural activities. It became a federal holiday in the United States on June 17, 2021.

Our reentry community partners invite you to register for A Summit of Hope Expo as a Vendor or Volunteer.

The Summit of Hope is a community expo, bringing together local service providers to create a "one-stop" environment for invited parolees and probationers to obtain necessary assistance to move past barriers, which may prevent an individual from leading a successful life.

The 10th annual pride picnic was a resounding success, fostering a sense of unity and joy among attendees. The event was filled with delicious food, contagious laughter, and invaluable resources. The smiles on everyone's faces captured the essence of what happens when a community unites and has an amazing time. Kudos to Peoria Proud for allowing us to be part of this incredible event. Our PHS team members did an outstanding job representing us and spreading awareness of the vast array of offerings from our remarkable community.
