Blake, 40, grew up in a home with both her parents until they divorced when she was 10.

Her parents grew apart and disagreed on what they wanted for the future. But, they were conscious enough to put Blake’s emotional needs first. Knowing that the way they dealt with the conflict and separation would be the foundation of how she’d deal with conflict in her adult relationships.

Both her parents had been raised to understand emotional regulation. They took breaks when conflicts escalated. And they both went to other adults to vent— not Blake. She learned conflict does not mean an explosion and how to have difficult conversations.

When her father did lose his temper, he’d take time to cool off then knock on Blake’s bedroom door. “I’m really sorry I screamed like that. I’m under a ton of stress, but that doesn’t make my behavior ok and I’m actively working on changing it.” Because of his ability to repair, Blake learned that men are trustworthy. That when they do act in harmful ways, they’re accountable.

This modeling showed Blake how to be both empathetic and accountable— aware of her own behavior. It also showed her people’s bad behavior is their own responsibility to fix.

Her mother was devastated around the divorce. She cried openly, showing Blake that human emotions are a natural part of life. She took care of herself through the divorce— going on walks, cooking for herself, and letting herself rest. Blake learned resilience and strength.

Decades later, her parents can still be respectable to each other, and at events together. They live very spare lives but she knows how much they both care about her and support her no matter what. She can share openly with them, they take interest in her life, and she has a partner who does the same.

Blake has been gifted with the privilege of self aware and regulated parents. They’re imperfect. They made plenty of mistakes. But their emotional responsibility gave Blake the confidence and resilience she has today

We can experience two (or more) feelings at the same time. And it doesn’t have to make logical sense. Give yourself permission to explore the many parts of yourself, ideas, and experiences that you didn’t think could co-exist. ALL our emotions are part of the larger spectrum - to be human is to feel. It’s not either/or; at times it easily is :both/and.” Think of them as layered colors on a changing canvas.

When you want to evolve, it helps to explore the messages these feelings are trying to convey. Even seemingly opposite ones offer data points that can guide you to greater self-awareness. This inevitably leads to increased alignment both inside yourself and in the world around you.

Drop a ✨ if you are open to learning from ALL the feelings.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FROM DR. MARIANNE HOYLE:

To our friends and dedicated patients,

As many of you know, Dr. Marianne was in a bicycle accident on November 10th. We want to thank everyone for the love and support we have received. It has been the most comforting to have you in our lives.

Since November, Dr. Marianne has endured surgery and a lot of pain. She still isn’t able to use her arms to their fullest ability. Soon, she will be undergoing shoulder surgery to aid in the healing process. Dr. Marianne is in much pain and isn’t able to run her business to its fullest.

With that being said, we have made the difficult decision to close up our physical office starting February 1st, 2023.

This isn't a good-bye as Dr. Marianne will still help patients as she is able. She will be available via email, text messaging, and virtual meetings.

We will continue to keep our website online as well as our Facebook and YouTube pages. You can continue to learn through the videos Dr. Marianne has recorded and share with others that you think may benefit from our messages. She wants to continue to share her knowledge with all of you through
these avenues.

If you have any questions or concerns, please leave messages at 309-404-5002 or [email protected] for appointments or supplement needs.

We have always said “be kind to yourself.” I want you all to take care of yourselves while I take care of myself.

Thank you and we love you all!

Sincerely,
Dr. Marianne & Miranda

Did you know November is Diabetes Awareness Month? In 2019, 37.3 million individuals had a diabetes diagnosis. That's 11% of our population.

This is a nationwide epidemic and I want to do my part to inform my patients about diabetes and how we can prevent it.

In this week's video, I share the difference between type 1 and type 2 diabetes. It is important to differentiate between the two. I also share some facts and figures about diabetes and the early signs and symptoms to be looking for.

The holiday season is upon us and we will be surrounded by food. Let's set up a plan together for you to live a holistic, healthy, and healing lifestyle.

Our emotional health has a direct effect on our hormones. Many of the hormones I mentioned in previous videos such as estrogen, progesterone and testosterone play a big role in our moods. This is yet another reason why it's important to balance our hormones to improve our emotional health.

In today's video, I share two patient stories about how past trauma affected their emotions and feelings which led to fertility troubles. Two incredible stories that speak to the power hormones have on our overall health.

Working on our emotions and mental health is not a short journey. Nor does everyone have the same journey. We are all different and unique. That's why I work on an individual plan. Give me a call and I can help you get started.

Be kind to yourselves, friends. Happy November! -Dr. M

Infertility - many of us know and understand this highly upsetting and personal experience.

Affecting both men and women, the rate of infertility continues to increase in America. Toxins in our modern world pollute the body and compromise precious functions.

The costs of traditional drug and surgery treatments for infertility are not only financially expensive, but they can take a physical toll down the road for both the parents and the conceived child.

As the rates of infertility continue to climb, we must look for all-natural solutions when this natural process of fertility goes awry. In this week's video, learn tangible, self care tips for BOTH men and women to help with fertility. - Dr. M

When an individual talks about hormones, we commonly just think about estrogen and testosterone. However, there are at least 8 MAJOR hormones we should be aware of in our bodies.

In today's video, I discuss in detail the following organs/hormones - thyroid, insulin, estrogen, progesterone, prolactin, testosterone, serotonin, and cortisol. You will learn their functions and how impactful they are to our overall health!

Your wellness journey can start with examining your hormone levels and determining imbalances within your system. And this goes for men and women!

If you would like to learn more, I'd be happy to set-up a consultation with you. Call/text our office at 309-404-5002. -Dr. M

Hormones have profound effects on your mental, physical, and emotional health. These chemical messengers play a major role in controlling your appetite, weight, mood, and more.

Hormonal imbalances have become increasingly common with today’s fast-paced modern lifestyle. In addition, certain hormones decline with age, and some people experience a more dramatic decrease than others.

In this week's video, I share more about why hormonal balance is key to wellness, no matter what age you are or what condition you are treating.

I welcome your questions about hormones. Give me a call at the office or send a message via email. Remember, be kind to yourself! -Dr. M

Happy Fall! 🍂 We are officially into our last week of September...how can that be already?!

We are rounding up our self care month by discussing nutrition. Carefully consider what you eat and drink - my guideline is 75% fruits and vegetables and 25% everything else. And you've heard this before...but drink your water! 💧

In the video below, I discuss several nutritional practices that we can consider when it comes to self care. Remember, it's important to listen to bodies....if it's telling us to eat, then we need to be fed. If you're dehydrated, then we need to drink water!

If you need any help in your wellness journey, I'm always here. Contact my office anytime! -Dr. M

Previously, I asked you to listen to your bodies. To pause, breathe, and recognize what your body was telling you. This is the first step in self care.

But what if your body was telling you that it's in pain? It could be physical, mental, or emotional pain. How do we practice self care if our body is asking for help?

In this week's video, I share self care practices we can do to manage the pain - this includes the Morter March, breathing exercises, and more. I also share a patient story of how their neck pain was due to a stressful situation at work and how it was resolved. A great lesson!

If you do not feel your best and your body is in pain, please let me know. We can work together to heal. Be kind to yourself! -Dr. M

Are you listening to what your body is trying to tell you? Stop, and listen to your body. Do you need rest? Water? Food? Take a pause and breathe. 🧘🏼‍♀️

One of the most important concepts of self care is to LISTEN TO OUR BODIES. It tells us everything we need to know. If something doesn't feel right and you cannot find relief, let's meet and discuss what your body is trying to tell you and we can figure out a solution together.

In this week's video, I'm sharing how we can practice self care through our daily habits. These practices may seem simple, but we can make it difficult on ourselves. I'm also sharing how our nervous system plays a critical role in self care and how we can reset ourselves. Press play below!

Happy September, friends! 🍃 A new month means a new topic and we are discussing self care. 🧘🏼‍♀️

We hear this phrase more than ever and that's good because we should be taking care of ourselves! However, self care means different things to different people.

In the video below, I share how I define self care. Let me tell you, it's pretty
simple but we can make it a difficult thing.

I also share a story from a patient of mine who has been doing self care for over 60 years and she is a true example of how to take care of one's self.

The scoop on your 💩 .....

Last week, we discussed how food can improve our gut microbiome; however, a change in our diet sometimes isn't enough. If our gut microbiome continues to be out of balance, it will in time have adverse ripple effects on our health since the body doesn’t get the nutrients it needs.

For most people, common digestive woes can be remedied by changing what and how one eats, other lifestyle improvements, and often, supplementation. But before we make an individualized wellness plan for you, we must test and get the scoop about what's really happening in your gut.

Learn more in today's video below. I welcome your questions and concerns. Give me a call at the office or book an appointment. Be kind to yourself!

Did you know there are three things you can do right now to heal your gut? It involves your diet.

You know the old saying, "you are what you eat"? This goes for our gut microbiome too. In the video below, I will explain what foods should be incorporated into your diet to improve your gut microbiome.

If you're ready to focus on wellness and healing, give me a call! We'll start with a microbiome test and move forward together. Remember, be kind to yourselves! - Dr. M

Can you guess the three signs of an unhealthy gut microbiome? I reveal them in this week's video below!

But many ask - how I can be 100% sure my gut microbiome is unhealthy? I suggest doing a stool sample and this can be done in my office. It measures several things. Once we have the results, we can move forward with a plan to live a healthier and holistic lifestyle.

If you have questions about your health, please call or text my office at (309) 404-5002 or email [email protected].

The microbiome in our gut makes up a large portion of our bodies AND our health. This is why some individuals call it the second brain. Join me in learning about the gut microbiome throughout the month of August!

First, it's important to understand what the gut microbiome is. It is a collection of trillions of microorganisms including bacteria, viruses, and fungi. The gut microbiome is involved in many important body systems - digestion, nutrient absorption, and our immune system.

The gut microbiome plays a central role in our overall health and it can get out of balance. Not many people realize this and I want to help you learn more about it and how to improve your microbiome.

In the video below, I'll share more about what a gut microbiome is and why it is important to us. If you have questions, please let me know! -Dr. M

When an individual is ill these days, we have to ask ourselves..."is it COVID-19 or something else?"

That's the number one question and there's a lot of confusion because a cold, the flu, and COVID can share a lot of the same symptoms...cough, runny nose, aches and pains, fatigue, etc. Or maybe that individual already had COVID - are these symptoms long term effects?

Here's what I know. Each person and their experience is different. It's not a one-size-fits-all situation. I've seen many patients and there's not one case that is similar. We are all individuals and that's how I go about treating and healing their bodies.

I explain more in this week's video below! Let me know if you have questions. - Dr. M
