Meliorisms - Mind, Body and Handmade Things
Mind, Body and Handmade things. I weave, spin and sew beautiful items for your life.
Today I'm spinning at the NJ Sheep and Wool Festival. You can find me October 19 for their annual fall festival!
It was simply perfect! The weather, family, friends, my new "daughter", her fabulous family, and the sharing of love with new and renewed friends. Love was definitely in the air!!
Here's to crossing borders for love and to a future filled with family and friends.
I'm so looking forward to watching your lives unfold and blossom! Love you both.
Updating my shop inventory. Some things sold, some didn't. It's a constant guessing game. Has anyone else figured it out? Check it out!! DM if you interested in anything.
Deflected double weave is something I love to weave. It has texture and playing with color is fun! I'm sampling for some and for a friend. The first two slides show on and off the loom and washed and what a huge difference that makes. The third slide is the edge and how it looks after being washed. Cotton shrinks so much it all works out!! So keep in !
I'm so excited!! I won a raffle and now have a pair of Louet mini combs with a beautiful bag by . And I picked up a few other things for .
Next I sat at the back of the loom and threaded to 500+ threads through individual heddles. Sitting at the back allowed a much more comfortable@experience as the back beam is easy to remove.
Added some new work to the shop. Check it out!
I updated my website with a few more goodies!! I don't have many baby blankets left. I'm adding some new warps to the looms. Anybody want anything specific?
Just finished an inspiring workshop at in South Philly. Can't wait to get a new warp on my Loom. Thanks for the inspiration!
Now that the holidays are over I'm putting inventory back on my website! I don't have much left and will only be updating as inventory is created. Thank you to everyone who purchased something for the holidays and I hope you enjoy! My New Year's resolution is to be more thoughtful with my creations, whatever that means! Stay tuned.
A new scarf item I made for my grand niece. She's so cute!!!
Just waiting for Santa. And dinner.
Spent a day at the Ann Lowe exhibit at Winterthur Museum. She was an American designer from the 1920s to the 1960s. Very inspiring and I left with some sewing inspiration! It's worth a visit if you have the time!
Looking for some last-minute handmade gift ideas? Look no further, check the link in my bio and shop local. Many of my handmade items are listed here.

It's finally here!! Saturday from 10-6 at the Bok Building in South Philly. Come support local fiber artists and many of our guild members!!
A project bag! A new prototype for my knitting friends! All I need to do is test it!! What do you think?
Made@some@bags today! Perfect for that or to carry around ! I have some shows coming up and need more inventory!! Most yarn and fabric bought locally!
Hemming is the least glorious part of weaving for me. I've learned to like it, but I don't love it. Sometimes I simply let there be a small fringe. Whatever works.
Hot off the sewing machine! New shoulder bag, perfect for adding color to your outfit and carrying your phone and wallet!! Available at Loop Yarn this weekend!
Getting ready for show season! This is my first year doing more than one market!😬Mark your calendars because fiber arts always feel better in person.
New towels coming soon!! I'm trying to keep up so I'm working furiously!! Stay tuned!!
I got together with some friends today to learn a new technique. These are the samples of what we made. And it was a beautiful day on the deck for learning and creating!
I got out some new yarn I'm not sure about so I did a Sett test. Each of these samples is a different sett. Unfortunately you can't touch them and I was surprised they looked so similar. One is sett at 12 epi, one at 15 epi and one at 18 epi. Can you tell which is which?
It's been a beautiful weekend here in Philly! I spent a lot of time walking around this city for the last several years and how I see this city and how it's portrayed on the news is frustrating. This city has problems and crime, like all cities and suburbs. News channels only focusing on that and waiting till the end to show the one story of human interest does all of the population a disservice. For every bad thing, there are countless good things that happen and kind people taking care of one another. Why do we always focus on and give energy to the bad? Maybe this labor day we can work harder at focusing on the beauty that surrounds us?
