Two large groups attended our Haunting Tour this past Sunday.
The ladies on the stairs were Sorority sisters and former Architecture students.
The group on our front porch were members of a book club, and had just read “Haunted Peoria” by local author Stephanie McCarthy; hence, they were interested in our haunting experiences.

Peoria Historical Society’s “Soldiers of Springdale” Walking Tour … this Saturday, October 26
Did you know that Springdale Cemetery’s Soldiers Hill is the final resting place for more than 1,100 U.S. veterans from almost every American conflict? Come spend an hour or two listening to the stories of some local patriots, including more than 300 who served in the Civil War—and a few Medal of Honor recipients as well. This tour will take place October 26 from 8:30-10am. Participants will meet in the parking lot next to the Springdale office (3014 N. Prospect) and then caravan to Mt. Repose and Soldiers Hill. Eerrrrie?! These visitors were waiting in the parlor of Pettengill-Morron House Museum on Saturday for our Haunting Evening Event. Personal experiences of volunteers past and present at P-M House were shared during tours of our 1868 Mansion. This event was very well attended, and our warmest thank you goes out to all of you for your support!
John C. Flanagan House Museum welcomed a group of Bradley University students this afternoon. Enrolled in a museum studies class, they enjoyed learning both about the house and what it takes to keep Peoria’s oldest standing home running during their tour. The house will be open for tours again on November 3 or by appointment.

Come wander our gardens and enjoy the sweeping river views after you tour Peoria’s oldest standing home, built in 1837. Open for tours Sunday, October 20 from 1-4 pm. Peoria Historical Society’s “Warehouse Renaissance” Bus Tour … this Friday, October 18
The railroad boom of the late 1800s brought products and people in and out of Peoria—and necessitated the need for warehouses. This PHS tour will show riders some of the warehouses and other industrial structures built between the 1880s and the 1920s in downtown Peoria—often with reinforced concrete frames and brick exteriors. Learn the early history of the area and see now many of these buildings have now been reimagined as restaurants, shops, and community meeting places—a true renaissance! This tour takes place Friday, October 18 from 10-11:30am. Tickets are $20 each and reservations are required, so call 309-674-1921 or follow the link in the comments to reserve a spot.
