Join us on Saturday, January 13 for Peoria’s 3rd Annual MLK Day of Service & Celebration event in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. In addition to several local non-profits and service organizations, come enjoy live music, entertainment, and activities highlighting arts and culture of the black community, as well as complimentary food and beverages, spoken word performances, free books for children, and involvement opportunities for local service projects. The AZ Tamale Festival will take place in Downtown Peoria next Sunday, December 10! It will include numerous tamale vendors, a mercardo for Christmas shopping, photos with Santa, and a 1,000 toy giveaway! There will be local performances, ballet folklorico, and mariachis to help us celebrate the holiday season with delicious tamales!

The Jam Tram Karaoke Truck will again be a part of Old Town Holiday Festival this year on December 9 in Downtown Peoria! Get your creative juices flowing and enter the annual Gingerbread House Competition at Peoria Community Center - Winners take home cash prizes! Drop-off will be open from Nov. 30 through Dec.6 at the community center during business hours. Judging will take place on Dec. 7, 2023 and the winners will be notified by phone. The winning gingerbread houses will be on display at the Old Town Holiday Festival on Dec. 9, 2023.

We are proud to have hosted another very special Veterans Day Ceremony at Rio Vista Community Park this morning, to honor those who have served 🇺🇸. In addition, we added 57 Peoria Veterans to the Honor Wall!

THANK YOU VETERANS for the sacrifice and service you commit to for all of us 💙❤️🤍

More thank you’s to everyone who was a part of the ceremony this morning including: Mayor Jason Beck, Councilmember Bill Patena, Jim Cousins, USAF MSGT Scott Duke, USAF MSGT Melinda Charlton, Glendale Pipes and Drums, and ceremony host Jessica Roza.

Last but not least, thank you to all of the volunteers who helped set up for the ceremony including Travis Manion Foundation, West Valley Women Veterans, and the Peoria Veterans Memorial Board.

HEAL HER Art is an art wellness program for women veterans. It’s designed to be fun and stress-relieving—encouraging social interaction and creativity. Sessions are always free, and all women veterans are welcome. Stop by Rio Vista Recreation Center between October 26 and Veteran’s Day to see some of these artistic creations in the 2023 HEAL HER Art Show, and vote for your favorite!
