The 15th Annual CKKA Training and Tournament Weekend in Toronto, Canada, was a huge success and lots of fun for all! Thanks to 3 of our students, Chris, Don, and Mark for coming all the way from Arizona to represent our Dojo! It was a great time!!

Congratulations to our Sensei on his upcoming induction into the Canadian Black Belt Hall of Fame!! The Induction will be on November 5th in Ottawa, Canada. He's honored to join current Hall of Fame members and his mentors, his brother, Alex, Dave and Tony Chong, Pat McCarthy, and Armie Rizzo. Congratulations also to his friend and former student, Muzammal Nawaz also being inducted into the Hall!

For the last 10 years we have collected toys for the Peoria Fire Fighters' annual Toy Drive. Sadly, some of the children receiving these toys don't expect holiday gifts, so imagine their surprise on Christmas morning!! We appreciate you and your generosity during this holiday season! 💗

Seasons greetings from Okinawa where I hope you will join me in welcoming a very dear, and long time, friend into the KU family; His older [and better-looking 🤭] brother [Alex] and I came up through the ranks together, an I have known Shihan John Atkinson for more than 40 years. In that time, I watched him battle his way through some of the most famous fighters to becoming an international competitive champion and respected instructor. Over the past few years he's been quietly taking on KU practices and is now officially become our Arizona representative. Welcome sir and please know we are all behind you 100% 🙇

Our Toy Drive donations were picked up on Saturday by the Peoria Firefighters to begin their distribution in time for Christmas! Thank you to everyone that so generously contributed to our Annual Drive in spite of these challenging times. Your kindness goes a long way. Thank you!

Atkinson's Martial Arts updated their business hours.

Back in early March we had 12 students test for their Black Belt, as well as other students that were going for a higher level belt. Our goal was to present their belts at our annual Showcase. The Pandemic put a halt to that. So, Saturday, July 25th, we will be presenting their belts in small individual ceremonies starting at 10AM.

Some of the candidates were not able to make the date of the 25th, so we will be making presentations tonight to those students. Congratulations to:

Due to the Pandemic our annual Showcase originally scheduled for April 11th, was postponed and has since been cancelled. The focus of our Show each year is to honor Candidates that tested for their Black Belts (or higher degree belts) during Power Weekend. The Candidates have been waiting patiently since then to receive the belts they earned many months ago. Over the next couple of weeks Candidates will be invited to the Dojo with 6 of their guests for a very long-awaited small ceremony. The ceremony will be on Zoom so we invite all of you to watch the presentations and celebrate along with us. Our 2020 Candidate group will be honored next year at our next Showcase and we thank them for their extraordinary patience!

Hi Everyone! Hope you are all staying well! As you know Governor Ducey has begun re-opening some businesses around the State, however, some businesses, like ours, have not yet received the green light. We're hopeful that we will get that directive very soon, and when we do, we will be ready to safely bring everyone back to the Dojo. Once we resume classes at the Dojo, our plan is to continue some online classes for those of you that need a little more time staying home. So we will have a combination of physical and online classes during the week. During this transition we will have modified classes in order to continue safe distancing, include time to sanitize in between classes and take whatever other precautions we can to ensure your safety and that of our staff.

We're anxiously awaiting the go-ahead and will keep you updated. Thank you for your patience, flexibility and support, and we look forward to seeing all of you soon!
