Our 2024 Newberry Scholarship recipient is Ciara Cameron. Ciara Cameron is graduating from Perry High School. We especially want to acknowledge that Ciara began high school in 2020 during the height of the pandemic. Therefore, it is incredible that she completed her coursework during those challenging times and was able to graduate in four years.

Ciara is the daughter of Valerie Cameron and William Cameron. While enrolled at Perry High, she participated in Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), Cheer, Piano as well as Photography club and Reading club. Ciara will be attending Fort Valley State University and majoring in Nursing.

Ciara has overcome many obstacles in this challenging world and persevered to become a confident young woman. Ciara plans to give back by serving the kids of her community. She wants them to understand and realize that they are beautiful and courageous just the way they are!

The Newberry Scholarship Committee would like to recognize Ciara’s hard work and dedication. We truly believe that she will achieve great things and continue to uplift the African American community. Therefore, we are awarding a scholarship for college expenses.
