On August 1st, step up to the plate with us at Dozer Park for Public Health Night as the Peoria Chiefs take on the Quad Cities River Bandits!
Our team from the Peoria City/County Health Department, along with Tazewell County Health Department and Woodford County Health Department, Eureka, IL, will be there to share information about our various programs and services.

All Peoria City/County Health Department offices will be closed this Thursday, July 11, 2024, for an all-staff training day. There will be no programs or services available at any of our locations on this day.

Get active this summer with a fun twist! Participate in the Let’s Move Tri-County series of community walking events organized by the Partnership for a Healthy Community. These events will be happening throughout the tri-county area this summer - stay tuned for more events in Tazewell, Peoria, and Woodford counties!
The inaugural event will kick off at Eureka Lake walking trails on July 10th at 6 PM. Grab a couple of friends and walk alongside our host, Hannah, from the Woodford County Health Department, for a refreshing 30-minute stroll!

The Peoria County Courthouse, Veterans Assistance Commission, Election Commission, Animal Protection Services (PCAPS), Highway Department offices, and Peoria City/County Health Department offices will be closed for Independence Day on Thursday, July 4, 2024. These facilities will reopen on Friday, July 5.
Animal control officers can be reached at 309-674-3131 on the holiday during normal hours.
The Peoria County Sheriff’s Office, Jail, and Juvenile Detention Center will remain staffed and functioning, but records and in-person visitation will be closed. Inmates can still be visited remotely throughout the closure, and the bonding lobby will retain normal hours as well.

Planning a trip to the County or State Fair? Protect yourself and your family from potential exposure to influenza A(H5N1)* by following the tips below!
*avian influenza A(H5N1) first occurred in wild birds and poultry and has recently been detected in dairy cows for the first time. CDC confirmed three human influenza A(H5N1) infections that had exposure to presumably infected dairy cattle. As of 6/20/2024, 12 states have reported outbreaks in cattle affecting 93 dairy herds. This number continues to grow. Please note: there are currently no dairy herds or humans that have tested positive for influenza A(H5N1) in Illinois.

The Healthy Eating Active Living - Food System Partners (HEAL-FSP) Food Security Community Advisory Board aims to improve food security in Peoria, Tazewell, and Woodford Counties. This week, we were honored to welcome Cure Violence Global staff to Peoria for an impactful program management training session. Our dedicated Program Manager, Alisha Wells, and Site Supervisor, Terry Burnside, are now equipped with the tools and knowledge needed to successfully implement the Cure Violence program right here in our community.
Cure Violence is a public health approach to violence prevention that has reduced shootings by up to 70% in some of the most violent cities across America. With the support of our local leaders and experts, we are confident that we can achieve similar results and create a safer, healthier Peoria.
